Nurburgring Challenge Version 2 *POST YOUR TIMES*(N2, S2 and R3 Tires)

To post a viable time here do you have to show a replay and setting quike tune confirmation screens etc.

You don't have to. But if someone asks for proof of your time you need to provide proof within a reasonable time (usually a week) in the form of either an uploaded video or a .max file (MaxDrive).

Thanks for clearing that up Diego well for more info on my time attack I used;

Driver=Renisis Power
Car=2002 Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A
-10% weight +0% power
SM,S2 tires
with the G25 on Manual Tranny
Time= Mid 7:37

Thats crazy its faster than the real life 2008 Nissan GTR by a little bit.

heres my time.

Driver=Slicer
Car= Ford GT LM Race Car Spec 2
tuning or drivers aids= Nothing! No TC or AMS or any tuning!!!
Tires=R3
Controller= some steering wheel set i dont know the name of with Manual
Time=6:30.009

If u guys need proof, i cant produce it since i am a minor and i cant just go out and buy all the equipment necessary to produce evidence. Im gonna have to wait until June when my birthday is because i have maxed out my xmas wish list already.

Oh, be sure to check out the first post in this thread, there's the instructions on how to post your times.

I have all of the new times and I will work on making a leaderboard in the next few days.

Edit:
I now have the leaderboard up, check the first post:tup:.

6:45:305 - eatighe - Mercedes Benz 190E Evolution AMG Touring Car '92 - R3

6:32:241 - eatighe - Honda NSX Takata Dome '03 - R3

6:31:407 - eatighe - BMW M3 GTR Race Car '01 - R3

must confess i wimped out with all driver's aids; happy to post video if
anyone's interested.

7:52.296 - BL - Caterham Seven Fire Blade '02 - SM

Both aids on.
Weight at 100%
Power at 100%
(totally stock)

Includes a small error at 7:33 where I lost time at Schwalbenschwanz. I briefly put two wheels on the grass on the inside of the turn. It was NOT faster than the proper line.

I will rerun the lap to correct this, and there are other opportunities to shave time. (no other grass contact)

I have video of the run and of the replay. I will post this, (or an improvement if it happens), on YouTube with the link provided in this forum.

I have uploaded the driver view and replay view videos for the 7:52.96 run.

The driver view has brief views for a ghost which is a from earlier, with mistakes to DSQ the run. It is this slower run that the blue times are referencing and it is about 2s slower than this run.

The run goes to the 'car setup' screen at the end to show the default configuration.

The driving event at 7:33 described earlier is in the Karussell, (incorrectly described earlier).

Driving note: The S2 tires talk a lot and it is VERY important to steer smoothly and minimally to keep them quiet. Everything is about higher exit speed!

Now on to faster laps.

I just discovered that you can view both YouTube videos at once.
Play one and hit pause exactly at the start/finish line.
Start the other.
Take the 1st off pause at the moment that the 2nd hits the line.
For me, both played and were synchronized within 1/4 second.

I watched the videos and you did a great job on that lap:tup:.
And I have updated the leaderboard with you time:).

I did do it in arcade mode, you can use your personal garage. That is the car i used and those are the mods i had on it. Sorry i didnt remember to put that lol

Weight 100%, Power 100%, Aids all off, Sports medium tires.

The lap is clean except for one 4-wheels off event at 5:53. Of course it would be better looking if this did not happen, but it does not reduce the time. In fact grass is slow.

The lap has a ghost with 8'22.348, and the ghost finished just ahead. The ghost lap does not get posted because that lap has grass events of a type that disqualify the time.

The event at 5'53 may generate some negative feedback. Someone may post a time with video that is close in time but slower, and they may say that their lap is better because it it totally clean. If that happens, I will withdraw this time and redo the lap. Until then, this is a strong combination of clean and fast. Please show me your video.

Time can be saved at lap index 2'57 because braking was late and exit speed was reduced.
Time can be saved at 3'39 because turn in was early and not smooth and exit speed was reduced.
Time can be saved at 5'53 by staying on the track, because acceleration is greatly reduced when you are on the grass.
Time can be saved at 6'21 because turn in was early and it would have touched the grass if the right side tires had not bounced in the air - not fast!
Time can be saved at 8'09 because I braked too early - bad!
Time can be saved at 8'17 because I got on the throttle late - bad!

The ghost is always right there and for most of the opportunities listed above, the ghost gets ahead because of these errors. I did not save the replay in a way to show the ghost car and the live car. That is fun to watch because for much of the lap one car is inside the other, like at 7'28 in the drive view video. I will get this next time.

You can synchronize the two videos for simultaneous view as described in message #496 in this thread.

8'21.xxx is possible and you MUST keep the tires quiet!

Moderator,

Please use this post information in lieu of the time provided in message 501.

This line includes power and weight information on the same line, as this run will be repeated with reduced weight to more correctly match the NRC2 event parameters.

8'22.845 - BL - Lotus Elise Type 72 '01 - SM f+r/Power=100%/Weight=100%/Aids=off

Thank you.

Thanks! here's my updated time

Nice lap. Very smooth and totally clean!

Your YouTube video was captured showing the 'Tach/Speedo' view. It provides the brake and throttle as red and white lines within it, but it does not show the steering input.

For the driver inputs, (brake/throttle/steering), I feel steering is the most important because it is the one that is most dynamic. It becomes a 'nice to have' feature for the videos.

Thanks for sharing the video.

goody gumdrops, its been a while since i had another go at this, ill give it a blast see what i can come up with.

Nice to see this didnt crash and burn ;)

Wow James, this thread keeps on giving. I would've thought with the advent of GT5 these challenges would slowly die down... but it appears only mine has :lol:

Good work!

Ok the leaderboard has been updated:tup:.

Yeah I guess thats true, to bad I don't come to GTP more.

8'15.672 - BL - Lotus Elise Type 72 '01 - S2/S2

I previously posted 8'22.845 with this car, but that was at 100% weight and 100% power. That is why this is not an update.

This post uses the correct 100% power and -10% weight, (and it shaves over 7 seconds from my earlier time). Both times use S2 tires and no aids.

The YouTube video will follow when I trim the ends and get it uploaded.

The video will show with a ghost, (a ghost with errors). That ghost goes 4-wheels off twice, and more, but finishes ahead.

The last screen for the replay video shows 8'15.465, and that is for the GHOST. I am posting an 8'15.672 here.

Replay view with Ghost

I briefly mentioned earlier that it is VERY important to keep the S2 tires as quiet as possible.

The application of that is shown here and it is indicated by what you DON'T see. You don't see the wheel moving.

The steering wheel is a brake and the more you use it the more slow you go. Watch the wheel here an see it NOT move!
