No More A-Spec Points?

I guess there is no way of keeping track of A-Spec points, huh?

This is a small bummer because I used to try to get as many points I could in the races. Now there is no way of knowing how hard the race actually was. I might have thought that I just had a tough race, when it would've been only worth 5 A-Spec points in GT4. There is just no way of gauging it.

Unless I'm missing something?

Is it possible that the amount of Experience Points you receive after a race is based on the race difficulty? You got more A-spec points in GT4 if you didn't upgrade the power, rubber, or some suspension parts -- though adding the LSD had no effect -- and how your car compared competition-wise against the cars the game threw at you. Is it possible that that is reflected in GT5 in the Experience Points awarded?

It could be, but how would you know if you're getting more for using a less powered car?

At least with the Aspec points, if you were doing a 100-200 point race, you knew beforehand that it was gonna be a tight one.

It just seems that the little things were left out.

So much for the 200 Aspec point race club...:indiff:

I guess it is possible but the only way to determine that would be to play two or more different games noting winning each race with a different car and comparing the level-up progress.

Under those circumstances it seems highly unlikely that would be the case.

It is very disappointing there is no carry over of the Aspec point feature from GT4. It would add a another whole dimension of challenge to GT5, just as it did GT4.

I dont believe the Experience Points are based on race difficulty.

I did an amateur race, won gold on the final corner with my stock civic and got the same amount of points as I did when I tried out my pre-order stealth car (the 200 mph+ Mazda) on a different amateur event.

So no, i think you get the same amount of points regardless of what car you use, which is a shame coz i was proud pf my win with the civic.

I was never a fan of A-Spec points in GT4. Largely because you had no way of knowing how many points a race was worth (and thus no idea of how difficult a race would be) going in. Except in the case of the Dodge Ram glitch.

And you never got anything from A-Spec points. It woud have been nice to get a prize car or bonus payout for reaching certain targets, like 2000 A-Spec points in 15 races or something.

I agree.
It was still far from what its true potential and consistency could have been, but the replay value aspect and challenge it added was immeasurable.

The concept was truly borderline genius, adding a hidden level play system and a complete mystery level of challenge at the same time.

I can't believe PD did not exploit the potential of this system in GT5.

Never liked a spec points.. this new system seems to be better though just givingyou points forthe race no matter what car you use ..much better.

I thought we would see a revised version of a-spec points in GT5 for sure. It gave much needed (even though flawed) replay value to the a-spec events in GT4. I remember reading somewhere that Kaz never finished implementing that system prior to the release of GT4. I don't know if that is true or not but being able to see how many points a race is worth based on car and tuning and then trying to get the maximum points for a given event in GT5 would have been brilliant.
