Nitrous in Japan?

Everybody knew what Nitrous was(at least guys), so I'd think somebody was using them in Japan. When I was kid in the 80's, we used to call them Nitolo. Pronounciation of "Nitro" in Japanese. :)

Might not be legal to have, but then again I don't think it's legal to have in a street car here in America either. That's more then likely why you don't see it, either that or they hide the bottles which is pretty common.

But yes they do have nitrous (thank God you didn't say NOS our I would have to make fun of you) in Japan.

Where did you hear that one, EvO? I'm aware of the Skylines and Fairladys the highway patrols use, but never heard of nitrous being equipped by them.

Edit: I googled little bit, but couldn't find any information on NOS :D being used by Japanese Police. However, I did find this cool site featuring Japanese cop cars!: http://www2.famille.ne.jp/~mst-hide/vs/pc.html

P.S. If you are Japanese tax payer, no need to flip over the NSX police car. They claim it was donated by Honda.

Nice police cars... I was once stopped by japanese police car ( no police colors, normal car ) on my way back to Tokyo because of speeding ( 150 km/h vs 80 km/h ).
They were nice and friendly, I didn't have to pay anything, we talked a bit about cars since one of the police officers drove a BMW.... then he said I should only drive about 100 km/ h and that was it : 👍 👍 👍
Here in Germany I would have payed 300 $ or more 👎

 NIPPON !!!

Bach to the nitrous thing, I don't believe they use it a lot, I buy a lot raving dvd's and I strongly focus on japanese cars, I really like to watch wangan racing, touge and street drifting and I havn't seen one that uses Nitrous... I saw a MCR R34 once that had a kind of overboost button that had something to do with the turbo performance and not with NOS... 400 m races do not play a such an important role as in the US, as I said there is by far more drifting, "gripping" (highway racing) and of course touge racing... and I'm glad to be honest....

I heard it from a friend, which is why I wanted to know if anyone had a site which said so. Really nice cop cars though!

I'm pretty sure it is legal in japan. Come to think of it i thought the US was very lenient on car modifications too, it's legal in the UK.

We can swap engines in Australia but we cant legally run Nitrous on the streets.

Where is it illigal to swap engines? (besides Russia, where you need government inspection to legalize it. That probably doesn't happen very often).

I think N2O is street legal in Canada. If it wasn't I think this might attract some attention.

Ah well... that picture says nothing... I mean "not allowed" doesn't say that many people have illegal mods on their cars. Here in Germany you are not eben allowed to put on metal pedals or white blinkling lieghts on your car without either a permission or losing automatically the permission to drive with this car on an open road... And we also have all kind of tuned cars on the street that can't even dream of a permission.....

Maybe Germany's more lenient. I think if N2O was illigal in Canada he'd get a hefty ticket from any cop that spotted that. Some illigal mods are easier to police then others.
(I kinda just wanted to post the picture)

Well you also have to consider whether or not law enforcement cares. There's all kinds of people driving around with illegal tail lights, too loud an exhaust (or lack thereof), too dark a window tint, etc. But oftentimes cops really don't care, depending on where you live. Nitrous isn't any different I don't think.

I doubt the nitrous wouldn't be revealed in the magizine.

Honestly, I don't think that there are many places on the world with such strict rules concerning cars in the world... As I said : buy white blinking lights or a high quality shift knob from Japan and put in your car : For every car there is a list of tuning parts taht is allowed and you get the papers for it; Every other tuning part has to be warched by the authorities before you are allowed to put in on your car. And for many parts you will never get a permission : Let's say a 8000 $ carbon hood from Japan, you know best quality around.... If you want to drive with this hood here in Germany, you have to make at least 5 crash tests with you this hood !!! Why? Because german authorities don't know the part and this hood could kill people in a crash by slpitting into sharp parts or whatever.... Back to your imported white blinking lights : Worth 30$ and you don'tr want to get papers for it ( 120 $ + ) so you just put them on : You loose the permission to drive with this vehicle and also your insurence ( well not the complete insurence : Mainly you loose the insurence concernig your car, so they won't pay for your car, but still for others cars and person you hit in an accident )...

But of course police doesn't always care or know everything.... Many people get away with it, some people here have nitrous ( oh btw there is one shop in Germany that can legally tune your car with nitrous and you may drive on open roads with it ) or suspension, wheels, engine and exhaust tuning that is not allowed, oh and of course body parts.... It's not that police doesn't controll it, but often they get away with it...
