Anyone want to lay down their times around the ring in different cars? I'm on a PS3 with the six axis controller. No handling assists, no damage, best line.

Kool my kinda thread, love this track. Me and thiago are just working through each class for fastest laps, am just on c class at the mo, so when am done will get the vids up:tup:

7:08.329 B1270 Mustang RTR-X

Not the quickest one out there :)
I'll see what I can do with the GT1 C6.R

I have a bit of a conundrum. Should I try to improve my fast laps or put up more laps in more cars? Both take a lot of time. I lowered my Veyron time but I don't think I'll update the post until I get the real number.

The waffling is driving me crazy. I think I'll run a few laps in the works MP4-12C and fully upgraded Radical SR3-RS this weekend. I also have the terrible LFA.

Well i think there will be a few doing battle over fastest A, B, C and D here. So here's mine to kick us off, after that GT1 and GT3 would be good

So I guess the gauntlet has been thrown and I have to dig deeper on the fast cars. Fine. I have very little confidence I'll get anywhere near 5:43 but I'll try.

Best thing to do mate is start from D class and work up to A. Am sure with better upgrades my D class time can be beat.

I'm more interested in benchmarking a number of cars. Not necessarily making the lowest possible number. Low numbers are important but there's a point where I feel I've gotten low enough.

Very nice thread. Indeed a pity the one at Nogripracing no longer possesses interest to its participants.

I'll just post a short video of my current best in D class, with Mazda RX-8.
Lap time is 7:38.475

Because this is an almost PS3 exclusive forum and I am a PC user I want to make a a couple of observations which I will elaborate afterwards.

1. Car handling and physics are significantly different between platforms
2. Translating lap times from one platform to the other may not be very accurate (or equivalent in absolute terms)

I've recently borrowed a PS3 console from a close friend in order to try out GT5, by which I've been quite impressed and thoroughly delighted (but that's a different matter)
He's also a Shift2 aficionado and had the game installed on the console, which enabled me to try it out as well.
I used the same wheel (Logitech DFP) and shortly the PS3 gamepad.
On my PC copy I have the Nogripracing UCP installed.

It took me a few minutes to get over the fact I'm playing the same game.
The cars feel and handle very differently.
First thing that struck me was the amount of grip available on PS3.
I only used Elite handling mode with PS3 and compared it to Elite, Intermediate and Novice on the PC.
The impression it gave me was that the grip level and tire stiffness on PS3 - Elite mode are a actually a bit raised compared to PC - Novice mode.

For some of the cars this translated in surreal handling and the ability to get to very interesting speeds (and lap times) without pushing the car all that much.
While on others it actually hindered and the cars felt overly lazy and unresponsive.

With the gamepad differences were even weirder.
I've never been able to successfully a gamepad on my PC version. All cars behaved overly twitchy and almost impossible to control.
On the PS3 I had no such issues. Cars were predictable and handling rather intuitive from the get go.
I'm sure a part of it is due to calibration, which is more difficult to get right on the PC, while being natural and by default on the console.
Even so, differences are striking and I need to give a huge credit the gamepad Shift2 players on the PC version.

On a more general note the physics of the PS3 Shift2 has given me the sensation the cars are sort of programmed to follow an almost predetermined line through the corners, which feels extremely odd coming from PC titles (Shift, pCARS, Simbin and ISI stuff).
The throttle control and steering corrections I needed to make on it were almost minimal to what I'm used to and, as I said, just feels odd.

I may be completely wrong, so take my observations with a grain of salt ...
I am however interested if others had the chance to test both versions (PS3 and PC) and what they feel about them.

also i was on a pad as well, let me know what you guys think 👍

no mate i have not tryed anymore races, i hate the track you know that, lol, i just wanted to see how close i was to yor 1st time so gave it 1 lap to see and did the 7:35,

nice new time mate 👍

Nice lap hondy, It´s faster than I ever did there on this class. Damn steve, you just improved more than 10seconds...I hope get my cam tomorrow, it´s coming by post, so if it´s not I´ll just can upload my D class lap next week, I´m working in 3 cars, retro, modern and legends, should post this 3

Good job Hondy and Steve.

I gave the RX-7 FC3S a go a bit earlier.
The core upgrades are street turbo and engine swap. Without them the car is useless.
After 5 serious laps in the car I'm down to 7:32.8.

I think I can match Steve's time with a bit more tinkering around the setup.
I don't like the stock tires at all, they're pretty much rubbish.
You get no warning when you get over the slip angle and the car just snaps and kerbs are a nightmare.

The car is however crazy fast - 290 km/h at the end of the long straight (this is with 0 downforce and final drive pushed all the way to the right).

I'll post a video a bit later, when I get closer (or lower) to Steve's time.

Nice1 mate, This time is coming down nice:tup: My vid Updated 7.19.549

yeh man!!now we are close to the limit of the class. About the same time as usual, 7:19 lap uploaded. will back soon with C class laps, but got no answer for that 6:46 yet...

come on man, in this classes upgrades are like 80% of the job...Not fair if we give you. Try your best, it´s just fun, nothing to prove here.
It doesn't hurt to ask for an apples to apples comparison. I've been through a million iterations of C cars and ended up with a couple that are way more handling oriented than power. I like them that way for a few reasons, not least of which is that it gives slow people a chance.

hun...It is apple to apple, I am a Man, on Ps3, same game, same upgrades and tunes available. The rest up to you :)
💡 I can give you some tips..D class turbo 1 and no engine swap...(this is what change the car) C class, Use rotary port 2, 5 gears...Swap engine, Turbo 2...Tyres Brakes and suspension always full (RX7 FC).

This car works well on high RPM, so I push final gear ratio to 8, D and C. It should help u

Banging laps thiago, we are defo at the business end of D class, this has to be world record this on PS3 and Xbox. Its a shame more people ant up for the challenge!! @jiannone thiagos right, Turbo 1, NO swap is the base of this car. There are a few different ways to go after that which will all get around 720, process of elimination to find the best. @bogdantw2, seen some of your vids, your a quick clean racer sir. Shame your not on PS3 mate.
