So... why not?

Lets go PD?

Yes, I do not why the GP track has no dynamic weather. In real life too weather there can change rather quickly. In the game they have got some nice clouds which look realistic but weather system should be integrated

Why don't all tracks have dynamic weather/time? Seems to me the weather/time is part of a track rather than an actual atmosphere/physics engine. Maybe the PS3 can't generate weather and lighting effects?

I was just wondering this last night, considering most of GP/F is on the 24hr circuit with weather, it's a head scratcher...

Because it would be a wast of space and time.

I was wondering exactly the same. Making all variations of Nürburgring with day/night/weather should be easy, since all of them are already in the 24h layout. Also, Nürburgring 24h is the largest and most richly detailed track in the game. So we know there is no technical limit on bringing day/night/weather to all tracks, since none of them are as large and as detailed as Nürburgring 24h. Guess it's just a matter of time and/or priorities.

I don't believe for a second that dynamic day/night and weather couldn't be done on all tracks.

I understand Kaz would rather reflect real-life, hence not including dynamic lighting on circuits that don't have night racing for instance, but surely the lighting engine, as seen by changing the settings pre-race in arcade mode, is it's own entity? A bolt on to the engine that should be working wherever the team applies it.

It's just PD's way of thinking that I will never be able to comprehend. It's not surprising, but incredibly disappointing and even annoying.

space - ps3 / media
time - programers

i think its more of a limitation in time, rather than a waste. :)

My guess would also be a time limitation problem.

Same goes for tokyo 246, as by the looks of a couple of building it was originally designed to be day/night.

This though could be more of a tech issue. With the amout of detail at that track already, I would bet adding day/night cycles could push things a bit.

Here is hoping that one day PD turn the lights on.

The other ones that should have dynamic conditions easily added are the no chicanes versions of Le Mans 2009 and Monza.

It might have something to do with the reason for having the "fixed" variations listed separately from the change time / weather variations, instead of being the same track with different conditions selectable. I really cannot understand why the DTM layout, or the other variations of LeSarthe and Eiger don't have changeable weather (and time), practically speaking.

The way shadows are different from track to track is also interesting, and may also have something to do with it, but the rendering engine is probably otherwise in the same "mode", given the large number of light sources present on even the fixed daytime locations (i.e. tunnels, those Tokyo buildings etc.)

I wonder if they're waiting until they've got weather and / or time change set up for all tracks before standardising the way these variations are selected across the catalogue? What about DLC plans? Just speculating now.

I also never understood why the other 'ring layouts don't have any weather options, it really doesn't make any sense.

Dont think the no chicane version of le mans is run at night in real life.

Not so sure about Monza though. I think there were real life issues there regarding noise pollution, that might very well stop night racing there (my local track brands hatch has time restrictions)

Knowing Kaz, he could be trying to stick to only tracks variations which are run at night.

If this is the case, Spa is a bit of a head scratcher

EDIT. Was guessing you were referring to day/night cycles

What about DLC plans?
If they plan to release paid versions of existing tracks that add just the day/night/weather, I would be seriously disappointed. IMO this qualifies as missing features (e.g. stuff that should have been in there from day one, instead of being limited to a few tracks). I don't mind paying for new stuff, but I won't be paying for stuff that should have been in there.

(who am I kidding, I probably will buy everything they throw at us )

Once after a Capp Cup race, we found a certain glitch that let you do weather change on non-weather change tracks. We made it rain at the Tokyo kart track. I tried the times and setting it to midnight, but it just set it to the earliest time (7 am). So it appears that time change is built into the track, but weather is not.

PD do seem to make some really odd decisions. The primary odd decision here:

WHY ARE TRACKS WITH/WITHOUT WEATHER CHANGES COUNTED AS SEPARATE LAYOUTS?! :boggled::odd::confused:

Easy: to make it seem there are more tracks than there actually are.

Not all tracks deseve the 24hr dynamic Nurbugring treatment. Otherwise this cool feature of the game loses it spark and magic. Only hallowed tracks deserve this feature

It has been noted by many that weather changes do occur on course creator tracks that would normally not have the option, i.e. Mt. Aso, Tokyo Bay etc., however it's just functional, with the falling rain "graphic" and surface spray etc. The actual "weather conditions" are still the defaults (i.e. sunny, clear sky), suggesting that the aesthetic aspects of the weather must done per-track, too. Which makes sense, given the variable lighting and sky textures required for variable weather; the same requirements as for variable time.

Generic sky textures would be OK with me, but PD may well have their own plans...

Must be because of Event lists, so they have dry layots for beginner events while the full weather/time track is used in advanced events, this is only my thought

Well, without the weather settings, it made sense. Now it doesn't anymore.

What a stupid thing to say, typical of an apologist. This is the real driving simulator, right? Well last time I checked rain and darkness occurred at all racing circuits, not just "hallowed" ones.

I've always been baffled as to why all variations of the Nurburgring and of La Sarthe don't have day/night or at least weather change.

I'm reading some of your posts, you crack me up man.
Always a good reason for what's missing, never a fallacy with your precious.

That's why Porsche isn't in the game too right? Because other cars would lose their "spark and magic", only hallowed cars deserve to be in the game, like the war buggies from VW.

Utter nonsense.

Seriously.

It's a cool feature that should be EXTENDED to all tracks, not just ones that are well known or important...

And, hell, I would love to race the Eiger K trial at night.
