No english in the chinese version of GT4

I think I may still keep the order since I'm chinese myself, so it shouldn't be much of a problem with the text

Um, what's your beef with it? Unless you're stationed in China and only speak English, I can't see any difficulties.tre
My guess is that he pre-ordered the import, so he could be the first one on his block playing GT4. Looks like it's all for naught now. 
The only time I get imports instead of domestic is when I don't really care too much about the product. Example: Star Trek DVDs. I'm a big fan of all of the Trek series, except DS9. I never got into it as much as TNG and the rest, and I missed a few seasons while I was in the military. So when the time came to stock up my DVD collection, I opted to save myself a few hundred bucks by getting DS9 as an Asian import. Higher compression, slightly lower quality, and there's various Chinese characters on the cover. Normally, that would be unacceptable, but it worked for me in that particular instance. I've purchased domestic versions of the rest of them.
The same would go for GT4. Sure, I could probably order the Japanese version, but why? By the time it got here, the time until the American release could probably be counted in hours. And there would always be parts of the menus that I couldn't read, that are being displayed in Japanese or Chinese. I'd have to fumble my way through the game until I learned what everything did, rather than being able to simply read it on-screen. And the kids would always be asking why I've got a "weird" copy of the game. And what happens if I happen to get a bad disc? Hell, I'd be screwed. Send it back to Japan, and wait for a replacement?
OR, I wait. Eleven days. A whopping week and a half... and get a version I can play right out of the box without problems. And without a modchip, I might add.

I ordered both Japanese and Chinese versions. I'm a freak like that, want to have all versions to be able to compare the difference, watch replays and so on. I'd also like to learn both languages.
But I do wonder, if they can't manage to get the Chinese version in English, who's to say that they can manage a U.S. version in time?

That's a bad idea, judging by the GT4 Prologue editions (which I all have). The Chinese version had English names for the cars, where the Japanese had the names in Japanese/Kanji.
This has also to do with why the Chinese version is referred to the Asian version, and why that version also originally had an English language option (like the Asian GT3 does have). The Asian version is aimed at all countries in Asia except Japan and Korea. The biggest languages in Asia are Chinese and English, in that order.

Interesting point (I have the Korean and Asian versions of GTP). Nonetheless, I have based my selection on menu differences between the Japanese and HK versions of GTC.Arwin
Edit: I have just checked the Chinese version of GTC 2002. As in the case of Prologue, the cars are referred to in English. Arwin, I think you may have changed my order. 👍

I will also wait for the american version. I have several import games and sometimes it can be a pain to get around if you dont understand the language. I can just wait. We waited this long, whats another few weeks.

Seriously though, it's not that difficult to play the Japanese/Chineese version of the game anyway, i've played the Japanese version from GT1 to GTC. Most things can be figured out from trial and error, and the licences all have demonstrations so if you can't understand the text you have a visual. And also that's where forum members come in handy, either helping to translate screenshots or give screenshots of the American version to compare.
I'll buy the pal version as well, when it comes out next year.

I'll my GT copies from 1 to 3 and Concept are all Japanese version and never had any problems figuring out what to do. All the mods and race are pretty much common sense.
I would never resort to the PAL copy. Cant stand black boarders and 50hz speed. 👎
I hate the BMW demo, the menu screen is stupidly slow.

Maybe PD will use their brain and put a 50/60hz selector in the pal version. I didn't notice a speed difference in GT3 Pal and GT3 JP, although it was noticable on the PS1 games. Also I like to read the car descriptions like in GT2, although I hope they don't use that damn marquee like in GT3.
And yes I hate that stupid menu selection system in the BMW demo, it's a step back from the one in Prologue.

I have the Japanese version of GT3 and I do regret it. I'm Chinese but I can't read Japanese unless it's those chinese/Japanese characters. I can get around playing the game fine but i hate to go into the itty gritty stuff on the modification section on the car. i.e. down force, camber etc. I would really like to get into those and see if there's any difference after modification. So make up your mind, you should get the Japanese version if you are fine with that or if you plan on getting the Eng version later on. I do think you will enjoy an understandable much more.
