Noticed no auto blip in top times but how can I remove it?

Hi all! I've noticed that a lot of the top guys' times don't seem to have any auto blip on downshifts. I know that blipping is important to match the engine speed with the gearbox for increased stability but I'm aware also that it can help offer the advantage of some engine braking. I'm not doing too badly on the rankings but I do feel that braking for T1 is where I could be losing a lot of time as they seem to be able to brake later than I can. I've tried braking at the same point and different approaches to the corner (winding it in to the apex/braking in a straight line for as long as I can) but I always seem to overshoot the corner. I use the G25 so I tried the triangle trick to enable clutch but it doesn't seem to work in the GT5 Time Trial demo, only in Prologue so can anyone help me out with this? Thanks :)

The replays are slightly flawed. There is a slight delay in them and breaking appears to happen after it actually does. If you watch your own replays you will see this. As for the blip, I think it has something to do with the game running at 60fps and the replays at 30fps, so you don't really notice it as much.

P.S. I see you are in the top 20 in Ireland like myself. Best of luck!

were you using the controller for the first few weeks? i was always either 1 or 2 places behind or infront of your time and then all of a sudden your 8th .

yeah I saw a controller icon in the top ten the other day and now its gone.. can't remember the name though.

lol, irish thread

I'm in the top 20 and my car is definitely auto blipping. Anyway, its not something you would want to remove as it is a benefit not a hindrance.

The Nissan 370z auto blips in real life by the way. Its their party trick.

yeah, I was using the controller for a while there. The frustrating thing about it is that throttle steering is a big no no with a controller since the trigger is very sensitive (triggers (brake/throttle), gear down/up (Square/Circle). Its not too bad to be honest, I just have a lot of experience using a pad since I didn't have a wheel for a while. My wheel times aren't that much better than my (potential) controller times to be honest which I found frustrating as I expected to destroy my controller times.

By the way, which wheel do you lads select? I have the G25 so I went with for the DFP preset. I feel though that there is slight controller lag since when I steer, the wheel ingame (cockpit view) doesn't seem to respond instantly, is this normal?

But about the auto blipping bit, I see the replay in the cockpit view and it looks to me 60fps.

@Dessy182: In your lap, I noticed that particularly when you shift down to 3rd in T1, the car nudges in and I've concentrated hard but I never saw any blipping. Cheers! Best of luck to yourself too. Fair play to you for your time. I was jaw dropped when I saw how you enter the corners :)

BTW, if you shift down very late then the car won't blip.

Yeah, sorry, you're right Dessy. I had a look at my replays and noticed that the blip doesn't show up. Its a bit strange why it shouldn't though.
