Hello. I'm new to GTPlanet, but not to Gran Turismo. I've been playing for years, but I never thought about racing in an organized fashion until recently.

My skill level is acceptable, but I usually finish in the middle of the pack during online races...occasionally last, sometimes first, but usually I blend into the middle of the field on most races.

Most of what I've searched for regarding organized races seem to be for people with higher skill and/or group membership; I've found a couple for novice races, but they have been inactive for months, even up to a year.

Basically, my question is this: Is there a place to go or a group to join that caters to the novice racer? I'm NOT a noob...I know proper etiquette on and off the track, so don't worry about that.

Please help, and thank you. :)

Check into Snail or Turtle Racing in the Clubs and League section. DeadNutsEven as well. Here's the Turtle link : https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=256586

There should be something for you there. You can't go wrong with any of these groups. All skill levels and clean racing with good guys. I've raced in the Turtle Group and can vouch for them. They have 2 events per week and practice sprints nearly every night. Tuning prohibited, just break in a car and race.

If you are interested in novice racing you should try the Fiat f and 2CV Championship. We may not be racing the fastest cars but racing will be close and fun, ranging from sprints to endurance. Most of the racers who will be joining to race are average or good racers from all over the world, so this series is great for novice's. If you are interested come say hello, we are a friendly and will always help, oh and we race every Sunday 7 pm GMT.

As someone who was on the same boat as you last month, OpticZero, the best thing for you to do would to browse the Online Events subforums and look for one or two series that have the best schedule for you and use the cars you feel most comfortable driving.

There are less than a handful of series that advertise themselves as for novices/rookies and many online racers here have been racing in series for 1-2 years and are very used to the different cars and tracks. You shouldn't expect to win off straight away. However, if you are willing to take the time to practice cars/tracks in advanced of scheduled races and to fine tune settings (for series that allow it), the work will pay off in the end.

The organized competition here are miles ahead of the game's AI opponents where you can usually beat them with any car with sufficient PP and racing soft tyres. The human competition is great fun, though. BTW the racing club I'm in (see my signature) is novice friendly if you're interested.

Thanks guys. I'll look into all of the suggested suggestions...as soon as I get my schedule at home straightened out. Haha.

Definitely check out S.N.A.I.L. We have 5 divisions I am sure you will fit onto one of them.
