Does anyone know why the 4h and 24h circuits skip the Mercedes Arena section and Veedol chicane? This has been bothering me for a while.

^ What!?

The only reason the 4hr and 24hr races go onto the F1 part of the track is to take advantage of the larger pit facilities. I guess they just take the shortest route back to the Nordschleife from pit out.

Sound idea, but wrong. If they wanted to take the path of least resistance back to the Nord, they would use the GP/D hairpin instead of going all the way out to the Dunlop hairpin and Schumacher S.
I would like to know what the actual reason for using a different configuration is though. Especially the last chicane.

The 4hr and 24hr race do take the GP/D hairpin and skip out on the Mercedes-Arena section of the GP/D course. The endurance courses don't go all the way to the Dunlop hairpin and Schumacher S.

I cant speak for reality, but in game, the 24hr track at least uses the dunlop hairpin section - there is a super bright overhead VW sign at the exit of the corner. I have definitely driven that section in the dark.

EDIT: Thanks to my friend Google, I can now speak for reality. Here is the official 24hr race website with a picture of the track, with the dunlop hairpin clearly labelled.

However, all of the variations mentioned in this thread with/without Arena/Dunlop Hairpin/GP-D hairpin etc all seem to be valid configurations
