ok: here's the official start of no rules brand racing - the first race of the tournament.

norulesbrandracinground1.jpg

since this is a no rules tournament only very few things are there to remember.
you have to race 6 tracks in 6 weeks driving 6 different cars of 1 german car manufacturer in gt4.
you are encourages to publish laptimes, car choices and settings but there are no obligations.

laptimes for race 1 must be in by wednesday the 4th of october by 1900 pm central european time by posting in this thread stating brand, car, arcade/gt mode, track order (normal or reverse) and your fastest laptime.

if you finish first, second or third you will post a finish photo of your uploaded result showing track, car and laptime.
since there are 22 participants in this tournament, for each race points will be rewarded as follows: first driver gets 22 points, seconds driver gets 21 points, ..., one but last driver gets 2 points and final driver gets 1 point.
so, gentlemen and gentlegirl, start your engines, rev up and show the rest of the gtp world that 'clean lap only' rules are not the only fun way to drive gt4.

good luck from your race stewards ben and steven

Good luck to everyone, any problems/questions then either post in here or PM me or Steven. 👍

After race 1 the stewards will decide the track order as used for the tournament.

Once again, have fun and do well people!

Lol, I'm a good example for once, I completly forgot about the BMW McLaren, maybe I'll use it for round 2 .

Hi all.

I'll give this race a go tonight as I've not been having much success with WRS 75. :grumpy:

I'll be back later with some times, probably with the Abt TT.

Have fun everyone.....See you all at the finish, I'll be the one making all the screeching noise at the final turn while your all sitting at the finish line. :D

Darren.

well good luck on that darren. sort of jealous you can pick audis for this. it would have been my second brand choice.

So far, with only 5 laps or so under my belt, I've managed a 1'07.519 with a certain BMW...

Give us 30 minutes more and I'll shave 3 secs off.

How many of you are going to use race cars in the first race?
I just want to ask as I think I will save mine for later;).

Being a Volkswagen driver, racers are out of the question for me ;) .
I have got pehaps a tuner planned for this race, remember all Volkswagen people, the HPA Tuner Golf is allowed in the main races.

board updated

to james on car choice: if i were you i'd make a little list attaching cars to the six tracks answering the question: what car fits best where? thus you can make the best laptimes.

need to know if nightmarehunter's pm'd time can be published - your instructions please.

thanks - steven

edit
ALL PLAYERS are encouraged - but not obliged to - to post car choice, car setup and source if not original, race mode, and direction with their intermediate t- and laptimes. my guess is that a large part of our 22 is not in for winning but for the fun so that contingent will not have trouble to communicate their specifics. the racers-for-the-kill may post their times only....

more edit
downed my time but just by a bit. hope to get under the 1.07 this evening - still lots of potential using nos and slingshotting from ai racers.

Hey guys got my time down to 1:06.686, I gained alot of time with the use of nos and a bit of tuning, but slipstreaming sounds like a good idea.

LOL Bigracer, great time you got there, but Im not using a race car!!!

Oh and by the way, you got my details on the board wrong, this time I did use nos

Why do just the guys driving BMW, post their times, whats up people, lets see some life in this thread.

Yeah, but i'm still not sure what car to use where. As for a lap time,
I have two but i'm not sure what one to post but I will try tomorrow.
Also are we doing a race too or just posting lap times because you
have not said how many laps to do or if you want us to do a race.

Here's one for the VW team.

Twin Turb0wned. Even with the AI set at difficulty level 10 I have to slow down in the middle of the track and catch up on the straight to get slipstream speed. Stupid LMP cars.:grumpy:

I'm sure this will be a problem for me too...

well if you're slowed down by 'stupid' ai cars then don't pick that race mode. i tried slingshotting by waiting in the pits for the cars to pass, then do the test lap, one more to get closer to the field and a hotlap drafting one car in the long straight. but it didn't work out for me. the warmup laps costed me too much time and it's very difficult to end up in the right position for the drafting.
to me gt mode works best. i gave the second track a go in the 320i and csl beamers. huge difference in laptimes with arcade mode.

Im also having the same issue with slipstreaming, but I ended up using the minimul fuel as an advantage instead of slipstreaming,
well not like I gained any time yet.

LUKE, any chance that you would let us know whether you're using a race car or not?

First session and I've come up with this so far,

SuperT - Abt Audi TT-R Touring Car '02 - 1'09.102

And I've not even had a go with the bottle yet. :D 👍

Cya, Darren.

on your car choice, just think of long/short, fast/slow, corners/straights and you'll come up with a car/track matrix in no time.

on races and laps, remember this is a no rules tournament. you can do as many or as few as you want but just post your hotlap in this race thread.

i THINK this all is explained pretty clearly in the first post of the first thread but maybe not too much ...

Steven will be gone till tomorrow evening, I'll be here to answer any questions you may have 👍 .

So far the best I got out with a BMW M5 in arcade mode is a 1'26.727. Steven is right, it is really fun to cut that chicane just before the fast long right-hander. :)
