So... I have always been one of those players that gets the most powerful cars available and then plays them and never uses any of my other cars, leaving them to cry their songs of sadness in the garage. Well, today, I decided to try one of the cars that I got in the Racing Cars DLC (I got the DLC for the Red Bull super racer, never used any of the other cars...) And I picked the GT-R R35 TC for a test run on the Grand Valley East course (because I use that for road tests of cars and fine tuning suspensions) and it would just NOT turn. Now... I have played GT5 since it came out, but have never actually used any cars that have the TC marking before then. Is there a reason this car has such horrid steering or is this not normal? I know it isn't me, because I use the normal GT-R often and I got the same steering results when I tried the Prius TC and Lancer EvoX TC as well. And it isn't understeer, I have tried slowing down more and going faster (causing an intimate moment with a section of guard rail...)

Am I missing something here? They are supposed to be race cars, but are they 'race cars' like NASCAR, or are they actual race cars? I had a feeling TC meant Touring Car, but now I am not so sure. Thoughts, comments, advice, all welcome.

TC does mean Touring Car and what you are experiencing here is a poor setup of the cars. The 2.10 update also changed the physics of quite a handful of cars so what I suspect is that the cars might have gone rubbish after the update. That isn't a problem though, it just means that you will have to play around with the settings until the cars stop understeering in corners.

And just for reference, are you using a wheel or a controller? This might make a difference, because if you are using a wheel, you might be turning the wheel too much, causing the front wheels to slide. And a final suggestion would be checking the tyres on the cars. If you are having problems then a quick fix would be having a higher grip tyre on the front and a lower grip tyre on the back, but if you are taking part in a race where tyre wear is turned on, this will eventually cause problems because the front wheels will wear quicker than the rear ones and you will have understeer worse than you are currently experiencing.

Understeer, most 4wd cars have it, go "slow in, fast out" of corners, or set up your car with more front downforce.

but honesty, if all you do is drive the fastest cars and the x1's all the time, i would say that your technique is the problem. (steering, ect) 👍

This is actually true. Sometimes you can fix problems by changing your driving technique. I also find that if you drive the fastest cars all the time, then go back to a car that has less grip or slower, it will feel weird and you will miss half of your braking points and you will go too fast into a corner or over-estimate the cornering abilities.

Nope... Not understeer. I know what understeer looks and feels like because I love my 2009 R8 and my Impreza. I have tweaked the cars as much as I can, the problem is that even at low speeds they just don't turn. Literally took turn 1 of Autumn Ring Mini at 20mph and it still ran into the dirt on the exit. Since there is no option to increase steering ratios... I am going to chalk this one up to crap design in the DLC cars. I was just wondering if I was the only one who was experiencing that.

This is understeer. You are probably turning too much.

I have the opposite feel, I feel the TC cars are too "easy" to drive, I don't use them anymore because of it! You can literally slam on the gas through nearly every corner and you won't get off your line.

It's aways the same with people complaining about car's that won't turn. They are going too fast arround the corners. I am by far no expert driver, but I can asure you, every car in the game in is driveable in stock condition (yes Veyron and Enzo too), if you use the right technique. Take some practice, driving the TC cars should be a piece of cake.

Well i don't have the problem and im using racing hard on it all i did was tune the toe angle to my liking :D

If you have the chance, take your GTR TC for a spin again and do turn one while looking back. Focus on the tyre angle of the front wheels. If they are turning all the way to the maximum (and you hear some screeching noises), then you are turning the steering wheel way too much and you need to decrease steering input. But if the wheels look like they are barely turning, then your controller might be broken and you might have to get a new one. But then again I doubt it would be your controller because apparently, when you're using any other car that isn't a TC it's fine.

Every other car works just fine except the TCs. The controller is brand new, just got it a couple days ago because the battery in my old one decided it wanted to short out and melt the casing. :P And I love how people are insisting that I am going too fast when I have stated I am not. The tyres are turning to a normal angle, not too far, and they don't look any different than my vanilla GT-R, which takes all the same corners at the same speeds and does just fine. I am not a bad driver, I am not a noob player, I just was wondering if it is just my game that is being retarded with the steering in the TC cars of the DLC. Apparently I am. I will just circle file them all and stick with vanilla cars that don't derp off the track. Probably just a glitch the DLC.

confused .... :confused::confused::confused:

BTW i find the GTR TC the best 4wd turning car on the game.

Oops. Mistyped that, meant understeer. Used to typing oversteer because I am writing a lot of car reviews and most of the cars my friends want me to review are XR type, so I oversteer a lot, so when I am talking about turning I just automatically type over because I am so used to mentioning how the car handles oversteer. XD Sorry.

Well, have you tried giving more power to the rear wheels? Like 30/70 should do it, at least it does this for me. If you need a good tune for you GT-R, I suggest going to GT5 Tuning Forum and find a thread "Praiano's tunes". I use the setup for my R35 from there, and it turns nicely.

Slow down; you're typing faster than your brain can process the information that is being displayed on your screen. We all know you can type at 200+ wpm but slow it down for fewer errors, okay :sly: ?

It's probably not a glitch, I personally think that your TC cars have a horrible set up on them. Try playing around with the car's settings and see if it will improve cornering speed.

I can type however fast I want! :P I am playing around with the EvoX and the GT-R right now, not much is helping. I even gave it extreme toe settings and it only just stayed on the track. Wonder if I download the DLC on my other hard drive it will be the same... I will try that and see. If it doesn't work, then I will say that the DLC was iffy and that is why they derped. If it is the same thing on the other system, then I will know it is the tuning. Til then, I am going to stick with my vanilla GT-R that goes around corners like a slot car.

Have you got a camera on you that you can use? I was thinking that you could use it to show us exactly what is going on. Because the way you're putting this is suggesting that the car's data for all the TC cars you have might be partly corrupted. Record a video if you have a camera on you, then try downloading it to another hard drive and see if the problem still exists.

I've just had a run with my stock R35 TC around Grand Valley and whilst there is understeer, it's no better or worse than any other GT-R.

Have you put it on sports tyres or left TCS or ASM on?

I don't think leaving TCS on will give understeer. It controls acceleration input when the back end steps out or the wheels start spinning.

ASM will give quite a bit of understeer though.

I personally think the GTR-35 TC handles remarkably, I have that car tuned for Drag, Circuit AND drift and can say it performs and handles well as an all rounder, beating nearly anything on the nurb!

So! Downloaded it on another hard drive, EVERYTHING WORKED FINE. And the Red Bull x2011 had WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY snappier steering on the other console, so I have been using a corrupted car for years and never realized it. o.o Guess I am going to start everything over from 0! Woooo! So, A-Spec level 8, B-Spec level 0. ^.^ Starting over can be fun. I am going to try not to use any of the DLC cars I got since they are horrendously overpowered for the beginning races. X3

I knew it was a corrupted drive. Well good luck starting all over again :ouch: .

Oh, you are British. That explains it. I am British, too... I was just born and have lived in the US for my whole life. I hate that fact. Shhh. Don't tell anyone. :P

Hehehe. I think I like you. You are cool.
Thanks mate :) .

I won't...

I know that you're relatively new to the forums, but you might want to avoid double posting; the mods don't like it because it clutters up the forums. Try editing your post if you want to add more information but no one else has posted anything yet.

I love that car, something is off if the OP can't drive it. He claims 20mph and running off the road. There are very, very few coners that any car in the available fleet can't take at that speed. Think Hairpin at Cote d'Azur for an example where quite a few cares will under-steer at 20mph. Nothing on Grand Valley is that tight, not even the hairpin.
