Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched but couldn't find it. Well, I found one, but it was more about preference rather than speed. I ask this only of people who have at least tried both.

So my question is

In terms of faster lap times would you rather use the DS2 or the DFP?

I've used the DFP for Prologue and by far there's no doubt in my mind I would rather use the DFP for GT4. But GT3 is another thing. I bought the wheel yesterday and started up GT3 and found the wheel wasn't as precise as it was with Prologue. I only put in a couple of hours so I'm still getting used to it, but my DS2 times are way better than my DFP times, (I even had to put ASM and TSC back on cuz I kept spinning out). Maybe I just need more time on the DFP.

Cheers

There is a degree of practice needed, but for GT3 I think it really comes down to the individual.

Don't forget that GT3 was made with the DS2 as it's primary controller, with the option of using a wheel. GT4 is the other way 'round.. the DFP is meant to be the ideal controller.

Well , I've heard about people saying that with DFP you can get faster lap times etc.
But , I can still get faster times whitout the DFP then some people with the DFP ;)

Well, buying the PS2 and GT3 only in summer this year than the DFP in september, I'm faster with the DFP, just because i haven't got that much DS2 training :(

When this qustion is asked, I always point people to this page. 4 different controllers in the top 4.

The quick drivers can use anything and still be quick.

I voted DS2. I need far more practice with the DFP in order to get my lap times anywhere near my DS2 equivalents.

Same. But that is on GT3 which I played for the first year of owning it with a DS2. However when I get GT4 I will use my DFP from the start.

I've got to agree with daan, good drivers can be quick on either. But if you're just an average driver like me, then you'll probably be quicker on what you use the most.

well after playing this weekend, I have come to the conclusion that I am better with the DFP. After setting the steering assist type to Simulation, it became a lot easier to score faster times. The only problem with the DFP is long sweepers, I find it harder to keep the line you want in those turns, but I've only used the DFP for one weekend and I'm already getting faster times, so I'm sure I'll figure that one out.
