Come on dummies, none of you know what a shot of nitrous is, except TR-5. It's a shot of HP, 50hp, 70hp, etc. etc... XCNuse and flip_kc79, it's not 50, 70, or 100 shots of nitrous... Do you push the button 100 times??? NO! All the 50, 70, and 100 means is, that is how much HP you gain by using the nitrous. When you hit the nitrous button, you are giving your motor and extra 50, 70, HP (or whatever you have it set on) via the nitrous. It's a shot of Horse Power. Thats why it lasts longer if you have it on a lower setting like 30, because you are'nt shooting as much nitrous into the motor, and you wont go as fast, but you can use it longer. Hope I cleared it up for ya! And it's not NOS! NOS is a nitrous company called Nitrous Oxide Systems. I don't think anybody refered to it as NOS on here, but people always do!

Why can't it be NOS? It is a Nitrous Oxide System anywho, its just a name and its easier and faster to say than nitrous oxide system. Lots of people say "Hand me a kleenex" even if its not kleenex brand tissue, its just used in general for tissue. Maybe in the game they meant "NOS" as Nirtous Oxide System???...

nitrous oxide manufacturers rate their kits differently. for example, Nitrous Oxide Systems rate their kits as Wheel HP gain, whereas Zex rate their kits at Flywheel HP gain. so a 50 NOS shot gives you 50 more hp at the bags, whereas a 50 Zex shot gives you 50 more hp at the flywheel, less than 50hp at the wheels

there are also different types of N2O systems, wet (mixes with fuel) and dry (separate n2o addition controlled by vacuum), as well as plate injection and direct port injection, which affect the power output levels you obtain and how the engine performs with nitrous oxide added (distribution, mixture, etc)

i have no idea how GT4 models the kit, but it certainly doesn't seem to be very realistic. in real life, you wouldn't hold the go button down for more than 15-20 seconds at a time or you'd probably fry the engine, in GT4 you can just hold it down till the bottle runs out. you also wouldn't really use n2o below 2500-3000rpm because the engine doesn't have enough airflow and would probably lean out and detonate

it also seems to have more of an effect in the game on worked engines. the 100 shot on my mx5 was fun but doesn't do much. a 100 shot on my mates' 855hp Z LM concept makes it go so much faster it's insane

I dont think so, my 900 kw N1 skyline is on like 70 shot, no way the nitrous give it and extra 630 kw.

well, theres no way my subaru 360 got 100 hp :indiff:

Edit: Also see the last paragraph of Super Jamie's post.

NOS is the only supplier N2O, fool ...

Haven't you ever been to the dentist ? Big blue bottle with a big NOS label sitting right there ...

Open your eyes, man !

What about Nitrous Express?

..or do they only make the systems.

I wouldn't know.

Save it for the drag strip.

They shouldn't have allowed nitrous in races.

A 150 shot is a common size for stock LS1 based cars. I have seen stock Vipers spray a 300 shot. The shot sizes go up from there depening on how built the motor is.

So yeah, it would have been cool if the shot sizes were a little bigger in-game.

Well it's becuse of the limitation of stock pistons, Forged pistons are usually required for anything over 200Hp, many motors require forged pistons at a much lower level.

Plenty of street legal cars running 200+, just not alot of em with the stock short-block assembly. A friend with a 383 in his 75' Vega runs a 250 shot, and he drives it to work almost everyday (not in the rain).

venom formulates their own nitrus. and for anyone still looking for the answer to the original question, the 50 - 70 - 100 shot setting is there to gauge the weight of the injection. metric ounces i believe, depending on the displacment.

Try reading the script in the settings..when they are speaking of the percentage of concentration maybe that will ring a bell . :dopey: You have seen it right ? The little writing that explains things ?

NOS is a fuc'king company. Its called nitrous oxide end of discussion.
Whats the largest shot that we are able to use in a race. Ive seen street cars with 150hp shots.

its just easy to spell NOS than nitrous oxide... Well... I'm guilty of it as well, I just can't remember the spelling sometimes... People know what people mean when they write NOS so whats the harm... Most of them also know that NOS is a company name so meh...
But then... That is good marketing from the company... Props to the guy who named the company I guess... 💡

this guy is gota be full of it and just trying to get a rise out of people.

by the way when i go to the dentist i see a green or grey bottle with a green sticker the says oxidiser with nitrous oxide written under it.

not a blue bottle with a big NOS sticker on it.

The most of seen on a stock car is 200 shot on camaro. Do you have a link to that viper. Ive never seen anything more than 200 on a streetlegal car. Maybe in a drag car.
I think someone needs to keep their wild facts in better order.

You've contradicted and exposed yourself in the same thread.

Lets forget:

Venom
Nitrous Xpress
ZEX
TNT

I own a performance shop and sell Nitrous Xpress more then NOS.

Main reasons being that NX has quick release stainless steel brackets instead of bulky brackets other companies provide. The solenoids have a purge port directly located in the side of the solenoid. The solenoids have stainless steel bodies and a Teflon seat which is basically indestructible. Nitrous Xpress has a lifetime warranty on all their stuff. Nitrous Xpress has 100x better customer service for customers and dealers then NOS. I could go on and on all day but I think you get the point.

Regards,
Kevin
