I just found out that ALL ENGINE SOUNDS FOR EVERY CAR in GT5 are comupter generated. Except for Lexus ISF and LFA thats it. This kinda makes sence cause no standard car sounds like the real life variant. Ex Mazda Furai. This makes me want to cry I thought all premuims were at least the real deal. Except the Super GT cars not one of them sounds real at all.

The acr sounds about right

Along with the Mazda 787B, and a few others. In fact, I remember footage from Prologue showing PD's team doing a sound recording session with a Nissan GT-R.

Kaz apologized for the poor engine sounds on the standard cars..

i don't really mind the sounds as long as i can hear when the revs go up and i should shift. Unless its the 787b because that's thing sounds amazing but that was a real engine sound.

have thought for a while that the engine sounds do need to be improved in the next GT. Just in race, the startup sounds in the garage are fantastic. I remember being thrilled to bits when I heard the startup noise for the RX-7 tc in the recent DLC, and very let down when I heard it on track

Your question is? Haha. Im not a narc so you have some time.
Seriously though. I don't think there all that bad. They, maybe not 100% acurate, but 5.1 is insane. You can hear cars from every direction, tunnel ambience. I always feel immersed.

I would say its about 50/50, the Shelby Series-1 on titanium pipes sounds pretty acurate, and the start noises when you get into the car are deffo recordings not computer, maybe used for more than one car but anyway. We all agree the sounds could be better, how much code and disk space are needed to put it right for ALL cars would be a potential limiting factor. You want better sound, or more DLC cars each update? PD can't do everything I guess, and the sounds don't annoy me so I'm happy. Gonna get in my XJ13 again now just to hear it fire again!

They ruined the 69 Corvette. I have to run stock exhuast just to stand driving it.

However, the older Ford GT cars sound niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

You are about to cry???

what i ment to say is that im about to Stop playing GT5, it just seems like we waited 5 years for 200 cars and Madrid, Toscana, the snow one, and course creator. Im sorry its just as the days go on i find something that i am disapointed with wether its sound or tires not functioning in weather. I hope my T500 RS adds a more of a intrest factor to it. It better for $700

If you ask me id say you are nitpicking at a still great game.

If you want a game that will be that perfect then you will be disappointed.

No game is perfect and gt5 is as good as it gets.

Yea Kaz and his team made garbage sounds for 99 percent of the cars. Its pathetic how such a game developer is allowed to butcher sound so much.

^Lol you obviously dont sim race on pc right?

I honestly think that there needs to be a few updates improving the sounds... even if it's just 50% of the premiums that get them sorted...

But the sounds are semi decent as they are tbf...

The Ford Mark IV sounds pretty similar.

PD should take quite a few leafs out of Turn 10's Handbook of how to make a game.

I have forza4 and gt5. To me all forza has going for them is the sound. Gt5 is better overall

That's why we want PD to improve the sound. To make the simulation and immersion factor even better, and to make GT5 what was supposed to be: a Revolution.

If PD recorded the same way forza did, they would have a hellofa lot of cars to go through. Turn10 toured around the world just to record loads of car sounds.

It seems that PD knows that is the right way to do it, but something tells me they are too lazy to do it.

I hate to think like that because i really love gt5 and all the gt' s that kaz and co have provided us since i was younger.

Last I looked there was over 1000 events, more online options, paint/vinyl editor and every car has detailed interior view....

With some of these, GT5 could be way better than most game on the market

Personal opinion.

What they should not take out of the Turn 10 game design manual:
  • Make every player's car sound like it has a V8 racing engine with no muffler, even stock street cars, so it drowns out every other sound but the loudest tire screeches. Note: I'm not a big fan of Forza 4's engine roars.
  • Use distortion effects on all engine sounds.
  • Outsource most of the modeling work, especially not to mostly Asian nations.
  • Use HDR lighting that make shadows look black.
  • Use the dumb parts of automotive entertainment shows, such as "car bowling."
  • Use a car list heavy in supercars and race cars over pedestrian level sports cars and sedans that mere mortals like us can own.
  • Milk a lot on fantasy tracks which have a number of configurations to pad the track list, versus having more discreet locations with fewer variations.
  • Be proud and outspoken. Stay humble and understated.
And if you're going to have a world class livery editor, for pete's sake, do quality checking to make sure it works right with the car models. Ditto with the bodykit options.

Can't please everyone but some of those would make it realistic .. Clearly you wouldn't want that then?

Sorry but i could careless about inside interior designing. Like i said i have forza4 and have seen what people do to their cars online, and that would look completly stupid if gt5 let player do whatever they wanted to a car.

I mean seriously, how would you look in a supercar race room with a decal of a barbie doll plastered on your hood? It gets really stupid sometimes with forza.

That designing option holds no weight on forza. Gt5 matt paint option alone kills it by miles.

And yes, forza fanboys will tell you theyll give up all of that for matt paint.

Funny how half the people on these forums will say " it's a real driving simulator" .. So in real life I can plaster stickers all over my car and I won't have a blacked out interior..also my car won't sounds like Steven Hawkins burping.

Truth is, 5 years it took PD to produce this game..really don't know where that time was spent at all considering NFS and Forza have released 2 or more in that space.

I have not read a single thing in this entire forum about cost. What if PD does not have the money to do all that? Hmm? Ever think of that? Especially to those of you who always say "PD is lazy." Just saying.

/End rant.

Surely after the DLC selling a million copies at £10 a pop they should be able to afford to do something

We wouldn't know what they could be doing because they never tell us. That, is just speculation.
