I was messing around with the GT-R and used this setup and the car sound amazing:

Installed all turbo kits and engine stage 3
Installed 6 Speed close-ratio Transmission
All Drivetrain Parts Installed
Sports Exhaust although It did give the car a meatier sound but I did not like so much so I went back to stock exhaust but try it out for yourself to see if it works for you because my friend said he liked the sound with the sports exhaust.

I did not install Titanium Racing Exhaust and the Manifold because it made the car sound more like a vacuum cleaner and the fully customizable transmission made the car sound like a electric motor.

I use a Sony Stereo headphones and tested the sound on special stage route 7 night and the car was beast, especially when you idle the car then immediately accelerate. Does not sound like a vacuum cleaner like most cars do.

I am definitely will save up and get a Nissan GT-R because they don't cost as much as a Lamborghini, Ferrari or any other expensive sports cars.

Try weight reduction. I'm not sure about the 1st Stage, but the others make it so it sounds louder, for lack of a better ending of sentence.

Yes I installed the weight reduction, window weight reduction and even put a carbon hood and the car sounds amazing on my Sony stereo headphones. I hear the sound more clearly and I forgot to mention it sounds amazing in the Cockpit, if you drive the car in any other view such as bumper, hood, etc. The car will sound loud and awful. This game should be played in the cockpit view because the sound is what it sounds in real life, if you drive on the highway, you will hear wind sounds even with the windows down.

It's awesome playing with headphones on. It definitely feels more immersive that way (if you don't have a great setup, which mine is only good enough). Only reason I don't do it more often is because I don't have legitimate headphones. Did you get THEE Sony headphones? By "thee", I mean the ones that came out kind of recently. I want/ed to get them since their value is worth it.

The wind sounds were JUST added if you didn't know. I'm not exactly sure what update. It could have been the last one.

I bought the Sony MDR-XD200 Stereo Headphones and they work great with Gran turismo 5, Battlefield 3, etc. I know the wind sound effects were added in the last update and they make the cockpit view sound like in real life because driving in real life, you will hear wind unlike most racing games that have cockpits, you will hear the loud engine alone which makes it feel like your driving next to the exhaust or on top of the hood of the car. The wind effects were a nice touch and makes driving in the cockpit more real.

Some people find the wind effects excessive, but I agree with you. There are still some cars that sound like vaccuum cleaners, but it's really nothing wrong with how PD's sound department records them. Improvements can always be made, but it's pretty damn sweet the way the sounds are now.

I thought about it today and I feel reallllllllllly bad that some people can't update their games. It must suck not knowing what they have. lol

Yeah I feel bad for those who can't update and your right, the sounds in some cars do sound like vacuum cleaners but it makes you think if they had no choice but to use a vacuum for some sounds because think about it, there is 1031 cars and imagine how long it would take them to give each car its own unique sound and in real life some cars do sound the same but they have a distinctive sound so I cant blame PD because everything else they got right. The only complain would be the some of the car sounds.

Game sounds amazing with a good surround system :D

I disagree actually. On part that surround systems happen to annoy my brother (me and him study a lot at home so no loud sounds!)

And having a real good pair of headphones is cheaper than an all out surround sound.

But surround sound systems with high quality stuff is great to hear after a long day in traffic.

Sorry for asking such a noob question,

I am looking for a good pair of headphones, but my question is: don't laugh,
does the PS3 offer a dedicated headphone jack? or must we use the jack provided by our TV's or receivers? Also, is there any good quality Bluetooth headset, or a headset I can use on the USB port of the PS3? It seems like the market is lacking on such accessories for the PS3...

I have Plantronics USB (with their own DSP) on my PC, they serve me well, but obviously, they don't work on the PS3.

If it's USB then it should be able to be used on a PS3.

I'd avoid Bluetooth. I had a bad history of blue tooth devices other than the controllers having interference problems.

Hehe, but who doesn't love the shaking in the floor and walls when a Ford GT40 (or any car really) is idling, not forgetting the unbelivable sound you get when giving full throttle? :D

Oh I love the low rumble of that V8.

Shame my neighbors don't.:grumpy:

Things like the sport cat and exhaust manifold don't make any difference to the sound actually. Or the drivetrain parts.

I've got the new Sony wireless headphones and GT sounds great with these.

^^^^ That's good to hear. I've looked for reviews that mentioned GT5 in them, but that was within the first month those headphones released. Thanks for that. 👍 👍 👍

Sport exhaust, you meant to say?

Sport car wouldn't make any sense, but I thought it was audibly clear enough that Sport exhaust upgrades change the sound.

I've figured that.

I, also, just recently found out you were in GT Academy. I thought your avatar looked familiar, but I figured it was of a professional racer  :dopey:

I wonder how many other people didn't have a clue, because I search for anything "GT" often, yet I only JUST found out a couple weeks ago.

👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍

I was hoping, at least, one of the competitors was on GTP.

Jann Mardenborough used to be from the European GT Academy and I found that out when I discovered you were a competitor in the US version. I matched your glasses in a picture, after seeing your GTP name. :)

Sorry for being off-topic, but people need recognition for their accomplishments from time to time.

Yea I Know but they make the car drive better which can make a difference because why drive a nice sounding car with crappy handling...catch my drift.

I got a headset for christmas (Turtle Beach P11) and the sound was good but not as good as our surround system. However i decided to get a Turtle Beach DSS Earforce adapter which gives brilliant results by simulating surround on stereo headphones. You can hear cars coming from behind and the side and it also has a bass enhancer. I think there might be a replacement coming out shortly.

It's a great alternative when you need to be quiet.
