I was shocked to finish the career in GT6 after just a few weeks. In my memory it took me much longer in GT5. Now I am looking for things to do in GT6.

Because the necessary credits become available now I can buy a lot of interesting cars and play some of the career races again. And it was interesting for me to discover that it is much more fun to NOT have to win every race (because I already have all the stars and dont need the credits anymore).

What I am doing is selecting a car that is not able to win (at least with me as a driver). So instead of passing all other cars in a superior car to catch up with the leading car (which is much more powerful than the rest of the cars for some strange reason) I am fighting with the rest of the AI competitors. And that is a lot more fun. It is far more rewarding to fight for every rank than catching up with number one.

I am afraid that as long as PD is not able to make a fair competition (or at least gives us the possibiity to create our own races) I have to race like that in career mode and be happy to reach a result in the middle of the field.

What do you think about that?

Yea i like losing races to :dopey: Wait what were we talking about again :p

Been doing this since GT 3 when I started the Gt series. Once you have the cars, money and game progression all thats left is online play or a competitive race with a couple of other cars in one of the in game series. Or arcade.

Same situation here, running the 24-Minutes of Le Mans and just won with the KTM X-BOW. Reducing the PP/BHP now to see how it fairs.
Only won by 10 seconds including 3 punts off the track by the AI under braking.

It's not only more challenging, to use lower PP cars you get to feel the handling more as intended by the manufacture. I like like step by step tuning, as in this needs just a bit softer suspension and it'll be just perfect, than to fully max out PP and dominate ever-single-race, After having done that still having a car that's not set-up right.

Hey OP. I just created a thread and I think you might like it for your purposes of making the game longer and more entertaining. Check it out.

I can't say I agree, but I do always race with a significantly lower PP rating than the maximum. That does make it more challenging and rewarding.

I will say that GT is always better when you make it harder. Turning off tcs, no driving line, leaving the cars relatively stock.

I enjoy entering cars that are very difficult to win with or even impossible at first. I like to do this when I am building cars and tuning them. Run a race, loose, tweak, repeat, hopefully win in the end without going above a preset PP and without resorting to using the power limiter or NOS.

I've been working with a 500pp 86 BTR in the willow springs 20 mile race off and on for a few days, still have not won it in this car but have been so close a few times, am not sure if I can win with it at this PP or not or at least not sure when the FXX is on the track but I keep trying and tweaking and getting faster. I have shaved 5 seconds off my best lap time in it through tuning and practice so far but have yet to finish the race without being spun out or going off track at least once, best finish has been 3rd but for some reason it is a lot of fun and I am determined to win in this car without adding any thing to it and without adding any assists.

I have been doing this before I win all events, probably why I haven't finished career mode yet. Yesterday doing the IB Classic Supercar Event at Roma it took me 8 attempts for gold. I just could not beat the lead GT40 Mk1 in my Dino. I could have maxed the engine output, and changed the suspension, or even changed cars, but where is the fun in that?

I know what your trying to say and the best races I've ever had have been ones I've not won, but those races havnt been in any GT game because the AI isn't fun to race against :P

The F1 series by Codemasters is actually really great and winning =/= progression so fighting for even 10th place and getting there is a lot of fun because they will fight you without crashing into you or break checking

I too am looking for new things to do after finishing the game. I have a couple of ideas:

- A "Harden up princess" gamesave. No aids whatsoever. Trying to spend as little as possible (but no the main objective)
- A "How much does it take to win xxx" challenge. Pick a 24 minute race, pick a prize car and make it win with the least modifications.

NOT winning is more fun

I agree - the challenge is fun. No one writes home about winning a footrace by riding a bike...

You have to fight for it, for it to mean something. Sure, you won a race in the X2011 - but what did you really achieve?

I've had the game since release day and I'm still doing the IB races, admittedly I've done all the seasonals and a fair bit of online racing with friends, but I always start the races with around 100 pp and at least one tyre grade less (and all aids off apart from having TC1) and I'm enjoying the game soooo much .... I love having to be a bit aggressive with the AI to win :D

What I tried to point out is, that in some (not all!) races the first AI car wins with significant distance to the rest of the pack. So if you want to be able to catch that superior AI car you HAVE to choose a car that is better than most of your competitors. Which is simply stupid. You would expect a field of more or less equal opponents.

So I am hopping that we will get a good course maker from PD. They simply have to give us a possibility to enter AI cars in the online course maker. Exactly like Turn 10 is doing it with Forza (but please dont charge us a monthly fee for this like Forza is doing with the XBox live gold accunts).

Definitely agree. I also choose cars that are on average 50pp lower than the opponents. The exception was the Super License I unlocked only on Friday. 24mins Le Mans in a stock Sauber C9 is hard!!

AI is mixed bag (and I have yet to play racing game with "perfect" AI) but then luckily GT is what you made of it. Recently I'm re-doing lots of races and If I want "easy" win and farm some money to buy cars (I didn't glitch $) , then I use most suitable car for that event and I usually win. If I want fun , lots of fun , I use some less competitive car , maybe put comfort tires on and have a good time even when I don't win > recent stats r/w - 693/375 tell I should be ashamed :D:D:D

There are things anyone can do to improve experience , not just whining over this and that . That won't help much :D

We know its about the quick lead car. Yes, course maker has great potential.

Not true, The AI is really just not very fast overall. They all slow to much in the corners and are easy to beat. If I use a car that is "better than most of the field" then the race will be boring as I will run off and leave everything out there in most races.

There are a few exceptions but in general using a car that is equal or slightly inferior to the AI car that will be in last place is good enough for the win. In many cases even that will lead to a reasonably easy win.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you use a weak car and try to drive clean and win it will improve your driving skill where as taking a car that is better than most of them will result in an easy win in almost every case and not improve your skill much if any at all.

I've been doing a lot of races with slower cars, mostly because it's boring as hell to spend the last three laps of a race driving around by yourself. It's fun, and seems a whole lot more like racing if it takes you a good while to catch up with the guy ahead of you. It's just downright silly though - I do a lot of the 10 - 15 minute races and over that span of time you can beat the AI with some truly pitiful cars. Even when using a car that's identical to one of the AI cars, I'll drive up next to him on a straight (not drafting him), and stay beside him - I'm at two-thirds throttle. I floor it and leave him behind. What the heck is going on? Oh it must be that oil change I did on my car

I'm with you. Been liking the RUF BTR at the 10 lap race at Ascari. Usually get 3rd or 4th if I can manage the tires.

Really don't care what I place, I get to have some fun laps and earn a few bucks for my time too.

Thats my favorite race in the whole game. And its awesome watching the ai struggling for grip when their tires are gone. And it really gives a good ammount of credits too!
