Convinced I tried with a Mazda Autozam AZ-1 '92, but not enough power in the straights to go that fast, was fun to drive though.

I recommend changing the requirements to give more of a challenge to be more like the nurb under 7 minutes thread someone else made a while ago.

Sport Hard Tires
Car must be stock with only engine % change allowed

I think I'll leave the rules as is. But if you want to prove how much better you are feel free to take a car bone stock with sport hard tires and show us all up.

So, OP, are 100 hp and no SRF the only rules?

Well, I guess I should also add no glitching.

OK I added the list, short as it is for now

I did it in a Lotus Elise'96.

7.59.932

After 2 hours and countless restarts and attempts. No problems getting under 8.10, but those last 10sec's are tough.

when documenting it, i saw that the hp has gone up to 102hp..(brand new car)

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFck

Still, i now know its doable.

transmission: 220kph
racing softs
15mm lower susp
stiffer damper (+3 front and rear)
(this tune is simple and good)

Pretty much "perfect" in my eyes, but some GT5-god could prob shave off 2-3 seconds.

This sucks I know, but before I add it to the list ya gotta do the whole run at 100.

thats OK. I think i know where i can shave off another 0,3 sec's. and a few other places i might drive better. this will overcompensate my car having 2hp too much.

But nonetheless, i adjusted the hp to 100. When i left the track it stated 102 hp. Did the hp increase during racing or after i exited the track?

Because then i have to back out to lobby after every lap just to make sure it doesnt jump up a hp or two.

Brand new cars will gain littlebit hp after a few miles.

Anyways, i think i might manage 7.58ish with a perfect lap.

PS. My idea of substituting weight for added torque was a utter failure. I tried VX220's, BMW 2002 turbos, NSX-R's, even older cars with low weight. Only thing to come close was the Tommy Kaira.

Then i tried the caterhams etc and 8min is very doable. I might manage 7.50-55ish with them.

But Elise 96 kind of stands out regarding maintaing cornering speed. Some RM'ed Elises should easily get under the 8min mark

Just my 2 cents.

Japanese Market, under 3.5m long and 1.5m wide, or something thereabouts. No engines bigger than 0.6 liters or so.

Basically anything that qualifies for the Kei Car championship in A-Spec / B-Spec... though you could consider the Fiat 500F as meeting Kei requirements.

Midget can't do it. Got 8:48. Didn't get a perfect drive, but I doubt I could find an extra 48 seconds, even if I softened the suspension enough to jump curbs.

That FF SRT4 challenge is hard... After a dozen attempts, 6:58... props to the guy who got it down to 6:35... unless he has a wheel (I don't)... in which case... I hate you.

At this point, it seems that if the car is super-light, and has well over 100 hp to begin with, it's entirely possible... but for cars that are "naturally" around 100 hp, it's close to impossible.

Wonder if I can get 100 hp out of a Subie 360? :D

Had another run with the GSXR/4 on Race Hard tires. 7'57.836

EDIT: I just discovered I was carrying 65kg of ballast for both this run and the previous run. I had forgotten I had ballasted the car. :dunce:

EDIT 2: I tried with the Elise Sport and got a best of 8'05 flat. I got it down from 8'10, and I know I can pick up a second or 2 more but I don't see where I can get 5. :(

What is a 'kei' car?
Sub 0.7 liter little Japanese cars that are exempt from some certain tax. Were featured in the "K-car" seasonal and A-spec events.

EDIT: Whoops, looks like you got a much much more comprehensive answer a couple posts ago. Pardon me.

This challenge has ruined me. I took a "normal" car on sport tires to the ring and I couldn't keep it on the track. Amazing how driving 600kg cars on race soft tires can reprogram you. It took my 2 full laps to recalibrate. :dunce:
