It will be sad when everybody that survived is dead of old age. As a country we need to remember that invasion.
Imagine Ike on the day the troops left, making his rounds talking to the troops. Imagine his knowing that many thousands of them are as good as dead, and carying that burden. Imagine being one of the troops, and that burden. One of the bravest and bloodiest days in the history of the world, and one of the greatest long-shot vicories, ever. It won the war. I look at my grandfather's generation, and what they went through for four years, and feel proud to be decended from them, the men who saved the world. This is America's burden.
Of course I didn't forget the British. They were there in equal proportion and deserve as much honor.
