Just wondering why we don't at least have one general nintendo forum to discuss the GCN, DS, or Revolution. I know nintendo may not be as popular, but I think there are a few other members who would think that a nintendo forum would be useful, so as not to clutter up the "gaming general" thread with any nintendo news and discussion. Just a suggestion :)
 
If there was a lot of interest in Nintendo products in the "Gaming in General" forum, I would consider it. However, I see the lack of discussion as a lack of interest in such consoles among our general population. Of course, if you are able to stimulate a lot of active threads in that forum, I may change my mind.
 
I agree with tha_con.. especially with the Revolution coming along soon. While there may not be much talk now, it's mostly because there isn't much to talk about. Once they do their big exposé, especially the games, there'll be plenty of chat.
 
If that's what happens in the Gaming in General forum, I'll be glad to open up one for the new system.
 
Unfortunately i think we're in a catch22 situation here. People don't want to talk about Nintendo because there's nowhere dedicated to do so, but obviously you don't want to create a new forum if people aren't posting topics.
As a Nintendoid i'd love to see a dedicated forum so we can discuss the DS and the Revolution among others. I will make an effort to see if there are enough fans around to warrant the creation of the forum.

I think there should be a Nintendo Forum. The DS is a impressive machine, and I think people overlook how great it is. I admit, I probably won't post there much at all as I don't really play on one, but my brother has one so I may have my input on a game occationaly. ;)
 
It doesn't make sense not having a Nintendo forum. I can never talk about nintendo (which I love) on GTP because I know it will be overlooked and/or lost in the gaming in general forum. Nintendo deserves its own board before you can expect it to become a topic of active discussion. People are discouraged from discussing it because there is no home for it.
 
There should be a Nintendo forums, there are some great titles and some good one are coming, The Legend Of Zelda : Twilight Princess is a good example.

And I agree with DonBenni, Nintendo related topics get lost in the Gaming in general forum most of the time.
 
Yeah Nintendo are a great company, and i loved my N64. However, i don't think the Gamecube as successful as they hoped and i don't know anybody who has one. Also the DS is cool but has a lot of competition from the PSP. Still, a nintendo forum would be cool...
 
As mentioned before, just one forum to cover everything Nintendo will be adequate. From the NES to Revolution, from GameBoy to DS, there could be many interesting topics.
 
I would like a Nintendo forum also.

The PSP forum was created in anticipation for popularity. At first there wasn't a lot of posts in it. But now it's doing better. Nintendo, as a whole, is IMO a lot more popular than the PSP. And a lot more people own Nintendo consoles than PSPs. If a Nintendo forum was created today, I believe it would be more active than the PSP forum right from the start. One forum dedicated to Nintendo would be adequate.

Me too, but Jordan doesn't want to make a forum about Nintendo if he doesn't see a lot of Nintendo activity. :indiff:

I've been trying to put Nintendo threads in the Gaming in General forum, about the new DS Lite, and about the Wii's price and all, but like donbenni said, it's a catch 22.

Think this: if there weren't a 360 forum, there'd be a lot less talk about the 360. Same thing with the PSP.

One forum would suffice, for everything Nintendo related. From the NES to the Wii and beyond, and from the original Gameboy to the DS.

REALLY late reply, but I said that because almost everyone that posted said they wanted a Nintendo forum, but now after all this time, I guess not. Now I kinda figure it wouldn't happen, since its like maybe 20 members of 80,000+ so far.

I say Jordan should make a sub-forum for a week or so, maybe a month, and see what goes on.
 
Looking at it now, it seems almost silly not to have one.

Seriously, what would be the big deal? Would one more forum really make the place that crowded?

Xbox has two separate forums. Playstation has three. We're not asking for a new forum for every Nintendo product, like the other two companies already have, just one forum will do.

They're quite right about the Catch-22.. I for one hardly ever read the General Gaming forum, I'm more interested in the specific consoles I have. Which, interestingly enough, are a PS2 and a Gamecube. I'm sure quite a few people also avoid the General Gaming forum for the same reason. That forum, by it's very nature, is non-platform-specific, meaning that people don't want to post platform-specific threads there.

Case in point, I'd love to post a question about Gamecube titles, but I get the very real feeling that very few people would see it, much less read it, much less reply, if I put it in General Gaming. The last thread I put in there, which I thought was a pretty good one, got only one reply.

While you may think there's no reason to put up a Nintendo forum, there's really no reason not to. It's not like a Nintendo forum would kill GTP or something.
 
I too still would like to see a Nintendo forum here on GTP. My soul reason for this visit to GTP this morning was to discuss the DS Lite but as others have said a lot of the discussions get ignored within the Gaming In General section.
 
I've added a general Nintendo board to the Gaming In General forum, and moved a number of Nintendo-related threads there. With the upcoming Wii, it did seem time to give those discussions a home.

The only thing that needs to happen to the PC Boards is the removal of F12001/2002 and GPL.

As good a games as they are, they're just not active enough, espcially with the F1 Section almost a year without a post.
