I have searched GTP several times and found no existing discussion of this topic. The first-generation RX7 is not on the official GT5 car list. How could this be? I really can't imagine how PD could so thoroughly document the Nissan GT-R/Skyline and Silvia, Toyota Supra and Celica, Mitsubishi GTO/3000 and Lancer/Evolution, etc. and completely ignore this car. Granted it did not re-write any books or rules, but it was a good sports car that started a model line that ended with what is "arguably the purest sports car from any Japanese manufacturer" (Efini).

Here's a pic of the first gen... doesn't this belong in GT5?

Thoughts? Thanks!

My friend. You are talking about a car that in tuned versions has won Pikes Peak
(not sure if class win or total), IMSA championships andother races. It deserves being in GT as it was in previous versions. Big fail IMHO!

Agreed, except the big fail part. I haven't lost any sleep over it.

No not really as the RX-7 wasn't really acclaimed until the series 2 Savanna which is very prevalent in GT.

Double posting doesn't count, and 1k is the daily workload fpr some here, no big deal.

Not true.

The original RX7 was a landmark vehicle and was praised highly by the automotive press. I lived through the dark days of automotive doldrums-the mid to late 70's. All small sports cars had been neutered by emission standards and/or had become overweight and shells of their former selves. The RX7 was like a burst of fresh air-there hadn't been a lightweight quick affordable sports car since the 69-72 240Z. It got as much press attention as the new Toyota/Subaru 86GT gets today.

Man, I wanted one but never got one. A buddy bought one so I got to have some seat time. That car handled incredible, so fun on twisty roads. Always willing to rev. Seems like there was one in an early GT game.

While the 1st gen RX-7 is missing from the game PD did include the L10A/B which was the true start of their lightweight rotary powered sports cars.

I'm more concerned by the absence of the 1st gen Mustang notchbacks as they created a revolution in the American automotive industry that still echos to this day.
However as has already been pointed out these cars and others have already been covered in other threads.:D

I could've sworn such a car was in the game, but after searching my garage, I found I had none. I never bothered to check the official list, so my fears were unconfirmed. Now I see that it's true, and that's quite shocking, really. Amazing that, in a game with every Skyline ever produced, as well as every Miata that ever rode off the assembly line, there is no first generation RX-7. Why? There's an abundance of FDs in the game, as well as FCs. Even the RX-8 has a generous amount of variations in the game.
What a shame. 👎

Have thou forgotten about the Shelby GT350?

I would like to see a non g-nose 240z on gt5 though. the G-nose just looks nasty to me. That and a few classic trucks (i.e. Nissan D21, older chevy's, the older f series trucks that are mentioned in the museum or even an old yota).
