First poll I ever posted :p Hope that Boombexus doesn't mind me putting it up here.

This little poll is meant for all NRS-participants. I'm curious to see how many of us use DS2 (controller) or a wheel and how many of us use AT of MT...

As for myself. I'm a good old DS2-user and since I never got the hang of shifting manually, I also still use AT.

How about the rest of us NRS-ers?

Im using DS2 with manual gearbox, analogue steering and throttle/brake 👍

wheel MT all the way. Unfortunatly, at my place right now, i can't always use the Wheel 'cause it requires me to 'set it up' all the time... so right now i play mostly with the DS... ahhh

I don't have the DFP. It's just the standard Driving Force. Always MT.

The stand is from http://www.xlstands.com/
I bought it new through eBay. It's awesome. $90

Here's me enjoying some GT action...

That looks great Sofyu, does that one fold up for storage?Just the thing i need as i want to convert to a wheel and dont have the space for a proper set-up...Had a quick look on the website they certainly look interesting. I wonder if i can get one in the Uk for an equivalent price....or at all!?

Dave

It has a little leg on the front so that when you lift the wheel off the sofa, it can stand vertically. The top section, that the wheel is clamped to, can be disconnected to make it shorter in terms of storage height. It's a really great design.

I'm using the DS2 with Manual Transmission - I probably will only use my DFP when we get onto the racing cars as I can't seem to grasp the DFP with the smaller HP cars.

Well, thnx everybody for for participating in this. Two things supprise me in the results so far.

The first thing is that more than half of us use the controller. I would've thought that most used the wheel, but there isn't much between the two groups.

The big supprise is to see that I am the ONLY one who still uses the AT... Man, I should really learn how to shift manually, shouldn't I :p
Thing is, I did when I used to play racing games on the pc. Manual on the keyboard was no prob at all. But with the controller, I just get confused. I really have trouble using the back buttons to shift, when other fingers of the same hand are doing something else at the same time (bracking/turning)... :indiff:

I highly suggest learning.

Will only take a few hours.

It is proven that engine braking works in GT4. Manual cars slow down faster than auto. I find the car just runs away from me when i use auto, and i crash. In manual a back off with suffice, where as with auto you have to tap the brakes.

I'm willing to bet when you switch to manual you WILL be faster. You can control when to shift, thus maximising the power band and you can pick the gear for certain corners. Plus you will be have a better feel for the car.

Try manual! 👍, it wont take long at all to learn 👍

its especially easy since its a sequential clutchless manual.
all you have to do is push a button... no heel-toe or rev-matching required.
all the "difficulty" of driving a manual is prettymuch absent.

Couldnt agree more with whats been said Bart already, try a few laps of a simple circuit like the beginners course and you wont go back to auto mate.....

regards

Dave
