homebrew works on the DS like it runs by the operating system so called DSLinux so it performed in a non-blocking way, and you can keep open as many "virtual windows" as you want and work simultaneously in two of them in a split-screen mode which psp don't have.

That makey no sensey.

- How do you get the files onto the DS? It's not like it has removeable storage like the PSP does (Memory Stick Duo).

Just bought a DS with Nintendogs for my son as a birthday present.
I'll probably take a look at some other games later, but I've never been a big fan of portable consoles.

Tiger Woods & Mario Kart are the two games i'm getting a lot of play time into at the moment. Nintendogs looks fun, i don't think i've got the patience though :P

I'll probably buy it... It'll be great just like the other Zelda games...

BTW anyone play Metroid Prime Hunters? The first time I played it it hurt my thumb like hell but it seemed to get used to being stretched now. Anyways wow... The controls are extremely precise (Though sensitivity had to be adjusted to my liking). The only way to play it well seems the thumb strap though... Other methods suck in my opinion... Other problems are the placement of some buttons I pressed the morphball button while trying to aim... Struggled to touch the alternate weapons...(Works well with the right hand though)

The areas are small and isn't streamlined (they use doors that open and shut to moderate the amount of areas that are loaded it seems) but the four areas have a totally different look to them...

The storyline isn't there since there is no interaction between the bounty hunters at all... Aside from shooting each other of course... But exploration is the point anyways I guess...

Too bad I don't have a way to connect online... Would love to try online matches...

I have hunters and it owns. Wifi is awesome and the single player game is hard. When you beat it there is no point redoing the game and it is kinda repeatative. But AWESOME. In multiplayer my best hunter is trace.

I picked up a white Lite yesterday, and though it’s a pleasant little gadget, I keep expecting it to somehow serve as a modern-day Newton or miniaturised iBook. Devious industrial design...

I badly want a DS. :grumpy:

A mate of mine and his sister have one each, and whenever i go rounsd ther we play Mario Kart.
So much fun, i'm great at it.
Makes me want one so bad.

Plus i want to play Animal Crossing, it's a great game, my other friend has it on Gamecube.
I can't seem to find anywhere that sells Animal crossing for gamecube.

Anyone know where does?

Get one. Maybe even a ds lite. They are really good. If you get a ds, get silver, not pink or blue. They are garbage.

^^ There is no difference between pink, blue, red, black, and silver. The only difference is the color, so how they are "garbage" I don't know. That personal opinion and nothing more.

My brother has just bought a DS Lite, replacing his older one. I must admit, it is certainly worth the money replacing it just for the ultra-bright screens. It's even better than the PSP's in my opinion. He said it made every game feel new again. The problem is, that it made me think about buying a White PSP replacing my Black one for a while.

I have a better idea. If the DS Lite is better than the PSP, trade in the PSP and it's games in, and buy the DS Lite, with extra spending cash for even more games. After all, Lumines is coming to the X360.

I was playing some multiplayer Mario Kart with two (and at times) three of my mates with DSes today. Really fun stuff, I'm so glad I got this over a PSP...All my friends have the original DS as well so I felt special with my sleek Lite. :)

I think the import title Ossu! Tatakae! Ouendan! is a must-have DS game. I got it a while ago and only have the final difficulty level left to unlock (trying to beat Ready Steady Go on Hard mode...haven't picked it up in quite a while, but I did finally manage to get past the three spinners, but promptly died since I'd never gotten that far before and the rythm completely changes).

The sequel will be a US release sometime in the fall (forgot when)...it's called Elite Beat Agents. Hopefully it'll live up to the original...

The last game I bought for my DS was Metroid Prime Hunters (when it came out) and I've hardly touched it or my DS since...just haven't been in the mood I guess...

Interesting article(at least for Nintendo or DS fans): http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/TheStreet/NintendoHitsTheNextLevel.aspx?GT1=8472

MSN Money
Portable power surge

Nintendo's share price has performed strongly over the summer, moving from $17 to $23 during the past six months. It's a fairly solid performance, considering how wobbly software companies like Electronic Arts (ERTS, news, msgs) and Activision (ATVI, news, msgs) have been during the same period.

In its latest quarter, Nintendo delivered an 85% revenue increase and a tolerable 10% EPS hike. That's a good performance, considering it's coming just ahead of the launch of its new tabletop console, Wii, in the fourth quarter.
Nintendo kicking a#s, and as the article points out, Wii isn't even out yet. I sure hope Wii doesn't dissapoint.

MSN Money
DS is a game console that has become a mainstream success basically on the back of the software sold by the console provider. In Japan, Nintendo has sold more than 21 million units of DS games -- the second-biggest DS software supplier has moved only 2 million units. Usually, console vendors have to grovel for the support of third-party game developers in order to gain strong sales of their game consoles, but Nintendo has the ability to sell 50 million units of its portable consoles on the back of its own game development. That's an edge no company can match.
This was interesting to me. Article claims that huge first-party support of games were one of the reasons for the success of DS. Something that was seen by many as a problem with the Nintendo consoles for nearly a decade or so. I guess the console and portable gaming markets works very differently.

So i got a DS this past weekend and it's great. I worried that the graphics would make me cry and the games would send me to sleep, but i was wrong. Oh yes was i wrong.

I picked up 3 games with my DS: Mario Kart, Tiger Woods and Tony Hawks.

Tiger Woods: A fun game this one. I love golf games anyway so this was an obvious choice, but i do like this a lot. Makes use of the touchscreen when you take your shot, and you can control the ball midair by applying spin also on the touchscreen. This works well, but sometimes appears a little random, you may hit a 100% shot followed by a 6% shot even if you follow the same process. Still it looks like the game will last a long time as there are multiple game modes, create a player, a statistics system and other things to keep you occupied.

Mario Kart: The greatest game ever has made it onto the DS and retained the awesomeness that gave it it's title. Contains all the original gameplay but with added extras such as online gameplay. Doesn't make use of the touchscreen, but you can blow into the microphone to blowup your ballons in battle mode, which is pretty cool. If you don't own this game, then go buy it.

Tony Hawks: Haven't played it yet, but have my brother's opinion as a long-time TH fan that this is fun to play and isn't a bad game at all. Will update later.

This thread is dedicated to discussing the Nintendo DS and its games. What have you got? What do you want? Do you own a 'rubbish' game that's actually the best thing ever? Found a funny use for the microphone? Post 'em here.

I have a nintedo myself the graphics are exelent why don't you try animal crossing and nintendogs

I just bought a used DS tonight and I must say I'm completely blown away. My next purchase is the GBA SD card converter cart so I can watch movies and play music on it. That and Final Fantasy III is coming and I want to be prepared. :sly: The DS Lite has some kick ass LCD screens...but it was a bit too much money for me. Maybe in a few months I'll buy a DS Lite, but for now I'll enjoy my regular DS.

Also, I concur with the others on Mario Kart DS...ANY Mario Kart is worth it's weight in platinum. And the DS version is no exception. Great job Nintendo!

That makey no sensey.

- What do you need to run the files? Do you need to install this DSLinux?

You can buy a card reader that goes into the GBA port. The firmware in the DS needs to be modified too. My one uses a 512mb SD Card, but you can use any size (mb) card.

I have the original DS and want the DS lite. However, I'm not sure if my card works with it. I'll need to find out.

Anyone here running homebrew on their DS? I am looking at Moonshell (apparently a must have), but am wondering if there were any decent homebrew applications out for the console...
