This certainly taught me a lesson about opening my big mouth and indicating a preference of which car to drive...I guess you people were all afraid to let me drive a car I liked? So, just in case the Focus RS ever shows up here...I hate it...don't want to drive it...I'd prefer 24 hours with the Subaru 360 than 30 seconds with that thing.

I'm not sure that I've ever driven this style MR2 in either GT3 or GT4. So this should be interesting.

Where did the oversteer go??

I feel cheated, I demand my money back! :grumpy:
Anyone up for putting N2 tires on this? 💡 ;)

Jokes aside, this car could really use a brake upgrade.
The braking distances increased by a long shot since last week and, to kill the oversteer, the braking points need to be anticipated by a good bit (or so I found).

Guess I'll have to re-learn it all...

After a couple of laps, just to get the feel for the car:

T10: 7:30.xxx

Dirty and with a lot of visits to the pretty flowers in the grass...

Will do some more laps as the week goes by - I have to go back to study.

I <3 these cars.

Apparently you and everyone else in this series :grumpy:

Personally, I don't dislike them - I loved the spitfire - I just tend to like change and variety. After warming up in the Spitfire I deliberately chose very different cars in Week1 ... and we got the MX5. After two cars that were similar, I - again - deliberately chose the exact opposites of another convertible, small little spitefire-esque car for week 2.

But apparently variety is not the spice of life.

Stop winging and have a race! ;)

The car is completely different to last 2 weeks.

You can push this car very hard, and it doesnt over or understeer badly at all. Very well balanced and so much fun to drive. My settings give a touch of oversteer at the limit, but its defineltly controllable and fun to drive. Last 2 cars, were very hard to push to the limit as they oversteered and slid way to much. I find im having 10 - 20 degrees of slide in a few corners right at the limit, and its very easy to control unlike trying to do that in the mx5.

The car may look realitively the same and seem the same on paper, but its very different on the track.

^ What he said 👍

Very well put, Dion.

This car doesn't have anything to do with the Mazda MX5. It understeers, if anything.
It's way more controllable and doesn't just snap on you all of a sudden like the Mazda did.

Less whining, more racing :D 👍

humph, i just wanted to appear in the thread, ill have a go at this tonite.

:grumpy:👍

nice one dave

Can I get clarification as to which clutch is the
Large single plate clutch
as I don't have this specific entry in my version of the game..

I have US version (NTSC?) and you have the following options:

Clutch: Sports
Clutch: Twin-Plate
Clutch: Triple-Plate

Also, what about rims? Can we alter these or must we stick w/what comes w/the car?

Thx-

yes you can mess with the wheels... just don't add a wing.

T2 - 1'35.831
T4 - 3'12.221
T7 - 5'34.639
T10- 7'45.776

I'm terrible on anything other than racing slicks :s

Well, after a few runs, here's what I've got so far:

T2: 1'33:066
T4: 3'05:994
T7: 5'23:708
T10: 7'33:957

Setup:
Ride Heigth: 116 (Front) 118 (Back)
Shocks: 6/6

No camber adjustments

I'd say there is definitely room for a sub-7:20:00...but then again, I'm not Veilsidebr! :D

This may be just as far as I can push this sucker for the time being!

Will try a bit more tomorrow after work to see if that's the case or not!

With some luck i should see a sub 7'14 T10, that will probably be my limit id say.

Please no-one give advice on tuning unless you ask first! Dr Watson is absolutely correct in this instance 👍 but to avoid confusion in the future please ask me for clarification first. :) Wheel rims can be changed as in week 1 but anything else is out unless mentioned in specific set up.

Well the general feeling seems to be ok so far about the car with the exception of a couple of you, Just to let you know i am aware of the types of cars we have been getting and plan to cover most bases and drivetrains so please dont worry, the NRS wont be a 1 trick pony 👍

On the other hand i just had my first few laps in the MR2, been short shifting at 6000rpm and generally getting a feel for it so no T times as yet....

