True that. I love industrial metal. It's too bad that Reznor's first album was his best. The rest of the collection is good, but nothing compares to Pretty Hate Machine.

I disagree with that statement. I like all of the albums to an almost equivalent degree. They're each very different in their own way. Pretty Hate Machine is probably the simplest and most direct, but I like the Broken/Fixed duology, and the later blockbusters.

We saw the tour supporting The Fragile a few years ago, and it was a great show. It was not quite as breathtaking as I expected but it was a solid delivery of a great catalog of songs. I suspect it would be more immediate in a smaller setting, which would have made it better.

"Head Like A Hole" from Pretty Hate Machine is probably the best NIN song of all. "Wish" from Broken is a good one with pounding guitar and drums. "Closer" from The Downward Spiral is probably the most famous one, and good despite the popularity.

Trent Reznor is the man, and most of the music he recorded by himself, with some supporting musicians. I think you'll like him, Rumple.

They did all the backing music for the first Quake game. It was pretty cool stuff.

The game had a nailgun in it, and the ammo boxes that you picked up for the nailgun had the NIN logo on them.

Yes indeed, on both counts. Rumpulator, if you've checked in on my earlier reply, I added a bit to it.

Nine Inch Nails is one of the top 5 favorite bands for my wife and I, both.

I bought Pretty hate machine and it's the awesomes, what NIN album does anyone recommend to buy after that one?

If you like NIN you should seriously check out KMFDM, another awesome Industrial band.

If you follow the Trent Reznor link in my earlier post, it will take you to a good site with bios and overall reviews.

After PHM, I would get The Downward Spiral, then either The Fragile (a double) or Broken (an EP). Note that there are a lot of remix albums, singles, etc, most with a high degree of reznor involvement. I would avoid those until you have all the real studio releases.

NIN, for various reasons, had a lot of bootleg issues for a while. Always look for a Halo number to identify official NIN releases. The Pretty Hate Machine album, for instance, is Halo Three I believe, because it was preceeded by the CD singles for "Head Like A Hole" and "Sin".

Hmm I checked that link, actually I was going to get The downward spiral during the January sales but I must've forgot. I'll probably pick it up next time I go and buy a bunch of CD's.

Hell yes! That game was awesome. And the music was farking awesome in that game. :)

Quake is the onlyTrent Reznor product of which I'm aware. He was a huge Doom player, and when they approached him to do the music for Quake he jumped at the chance.

I'll have to give NIN a shot I guess...after I get the money for a new mp3 player because my laptop has zero space left on it :p

No. Songs to buy. Sample if you must, but then put a crowbar in your damn wallet and buy the CD. Theft is theft. If the whole album isn't worth owning, odds are that the song isn't either.

I second that. Most of my playlist are songs that I've ripped.
