NISMO TV!

Launch of new TV channel on YouTube, NISMO.TV

Iconic Nissan GT-R race cars to carry YouTube branding
Content-focused approach to give unparalleled access to motorsport content

A fan-focused approach to help attract new fans to motorsport

New features to be added including live streaming

Yokohama, Japan - Today automotive innovator Nissan outlined a new collaboration with YouTube that will include the world's largest digital content platform hosting a brand new channel to be known as NISMO.TV. Launching in April NISMO.TV will curate, aggregate and commission global Nissan Motorsport and performance product content at NISMO.TV.

Nissan will capture its motorsport stories 52 weeks of the year and provide constant behind-the-scenes access to YouTube's viewers. Projects such as Nissan's experimental Le Mans electric prototype and gamer-to-racer GT Academy will see the focus of the attention alongside more traditional motorsport coverage.

Part of the collaboration will see YouTube branding feature on the cars of the NISMO Athletes as they compete across Europe in prestigious events in their Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 racing cars.

The YouTube Nissan GT-R will compete in the Blancpain Endurance Series and the new for 2013 FIA GT Series in the hands of the first winner of Nissan's revolutionary driver discovery and development program, GT Academy. Lucas Ordonez has raced all over the world for Nissan since winning GT Academy in 2008 and for the FIA GT Series Lucas will be joined in the YouTube GT-R by Nissan regular Alex Buncombe and for the longer Blancpain Endurance Series races by one of the newest NISMO Athletes, American Steve Doherty, who completes the line-up.

NISMO.TV will follow the exploits of the NISMO Athletes - the GT Academy winners who have risen from being PlayStation gamers to real world racing drivers - illustrating that the transition from virtual to reality, from PS3 to podium, is now a bona fide route into the fiercely competitive world of racing.

Julie Kikla of YouTube commented, "We're delighted to welcome NISMO.TV on to the YouTube platform. Working in the content space with Nissan creates an exciting new dimension to our existing motorsport content offering which is fast becoming a valuable genre."

"By launching NISMO.TV on YouTube we're creating a new template for leveraging motorsport content and taking it beyond the purist, on a truly global level. This new relationship with YouTube, like our collaborations with Gazprom Neft and PlayStation, shows what a new generation of motorsport-led marketing will look like," said Nissan's Director of Global Motorsport Darren Cox. He added, "Innovation is what Nissan does best and with YouTube we can go out there and break the rules when it comes to engaging with our audience: the current and future motorsport fans. There is no better platform for our content than YouTube so we are excited to see how far we can go with NISMO.TV."

NISMO.TV is live as of Friday March 22, 2013.

Nismo GT-R to be the fastest GT-R ever

Nismo is working on an even more extreme GT-R with power and chassis upgrades

The first Nissan GT-R Nismo prototype has begun testing, and is expected to be unveiled at November's Tokyo motor show.

Nissan's executive vice president Andy Palmer confirmed he had driven the prototype in Japan, but declined to reveal technical details beyond saying it will be "the fastest GT-R ever".

The GT-R Nismo is known to have been developed with substantial input from Nissan's Nismo race team, which competes in the Japanese Super GT race series.

"The majority of the exterior changes are aero and downforce related," said Palmer. "The production car record at the Nurburgring is the gold standard, and we expect to lower that."

Although the Nissan Juke Nismo has only been given a minor power upgrade, and future mainstream Nismo products (including the 370Z) are expected to have changes focused on improving handling and cornering prowess, Palmer confirmed the GT-R Nismo will get a power boost over the standard 542bhp.

"There will be an extra kick," said Palmer. "This will be the ultimate GT-R to come out of the factory."

The GT-R has got to be the tuner of the moment. But theres also a NISMO 370Z coming too. They're on a roll!!

Who is better for aftermarket parts Nismo or HKS?

for the GTR its not comparable. NISMO doesnt offer aftermarket parts for the R35 GTR.. The ones they did a few years back were just R&D parts that became the specV and now track pack. They do offer a rental program for ECUs in Japan that offers a mild improvement over stock. Across the board HKS offers a lot of engine tuning options for high HP builds where recently NISMO's offerings have been for subtle for their cars.

I wouldnt get your hopes too high on the NISMO Z at least until the Z35 platform debuts ( thats almost 2 more years off) the NISMO Z they are releasing globally is the same car that has been offered in the states for years now thats basically more for aesthetics than performance over the base car. They just relaunched it this year along side the NISMO juke with a new color scheme that looks similar to the NISMO 350Z i used to have

That's just a rendering that someone made up. We already know the next one is confirmed, nobody knows what it will look like though.

Next Nissan GT-R Nismo to Boast More than 570 BHP

Auto Evolution
According to Top Gear, quoting a Nissan spokesman, the new GT-R Nismo will deliver “more than 570 BHP” and “will be of great value and offer the same concept as other Nismo products: more power, better handling and improved looks”. As expected, the new amount of power will enable the GT-R to surpass its current Nurburgring lap record, which stands at 7 minutes and 18 seconds.

Curious what the scale will be for "great value." The current car is by no means overpriced (not with the prices of the 911 Turbo soaring as well), but the current base price of the regular car is a far cry from the 70 grand it started at, and I can't imagine a full on Nismo version will be wallet-friendly.

great value to me would be right under 125K based on what its expected to be. The track edition features no real tangible upgrades and its 116K. End of the day It shouldn't exceed $130K
