Nissan Sentra SE-R

I was wondering what everyone thinks about the new sentra se-r. Some of the specs are a little better but I think the front looks pretty ****ty compared to the older one. The older one was built off the skyline, which is ****ing sweet. The only problem with the old one is that the pre-catalyst was all screwed up and they had to recall the car to replace that part. The car is nice though, it is just waiting to have a cool air intake put on it because of the way the engine is modeled. Anyway just post what you think about either one.

I will post soon with a pic of my moded 2001 sentra se-r

the older one was built off the sentra. whoever told you it came off the skyline was lying to you big time.

yeah the monotooth look that nissan is going with is questionable in my eyes.

The older SE-R was never built off the Skyline. Ever.

The original Sentra SE-R is a nice car, sharing the 140-hp 4 with the Infiniti G20. Light weight and LSD made it a goer, though not quite as successful in Club racing (where the rules are very strict) as the Neon ACR. I would be happy to own one, though. They are reliable and mod well.

The second-gen SE-R (based on the 200SX) was a little underpowered and had lost some of its edge. A decent car, but not up to par with the original.

The new SE-R Spec V kind of disappointed me when I drove it. It was very comfortable driving position, but the handling was not as good as I expected. I don't know what they are selling for at the moment, but comparing sticker prices, I'd by the SRT instead.

Yeah, ummm, OK, sher. It also says this:
If a unique very desirable and truly pristine vehicle at the lowest possible price is what you are looking for, you need to look no further.
Then down at the bottom it says this:
RECONDITIONED TITLE. HIT LIGHTLY ON THE FRONT. Professionally REPLACED FENDER, HOOD AND BUMPER. NO structural OR FRAME DAMAGE. You would NEVER KNOW if we didn't tell you. AIR BAG COVERS REPLACEd, but NOT the actual airbags.
So I'd say their credibility is pretty much shot down in flames. "Hit lightly" does not generate a Reconditioned or Salvage title on a car that new, no way no how.

The SE-R is a blunder on the behalf of Nissan....For one the transmission they gave it destroys itself rather quickly, and nissan has yet to fix that problem...Second, the internals on the engine are that of a standard womans car, It's lacking the traditional SE-R beef like all the others had.....However on the good side...the Spec V's head design is spectacular......If nissan could figure a way to get the head of the QR25DE with the bottom end of the SR20DET to work...it'd truely be a beast....too bad the car looks like azz

I actually like the thing - decent spec, sensible options prices ($700 for ABS and side airbags together), and class-leading power (yet not class-leading price). It's solidly reliable - the original transmission problem was corrected last year, and it hasn't had any general problems besides that. Problem is everybody's expecting an enthusiastic drive, when that isn't is purpose - take it for the 175bhp range-topping Sentra that it is and you'll be loads happier with it.

Dude, i was walking in this parking lot and this SE-R comes flying up, and i literally had to jump outta the way so i didn't get hit by this *****'s ride, and it was the scariest thing ever. Seriously.

i didn't say the whole car was built off the skyline. the front of the car highly resembles a skyline though unlike the new sentra se-r which i think the front looks crappy.

There is no such thing.

And the Skyline thing, Although I do believe the seats were borrowed from one of the Skyline models.

The Sentra SE-R and SE-R Spec V actually came out in 2002, so his point was that there's no such thing as a 2001 SE-R.

The original Sentra Se-R ran from 91-94. Other Sentras with the SR20 were the 98 - 01 SE. As M5Power pointed out, there was no Se-R made in 2001, just a Sentra SE with the sr20de, but it is still not an Se-R.
