Every race online is full of cars with more power, less weight, new aero modifications etc which weren´t in the original model to the extent that it makes their performance irrecognaisable from what it should be. I have a fully tuned fiat panda with which I beat easily a Golf V and various Polo cup cars. That´s fun and I like it being in the game, but I don´t like it being THE GAME.

That way, it´s impossible to compare the real performaces of the cars.

Why isn´t there a "default cars mode" or something like that where we could race the cars the way they were made?

Edit: If you want all the cars into the recommended list so we get some kind of online arcade mode vote here:

I used to full upgrade all of my cars, ive got like 170 full upgraded/tuned cars. Ive only recently started keeping my cars in stock form. Too much cash to full upgrade em all....

Yeah...there's already a "default cars mode"...it's called repurcashing them from the dealership.

And I don't particularly care for tuning/modding. For me, there's nothing better than taking a bunch of stock cars straight from the dealership on to the Nordschleife for more nuanced performance comparisons and to better get a sense for the natural distinctions between each car. And sometimes, it helps the immersion factor in knowing that the car you're driving in the game can actually be driven in real life in (roughly) the same form.

Performance points restrictions will solve all your problems buddy

Performance points solve nothing, it only makes it worse because now you can get a GT300 car and reduce its power and increase its weight to use it against an opel corsa, or the likes.

I mean, it´s ok that they give us this options, but it won´t make it any easyer for us to race unmodified cars.

I hardly tune street cars at all. For me this is the best part of the GT series.
I don't care a lot about ultimate tweaked cars, stock is what I want.
Just to take your (not so) average daily driver for some laps on the ring or
TG test track is my personal best GT experience :)

I have around 400 cars and I think 30 or so are slightly tuned for race restriction purposes. I love to drive my cars stock and I'm thinking about buying each car twice, to have a stock version and one to mess around with.

i like them stock and tuned road cars. dont like race cars.

i like 2 drive stock 👍, although i do prefer race tyres:dopey:

Whenever I play online I run a room called "Just Fair Racing", which just uses the standard cars available on the Arcade Garage list, with standard tyres.

My only gripe is how few road cars are on that list.

I never upgrade any car. I want them all stock.

I very rarely drive tuned cars (only when I am fooling around) especially now there is no test course (400m etc), standard cars for me.

Just tested the new patch. No forum post has summed up my sentiments about GT5 more succinctly.

The tuning options on-line are amazing, and now with performance points and ballast, its' all very interesting, but it needs to be in -addition- to racing stock ordinary cars

Currently there is no way to have a race with friends and say "lets all race Ferrari 458s and see who wins"

What will happen is 3 out of 5 people will actually have a 458, only 1 of those people will have a stock version, one guy doesn't have the car, and the other one certainly doesn't as he hasn't touched single player.

As a casual multiplayer game it's a step back from Project Gotham 3 on-line in this sense.

It's easy to fix...

1) When you create a multi-player game on-line, there should be a tick-box "Allow Only stock cars"

2) When you pick a car, there should be a tab with a list of all stock cars in the game or at least all stock premium cars in the game, this is in addition to the "recommended tab"

Racing a bunch of different stock lambo's, ferrari's etc in in a lobby would be amazing, but right now this doesn't really happen. Also if you want a fair race where everyone has the same car and settings, it's always the same old F40, Zonda R, Calsonic GTR...ie the "recommended list" that get's boring fast

I don't ask for much Polyphony, this really is my only major gripe with the game right now.

I only have 2 or 3 tuned cars and some racing, the rest are all stock. Whenever i go online i always join a friend or create my own room, but its almost impossible to find people with stock cars in their online garages.

I can understand tuning silvias and the like but tuned aston martins and enzos? Pretty much a sign of people more worried about winning and online game than car entusiasts 👎

My friend and I always take similar powered stock cars out on the Ring. I honestly have to say it's become more fun than any tuned car races I've had. We never even touch racing tires, unless they came with the car. It made me appreciate the cars even more. I used to mod and tune almost every car when I got it, but I have since stopped, with the exception of a couple.

Every game I usually join online, almost everyone has racing softs on... That's really no fun to me.

Yeah I just had a bunch of races with 16 people in Rx7 Spirit R and sports tires all aids off.

... UNBELIEVABLY good fun. If only the host had the power to set any non tuned premium car in the game...

i agree with you i race with many stock european super/sports cars and they are fine the way they are all i do is buy sports soft tires and a oil change i think modifying the cars ruins the car (but only some) ugh i find it irritating

Well.. the problem is not you. It's the children playing online turning the whole online racing scene into a playground pissing contest. I try to stay away from online because it's just a waste of time with all the kids touting their modded-to-hell racecars and their mad drag racing skillz yo! :dunce:

I have turbo upgrades for every race car I use online because it is impossible to find an online race where people are using race cars stock. Just the state of the game.

I prefer stock cars as well, however I do sometimes change wheels, add a sport exhaust, and sport suspension just to give it a slightly better stance. Other then that, tuning is just not my thing.

Stock cars give us better feeling for the car.

Zactly. I'm not a big fan of online racing, plus I don't like the altered physics I always encounter.

I will have to say though that I love to "race mod" all my cars. Taking them to some relative similitude to some racing spec or other is a lot of fun. I also like to have "tuner" versions which are upgraded to one extent or other.

But rather than being a modding fiend, I still buy one more car of each to leave stock. I'll do the engine and chassis restore, buy a range of tires for it and leave it alone otherwise. There are a bunch of us who want to experience the car as it is. Of course this means that my garage with three (or more) of each ride is freaking full, but I have the room. ;)👍

mate, I do agree with you in part with default standart cars, but youre wrong. there is a race online its called Shuffle race and race where you can set one or more cars for all players in online lobby from recommended list.

but yea. using cars from our personal garage would be more fun and interesting.

Go visit GTP feedback - More features in online lobby!

vote for it, comment on it what u want! and hope PD will read it and accept!

A lot of my garage is fully-tuned. For example my army of giant-killing little "slow" cars such as the '49 Bug, Z Act etc run on slicks with full upgrades because they need everything they can get to slay the beasts. Same goes for my past 'project' cars - GTR-beating D-sector saloons, but with those I tuned more as I worked my way through the ranks.

One rule I have is that every car I buy must do at least one race totally stock - not even an oil change is allowed. Best way to figure out how to tune a car IMO.

A new approach I found (and recommend) is building "Rallye" specials. I took the 205 Rallye as inspiration; the mods they receive are limited to full weight reduction, improved drivetrain, semi-racing suspension and a mild engine upgrade. Keeps racing from being too boring anyway :)

I am. I never modify a single car.

usually just do the drivetrain mods ie clutch flywheel etc, and its enough unless im super lapping, gets frustrating when you go online and you're in a decent room when the host changes and ups the hp to racecar levels, i dont have high hp cars

I hate when I enter a "street car only" room and everyone is wearing racing softs........

I just own two of each car: one stock with just oil change, and one I'll put upgrades on.

And I know it's great driving a car in its stock form, but I really don't understand why upgrading or tuning a car is so bad.

This is annoying when you don't have mounds of cash sitting around. You have what you think is a fast car but then you run into tuned version of it with twice the horsepower and downforce and half the weight! You have to be able to top 200mph easily just to keep up in some of these lobbies! Untuned chromelines and stealths are useless!