The sports suspension really transforms this MR2 but i have to say on stock settings its not too good, in basic set up the MR2 is wondefully adjustable and neutral, the sports suspension biases it heavily i would say towards understeer and im working on dialling some of that out, think after 3 laps im on 118/120
5/4 and 1.7/1.2 and car coming together a bit. just love the engine note at 7000rpm and nice to see 6th is just a bit higher than 5th and usable 👍

happy racing everyone :)

Dave

T2 - 1'31.700
T4 - 3'05.209
T7 - 5'25.573
T10- 7'30.723

It took me - I swear - at least 30 runs to get to T2 :grumpy: But there's lots of time left on the track. I'll run more tomorrow.

My first reasonable clean lap.

T2 - 1.32.5
T4 - 3.06.5
T7 - 5.26.4
T10 - 7.33.4

Have about 220 km done, finding the MR2 much more forgiving than the MX5,
thankfully :p .
Still tinkering with the settings, I took Small Fryz tip on getting the rear a bit higher
and stiffer, seemed to help me get it around without wanting to crash every few
KM's, feeling less understeer and more controlable oversteer , thanks Fryzie 👍.

@ Soyfu , Hi mate, good to see ya here too 👍 , looking forward too a bit
of door handle to door handle racing dude :trouble:.

Do you expect respect for this or what ?
Could we keep our discussions about gaming please.

Of course not, i didnt write it expecting people to ooh and aah to me, i was merely sharing with everyone that on that day on those roads the Mini was mindblowing considering the company it was keeping.

.....it had a point in this thread as the topic was on that of the Mini Cooper S which was up for voting and Goixoye's experience of the same car in real life, which i felt like adding to Flat out.

If you want to discuss this furthur PM me dont write comments like that in this thread.

Was bored. So I decided to run one lap of this. It's quite fun, I'll have to have another shot later in the week.

I put in some random suspension settings.

114/114
3/8
.3/.8

My best (and only) splits

T1: 1'34
T4: 3'08
T7: 5'26
T10: 7'29

Had a couple of laps for exploration yesterday. Was quiet supprised to find out that the handling changed pretty dramatically with the sport suspension :indiff:

Strapped myself in today for the first couple of fast runs. Played around with the setting a bit (never turned on the aids, Dave, don't worry ;) ), but couldn't find something to my liking :indiff:

Remembered how I liked Dion's setup for the MX5, so came here to check what setting Dion was driving. And as he said in his post, his setup is really nice. 👍 Dion, do you teach a class of Tuning 101 somewhere, and can I enroll? ;)

First splits for me:
T2: 1'31.324
T4: 3'03.637
T7: 5'21.134
T10: 7'25.509

Still a few mistakes here and there, but at least it's clean. And the mistakes only prove that there's room for improvement :)

You were bored eh?

How nice of you to grace us with your bored presence.

I hope the midreartwo wasnt too slow or mundane for you.

I find a half throttle followed by full as you shift the weight to the rear is the best method for taking corners.

My first T10 was 7'19. Im workin on it, that is, when im not bored.
:grumpy:👍
Well done Dave.

took an early stab at this one.
it's actually quite quick for a girl car.
i didn't encounter any understeer issues though, its pretty flat with a tad of that mid-engine push you get in an nsx when lifting into a corner. (not nearly as pronounced, givien that the engine can fit in a hat-box)

settings:
112/115
8/8
1.8/0.4

sectors:
2 - 1'31.573
4 - 3'02.749
7 - 5'18.992
10 -7'21.422

Well done Dave.

If you'd like to know my feelings more often in future I'd be more than happy to post them. Right now, I'm wet, as I just got out of the shower. But I suppose it's not really a feeling per se.

The MR2 wasn't too slow at all. I'll be giving this another go....when I feel like it.:sly:

Yeah, I guess I over-reacted.
Sorry about that.

I just need to run a clean lap now to see my name in a race related topic here.
I hope the N3 tyres will suit my crap driving better than the N2 did last week.

I haven't seen my name in a race for a while, either, Cyril.

I got back into the WRS for Week 28 and that granted me the last spot in Division 1. So, it looks like I am driving like crap, here lately.

University is killing me, I get an average of 5 hours a night worth of sleep, so I don't really have much time for racing anymore, except for the weekends. And even then, who wants to sit in front of the TV all day? Beer calls and you just have to go, you know what I mean? :D

Anyway, maybe we can join our forces and submit an UBER crap time together, this week 👍

You up for it? :sly:

100 miles on the clock, 2 clean runs, only a handful actually to the T2 mark and most of those were slower than my intial ghost :grumpy:
