No D-Pad? Fanatec GT2

Kind of curious, I have no D-pad functions in AC. The buttons don't respond in wheel setup. Is this normal or do I need more research?

It is normal, but you use joy2key if you want to use them.

As I understand joy2key, it programs a controller to work with the game. I have a dpad on my wheel, but it doesn't seem to read it. With joy2key, would I be able to program a function to the keyboard and with joy2key, then map it to my wheel?
