Odd issue with the BluRay Drive

Well, it seems my PS3 has aged now. It's being a 🤬 and not reading games correctly after 30 mins or so of playing. It's only started happening recently.

The odd part being that it worked just fine without the cover on. Then put the cover on and it was working fine for awhile. The only other thing I could think would be affecting it is my flashdrive, but I highly doubt that.

I'm usually pretty good with technology, but I'm stumped. My guess is lack of cooling - which is ether the fan going bad or dust collecting up. I'll try restoring the drivers through that dev menu and see if that'll fix it. This is just confusing...:ill:
 
Sounds indeed like a cooling issue. Perhaps the PS3 fan no longer revs up at high heat? A broken sensor maybe? Tons of dust? Bad thermal paste? Does the PS3 have enough space to "breath" in cold air, speak is it in a cupboard or similar?
 
It's up on my dresser, but has no air blockage. The only thing that might be in the way is my 360's power brick, but it's relatively small and shouldn't block it.
