NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200

It's not the best card ever made, you would see an improvement from buying a new graphics card. As Pako says, it's really up to you whether or not the card is good. Are you struggling to play your games at the speed and quality you require?

No its working fine with the games I do play which are mainly low budget free ones.
Have never tried any games that have been released recently.

Yeah except today Ive been having trouble with rfactor multiplayer demo, it freezes my pc as soon as I try to "join" a game.
Does it happen when you create a game too? Do you have Zone Alarm as your firewall?

OK, I'll say it anyway just in case anyone else has any problems.

If you have Zone Alarm as your firewall, you get a window poping up to allow a program to access the internet. It say "allow" and "deny". In the game, you can't see that bubble popping up, so you have to guess where the "allow" button is. When you've guessed it, the game loads and you can play. I figured this out yesterday. I'm not sure if any other firewalls are like this but that's how you overcome the problem.

My firewall wouldnt even pop up. But then again I couldnt get rid of the Rfactor screen. So maybe my pc only seemed to be frozen but infact the firewall was just waiting for me to respond. However I did press ctrl+alt+delete several times and nothing happened? Firewall or frozen pc would you say?

The card is fine, i dont see why people change graphics cards like they would change underwear. Just download the newest drivers, and you will be alright. If you want, overclock it.

That's the problem, you don't know it's popped up. You can't do anything at all but move the mouse cursor. You guess where the "allow" button is but clicking around the area you know where it pops up (here its bottom right-hand corner of the screen).

Or just do the way Integra Type R explained.

If you were to play later games with it it's impossible to get a good framerate, let alone starting to turn up the settings. In Doom 3 everything was at its lowest and framerate wasn't particularly good. God know's how it will run later games. OK, older games are fine, but still don't expect blistering performance.

Simply put, a 5200 would not satisfy F.E.A.R. or Quake 4's requirements. It's fine for budget titles and other smaller-time games. The firewall you use may be the problem, but it also might be something dealing with SP2. If you didn't know it, SP2 came with a standard firewall preset to be "On" as soon as you rebooted your pc. It might be blocking the specific ports that the game requires to function properly.

Resolutions for firewall issues:
SP2 Firewall:
1. Go into your Control Panel
2. Double CLick on Windows Firewall
3. Click the "Off" button and click "OK"

ZoneLabs ZoneAlarm: (pretty much entails any aftermarket firewall)
1. Double click the ZA icon on your taskbar
2. Find your specific programs and their permissions
3. Allow everything for the .exe of the game by right clicking the specific .exe
4. Apply the settings and say "OK"

It's a low budget card. It's to the Geforce 5 series, what the Geforce 4 MX440 was to the 4 series. Can't expect the best graphics, but some older games will run fine with it.

I have and NVIDIA GeForce card, and I've had a few problems with the driver going haywire and crashing my computer. I don't game or anything like that, it just randomly fails under normal operation. Upgrading the driver from the NVIDIA website always fixes that. However, they seem to release a new driver for it every five minutes, so i'm a bit suspicious of them :)

i have a 5year old pc (very old!) and should be gettin a new one soon, i have a nvidia g force 32mb or somthin, and i can't play black and white 2! :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

The FX5200 was never good ... And the MX440 is actually faster ... which just goes to show how slow the FX5200 is ...

With 32 mbs you can't play much other than low res tetris, upgrade ASAP.

You're joking right? I'd be surprised if you can play Black & White 1. What games can you play on it?
