How can they have rally but none of the iconic Audi Quattros?
How can they have nascar without dodge, or Richard Petty's Superbird?
How can they have dtm without an e30 m3 or any modern dtm's?
How do they have a racing game or group c without Porsche?

All of these waste of space Japanese cars need to be replaced by historically significant European and American cars. I really don't need a skyline v-spec 1,2, midnight purple, nür, special wheels, cup holder, etc. This is the most culturally biased game period. They have no respect for motorsport.
 
Did you think that maybe they dont have the licences for those cars because they might be portrayed in other games?

Or that they dont have the time to research and model every car in existence?
 
They have NASCAR, Dodge, Audi, BMW, Superbird, and DTM all but Porsche is already liscenced, there is no excuse to modeling cars when there are so many ridiculous pointless japanese cars that they have modeled. I can't be alone here. And they should have paid for Porsche.

Right on Deutsch. I couldn't agree more. They painstakingly offer a ton of variants for uninspiring vehicles and overlook some obvious and outright icon grade cars. Fully agreed to Sniper that licencing may come into play on some of these issues but certainly not even close to all. There's an absolute massive wealth of interesting 80's IMSA GTU/O/P cars begging to be part of this game as well. Among gobs of other racecars from great series' around the globe. There needs to be some utilitarian transport in the game, and it needs its share of mundane civic offerings but the balance to me is way off. It's a shame.
 
Kaz speaks only japanese. That has to say something. And yes, culturally biased, but I don't think Kaz appreciates the fact that people react on a situation like this. It's kinda like just seeing a bucket of water when the ocean is around.
Or then he just made the game firsthand to japanese gamers. Maybe both.

Kaz is asian, he puts asian cars in his game...because he's asian! He likes asian cars, grew up around them, they are his heritage. So what if wants to put a whole bunch of his people's cars in the game? It's his right dammit, his game! Now yes, I'd love to add an e30 in my garage next to my 190e and 155 however I'm not going to make a damn fool of myself by saying Kaz, who raced in the 24h of nurburgring for chrissakes, has no respect for motorsport.

Also, Kaz is a perfectionist, so probably if he cannot get a real life example of the car he wants, he will not put it in his game, because he cannot correctly program its driving behaviour. enough ranting yeesh..


Between this and all the people duping cars in this game i swear...

maybe if people actually played the game correctly, they wouldn't be running out of cars to drive.

Well Kaz I suppose is in the seat of power so it's his choice, but to me that's a selfish decision. It's an extremely global game, and there's no reason it should be approached to cater to the Japanese market. I'm sure they have the payroll to do the proper research and do justice to a lot of the different racing diciplines from around the globe past and present and balance it out better. Some spec open wheel would be awesome, and completely easy. They only have to model one car, then just change the car colours. Done. They could do stepping stone open wheel series' culminating in the FGT. Formula Ford, Star Mazda, Formula Atlantic, F3, F1 (FGT). Or whatever. Maybe there's some open wheel series' that are better... those are just off the top of my head.

No respect for Motorsport may be a little harsh, but a neglect in better exploring more options I think does exist.
 
you should stay away from GT5, if you have so much to complain.
Make your own game and let us see how best you can achieve.

I'll tell you who's intelligence level should be questioned, yours. I am stating that they have racing series' without many of the significant/dominant cars that raced. I'm sure you and kaz have a healthy relationship so thanks for backing him up but this was not meant as a hit against him. I just feel that many of the events in this game are lacking because of the lack of important vehicles and that dilutes the specific events I.e. nascar, rally, dtm. Hell he didn't even do right by his own market by making the Mkiv supra premium. So Mr. Jdm sympathizer I hope this post is ok with you. I would have preferred for you to have stayed on the subject of lacking important cars rather than supporting this man's nationalistic views.

Ok so you think the Nissan Skyline is more iconic than The Likes of the Audi Quattro, Get some history lessons son The Quattro Deserves to be in GT5 more than any Skyline/GT-R it changed the face of rallying, Not only that but the Audi Quattro is the reason the Mercedes 190e went up against the Bmw e30 M3 in circuit racing instead of rallying !!!

Well inho, it would seem that we just may want more than what these consoles are able to give or unwilling to give. I really think the issue comes down to cold hard cash. The game only sells for $60 and don't get me wrong that is a nice chunk of change, but for the likes of the content we would want I don't think it is enough overall to make it viable to create. I would really like to see the pc sim comunity step up and make a game to challenge gt5 and forza in the deparment of visuals and overall feel.
 
Everyone's sense of entitlement to the cars they want in the game is ridiculous. And for op's information, I would never buy new japanese over german or american, they're all bloated and unspirited, but then that's the trend nowadays I suppose.

Anyways, I'm sure Kaz would love to include all these famous icons of motorsport in his game, however he probably doesn't have as convenient access to them as does he have access to all the asia-man cars which are in close proximity to him on top of him being a god in his country. If you aren't insulting Kaz for not knowing motorsport then who are you insulting? Kaz is gran turismo, so I don't get that statement.

The game as is is beyond anything I've played anyways so I don't know..maybe that's why I'm not complaining. Wait for GT6 where there's not a major physics engine overhaul and then you can complain if they don't have a more complete list of racing heritage.

they could have brought
lambo Diablo
ferrari DINO, GTO
corvette lengenfilter (Like in FM3)
etc...

you are still acting like kaz owes you something you didn't have to buy the game. How should he know that you love the audi quattro so much, and why should he care? There are plenty of cars that people want that weren't included, buy the game or don't but he doesn't owe you a thing.

I really doubt it was easier for PD to gain access to a VW Kubelwagen or a Ford Model T than it would have been to gain access to an Audi Quattro.

We know they can get access to cars like Auto Union & Chaparral, which are not readily available anywhere. So proximity doesn't really as large of an issue as it can be. It seems more about choosing as wisely and prioritizing the important cars.

I think there is a good reason for so many duplicate cars in GT5, numbers.

It is easier to build another Civic or Skyline variant, if they have one and they want a variant of the same model it is easy to tweak the existing model, if they want a new car they need to build it from the ground up.

What I have noticed is some cars feel great and some don't feel very realistic at all. I think it is a case of trying to deliver too much and a case of trying to appear better than everyone else. I have no doubt Kaz wanted to model a great number of cars as realistic as possible but the process took too much time. I think as time went on they realised they needed to be able to model cars more quickly and boost the number of cars so that the number of cars would seem more impressive than any of the competition.

Once you play the game you realise the number of cars isn't that impressive if you don't count duplicates and undesirable cars.

I really don't thinks so or this game would not be released it's heading in the right way but it's flawed not enough content too much eye candy:tdown:

Who said I even like the Audi Quattro coz I certainly don't like it but I still know about some of the history regarding it, Also I play GT5 because the graphics are top notch and its the only driving game that is atleast half challenging

When I spend $120AUD, and wait 6 years for the thing, I have a right to complain. As does anyone else who paid for it..

I think GT5 is great, I play it at least an hour a day (which is a lot considering the long hours I work). I do however, think it needs a larger variety of cars. There are so many bloody skylines, it's ridiculous! They are a cool car, but when compared to others, they are quite boring IMO.

I would love to see Formula Ford in the game too. I raced these professionally for 12 years, before moving onto up into the GT3 cup.

FM1/2/3 have Porsche, why can't GT5?

I'm pretty happy I can take the Forza R and Mclaren F1 for a spin though!!
 
What really ticks me off is that there are non of the GT1 or GT3 cars from the international GT series. Guess I'll just have drag my PC downstairs and get GTR to get my racing fix.
 
Kaz did not make GT5 for Kaz. The point of releasing a game at all is to make money, and you do that my making something people want to play, not something that appeals to only yourself.

While I do actually enjoy a good number of Skylines, there is no denying the vehicular content is exceptionally unbalanced. Perhaps not so much in the way of Japanese cars, but simply cars that nobody actually wants to drive (old VWs, rubbish Daihatsus, etc).

The car catalogue is also painfully outdated, featuring a pitifully small number of recent model cars from ALL manufactures in ALL categories and racing series.
