Yeah, rotaries. Ill care when I have to make my own money and pay for my own gas.
But til then, RX7!
But when then occurs, Civic Si!
The idiosyncratic ricer.;)

$150,000 - Asking price for the Veilside Fortune RX-7, which was crowned Best of Show at the 2005 Tokyo Auto Salon.

$50,000 - How much Universal actually ended up paying

$20,000 - Cost of the custom red leather interior inside of the Veilside RX-7

6 - Cans of black Krylon spray paint used to paint over this interior

WTF :nervous:

What is a ricer these days?

Why they paint interior?
How is so cheap?
Why is so slow?
Seriously, SPRAY PAINT?! I mean, WTF!? Thats like what I painted my Fusion (I had the name first!!) pushcart with! Custom sky blue/dark blue crackle/drizzle.
Bronze rims.

After looking at the list again. I just noticed there where a number of Evo's converted to FR. Meaning they couldn't drift them as AWD. So, when your watching that Evo take a corner in the movie, just remember it's NOT AWD. :)

You people would love this.. Just remembered that I had a magazine somewhere with some spyphotos how they drift Hollywood style.. Taken a picture of the page after some searching under 200other carmagazines :D

They ought to lay off the fake underhood bling, the bling inside, the bling outside, the bling on the rims and those ridiculous body kits to make em go faster.
And that's the first time i've seen a Turbo detune the hp of a car.

I think stories like these are absolutely hilarious. I can remember reading the articles written about the cars from 2Fast2Furious in which the "Yenko" Camaro nearly outperformed the competition with knock-off Chevrolet racing parts.

Back to Tokyo Drift: It is sad to think that the kids are going to belive that these crappy-ass cars are going to be able to do what they are doing in the movie. We are literally going to have a flood of kids who are going to think that the Evo IX and R32 are going to be great drift cars... F'ing idiots...

Yay, Ill be able to beat people in street races! Lets hope movies like this last until I get a license! Before you know it, Ill be drift racing 20-hp Daihatsu Midgets with one tonne widebody kits, NoS stickers, puke green paint, and turbos that make them even slower, from 60 hp to 20 hp!

Lucky I know about cars, and I have you guys ;)

Steve McQueen is turning in his grave....

Sad thing is I want a kit for the SC if I ever get it driving again..

...Not only that, this movie is going to add to the level of dumb-ass kids who think they know more than the rest of us because they SAW these cars do these amazing things in this movie...

"It was in the Fast and the Furious, it MUST be true!!!"

Read my last post.
Its a movie. A @#$@ing movie. Dumb@$$es.

Carl.
And how on earth can you tune an EVO to run 0-60 in 6.6s??

By converting it to rear wheel drive... oops... instant loss of traction.

Seem like average numbers for a bunch of roughed up, run-in and generally abused movie cars.

RE: RB26DETT Mustang... Guess now we know it doesn't quite work that way...

I'll make sure I stay home during the time this movie is around. I bet pretty soon I will be seeing every 240sx on the street with body damage with the driver still trying to drift at every corner.

I understand that this is just a movie, but media images or films like this movie will brainwash the weak-minded.

rwd R32 Golf? how in the hell did they do that? did they remove the haldex-differential and replace it with torsen, and disengage the front driveshafts? I wonder why they don't produce limited edition of FR R32.. it could sell better than the heavy AWD one..

Are we talking about race cars?, or movie cars built-up for "The Fast and the Furious". I think some of us are taking this, WAY too seriously(and personally).

Famine
You'd de-tune one to 250hp? Are you mad?

Well 700 HP is a bit much for daily driving. :sly:

a6m5- The discussion is about the cars in the movie.

luftrofl

As in the "imginary" cars "inside" the movie? I don't think so. Thread is about the cars "used" in the movie, their numbers, along with the other numbers from the movie, including how many Asian extras were used. Also, the posts I was referring to were talking about the real life numbers of the cars used in the movie. If you were talking about the "imaginary" cars in the movie, then I was not talking about your posts. ;)

These are mostly movie hacks, so they're not tuned for the most power... just not to blow up before the end of filming.

192 wheel hp for a slightly charged RX8 (lower end version) sounds just right.

There are very few movie cars tuned for outright performance... one exception would be the Torino used in the Starsky and Hutch redux, which had one hell of a motor under the hood. They needed it to do the burnouts.
