What are some fun cars you "discovered" which are hardly ever mentioned?
A few of mine:
Honda 1300 Coupe 9 S '70 - this thing is tons of fun. Capable of some serious FF lap times.

Alfa Romeo Brera Sky Window - not too obscure, but this thing will give my Evo X a run for its money off-road.
Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale '63
Alfa Romeo Spider 3.0i V6 24V '01*
Fiat Barchetta Giovane Due ‘00
Honda S800 RSC Race Car ‘68
Infiniti G20 ‘90
Lexus GS 300 ‘91*

The Mazda Cosmo Sport, 1968 version. Looks great & has great handling stock, what a little gem.

That thing positively moves! I can't believe how fast it is sometimes.

Dome Zero is another good one. The Spyker is decent too. I love it when I buy a car that nobody talks about thinking it will be average or below and it turns out to be an absolute monster.

Mitsubishi Mirage Cyborg ZR '97 - My first car on GT5 and is such a little monster in the corners :) 170bhp means its pretty decent on the straights as well

The Celica 2800XX is awesome to drive stock, sports exhaust sounds awesome, too. Nissan Primera handles great, and I found that the L46 Corvette drifts amazingly well stock.

Daihatsu Copen Active Top.

Seriously, it's so fun when tuned up a little with the stage 3 turbocharger. If anyone wants a go with it, here's my tune for it:

Mazda Kusabi Concept- kills almost everything on twisty track at 400pp. :D

Lacks a bit of power but the 6 speed transmission helps acceleration.

I've had that car collecting dust, sounds like I need to get it out.

/shameless plug

I'll stop now.

You said usable for both dirt and Tarmac. Do you keep the ballast the same? I noticed a slight decrease in lap time by decreasing the ballast weight for Grand Valley, but I also always make slight adjustments for my driving style too. Nice tune, actually both you posted are nice. 👍

Thanks!

Yep, the tunes are exactly the same for dirt and tarmac. Both tunes were shootout entries in a tuning shootout we had in the tuning forum (one tune for both road surfaces), and they did pretty well. If you liked them, feel free to check out my other tunes, link is in my sig. 👍

Yup, get the Mazda out in a 400pp room at a track like Deep Forest, it pretty much destroys all the Civics/Integras etc. in the corners and will most likely win. :D

Personal favourites in the "unusual suspects" category:

  • Mitsubishi CZ3 Tarmac (Road Model) - Awesome little 4wd runner
  • Mazda Mazdaspeed Atenza '05 - Little bit of a sleeper, as it's an unassuming, 500+bhp 4wd version of the Mazda 6 (FF)
  • Honda Accord EX Coupe - FF with big teeth, 500+bhp! I like to use the semi race exhaust with it, which makes it sound like the Supra RZ
  • Delorean - Tune it right and it handles like a dream
Finally, and quite unusual, is the Lamborghini Miura. Obscure? Well, I normally run in draft rooms and I've yet to see anyone else bring one out, yet it can perform really well, when combined with equal opponents.

(EDIT: Another little 4wd runner worthy of note is the Hyundai Clix Concept. Again, get the tuning right and it's awesome!)

I personally love the jay leno tank car

said nobody ever.

Seriously, did you know you could put dirt / snow tires on that? What madman would subject themselves to that. It's totally bonkers to drive with a wheel.

Mazda Furai

Yes I know it is a courage concept Racer, But as a pocket sized Race car it just flatters a driver, a perfect stepping stone from "Fast" sports car into "Fast" Race car. The car lets you get away with a few mistakes but it is so - "matey" almost like it is helping you around corners. It is let down by a lack of out and out pace - but it is a pretty little car nice sound and excellent road manners.

Shelby Series One Supercharged

This was a good beefy drive when I used to run spot arcade races, Well mannered FR car lets you play about in corners (4 wheel drift) thick power means you don't have to "row the car" using the gear shifter like you may have ith more peaky Turbo small engined sports cars.

I love to break out my tuned Honda Fit(my real daily driver as well)once tuned it actually does pretty decent lap times ..in game it's turbo..i real life it's supercharged

Ferrari f1 cars

These cars is like a formula gt but with x1 handling and f1 speeds

Lister storm

When. I got this car in gt4,I thought this was a good car,but in gt5,it's about as fun to drive as a road car but with extra grip.
