Unfortunately none of my mates really like racing games so I'm kinda stuck playing alone.

i'm with you on this one. i need to find someone who likes racing in the first place(other than nascar).

:( I nearly wet myself from laughing so hard when my mum tried to play GT1.
After 15 minutes she gave up. I think she had only travelled 100 m. Funny thing was, she was better than my dad. :( :(

My mum doesn't even know how to turn the Playstation on and my dad, well, he won't venture outside of Solitaire when it comes to games.

I've tried teaching my mum and sister but with no luck, seeing as how my sister only likes the crash mode in burnout 2 LOL.

I only really play GT3 with one of me mates who is also obsessed with drifting (i gave him the first season of Initial D) cant really teach him tho cause he seems to just watch and pick up on what not and what to do, that said he is gettin better slowly.

chaos95 i live in melb too dude we should have a challenge or sumthing.

I never taught my dad how to play gt3 but he can beat me (while i'm drifting) but he lose when i don't drift. most of the time he sliped his car and start saying "ohh you're so lucky, i'm not in the mood today so i sliped the car." (it's really annoying :p

Oi I live in melbourne too drifter dan so we can challange each other

Man i can't get my dad to play anyother racing game other than "powerslide" he always say's to me that when the game simulates the sensation of speed better he'll play...

(off topic sorry :scared: ) extreme car: cool but i think i'll need to practise some more first.

my dad is an equally good gran turismo player as i am. he used to be a formula ford racer, so when it comes to setups, he will try for a while trying to find the best setup for a particular car. me and my dad have worked on the past 3 gt's together. my dad has played gran turismo since we got the first one for christmas in 1997 i think. my dad is currently playing on gt4p, as are most gt fans across the globe (except for most of you poor yanks, i feel so sorry for you (cough-NOT-cough))!!!!

That is very cool!

Im still pissed that we wont get GT4:P, PD should consider including it as a 2nd GT4 disk, that you could do the liscence exams on, or something.

I taught my girl to play it and she's quite good but she's not too interested in computer games, neither am I really exept for the GT series.

My mom played Pac Man on the Atari when I was a kid. Now, she just plays Solitaire with a deck of cards.

My three-year-old is very fun to watch play. When he crashes, he says, in a very cute kid voice, "Darn it" The eight-year-old is terrible at it, but he's getting better than the three-year-old finally.

I showed it to my dad once a long time ago, probably when GT3 first came out. He tried it but sucked at it, said he couldn't see the turn coming up. I think part of the reason he didn't like it was that the controls wasn't the same as reality i.e. turning too soon.

MissGT is pretty good at GT3, when she wants to be, and MistressGT is just starting to learn. I just got a second, new iLinked PS2 and will buy the game again, in a 2-4-1 deal, this week. We're just about ready for challenges. A year from now will be fun.

Cheers,

MasterGT

I tried to teach my mum how to play gt3, it was the saddest thing i've ever seen. She hit was on test course for crying out load! She gave up after I wouldn't stop laughing at her.

Yeah for sure. Get a little melbourne GT club going. :D

hey man, im in melb to,, we should get a few races happening!! :) :) im in berwick, down near dandenong.

anyway, whenever i have to race on the test course, like a 20 lapper, i give it to my girlfriend and she does it hehe, saves me from all the boredom. but when it comes to courses with turns, she can do her own racing haha :)

Instead of laughing, if you had encouraged her, you might have had a good playing partner.

my uncle wanted to race me on one of the rally tracks... he wasn't that bad but i kept slowing down to let him get up to my speed and after a while he started to get good.

He ended up hitting my bumper and i hit the side rall but kept goin and i only lost by .001

Me..........my uncle

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I taught my girlfriend how to play GT 3, and she already had a familiarization with the game, she just hadn't played either one in about a while. Now that we both live together and play avidly, she's constructed this little annoying and spunky little **** of a beetle that I can't seem to get rid of unless I get my Spoon Civic back. And when I do....... :sly: hee-hee-haa-haa-haaa-haaa.....

*cough-cough.....Friggin beetle.....*

I only have one controller;)

I've taught quite a few people and although half or more of them hardly ever play games they all did pretty well. Best would be my ex-neighbour (14 years old) - i taught him a few things and now he's on his way to completing GT3 (very, very slowly though as i don't think he plays that much anymore).

Dad has always been pretty good at games and with a bit of practice can start geting better. My brother is the same and my 14 year old sister took a R34 GT-R around Swiss Alps one day and took her about two minutes to do a lap (saved the replay :D).

Unfortunately i have never met anyone who can beat me in Gran Turismo. :(
My ex-neighbour always brags on to his mates at school how good i am a racing games and how amazing (or whatever) it is that i can just pick up a new game and be used to it within half an hour or less. Which is true, but i don't think i'm that good as there's people out there who spend every day playing games whereas i only play once or twice a week.

Yeah, I don't see what's so hard about getting used to games. People often say screw it I'm not used to it, but I don't get how they can give up on a game 'cause they're not used to it.

I started teaching my then girlfriend how to play GT, we used to do the Sunday Cup together as she didn't like racing Grand Valley so I always ended up winning the last race. It got her some money though to spend on the car but we never took it any further. Now she is my wife and when I turn the PS on to play GT3, she moans that I used to stop her from playing GT!!! We also have a daughter, but @ 10 weeks she's a little young to be taught how to play GT, so now I'm a Dad that plays video games. My parents were too boring to play, my Mum used to complain about the car noise going round & round the track and when I tried to explain to her she came out with the classic: -

'It's not real life you know. You can't interact with your little electronic buddies the way you can with your girlfriend. You should spend more time with her.'

Well my dad (loves Colin Mcrae and Sega GT on his PC) is impressed by GT4P, but never really brakes efficiently and and locks up \ does not brake enough, so no real talent there (even tho he probably taught me the most about fast road driving!)

My fiance is pretty hopeless but does not drive so we'll let her off.

My mum (62) is really quite good... she can race a miata \ mx5 in GT4P and finish mid field, 3rd \ 4th usually, has only played it a couple of times.

On saturday, I let my eldest daughter play, she's not yet 5! She has sussed steering, throttle control (slowing down for tighter bends) and braking when panicking (like the V tight bends at citi di aria) but not braking with any control yet. I've seen some surprisingly good opp lock (nearly flat out in third on last bend of the shorter race circuit and she's twitching the wheel, the car uncomfortably in little drifts) but I think these are luck rather than understanding yet....

These are all with the DFP wheel, none of them could get anywhere with pads.

*sighs* It seems that my silly boyfriend (Shining Mirage) has a lot to say about me and my beetle. Let me start from the beginning, I know how to play GT, but never got the chance to play GT 2. When I met him, he had GT 3 and I just brought a PS 2 last December. He teached me how to play GT 3 and I got the hang of it. After awhile, he taught me out to modify the cars. I find that quite interesting, but anyway, I modified a New Beetle and some other cars. The only thing is, he helped me mod out the Beetle. The only way he can beat me is with the Spoon Civic. I can't beat that thing for the life of me. Ah well.

My mom plays games, all sorts of games. When I was younger, I taught her how to play Street Fighter, that was a mistake within itself. Then there was Mario Kart on SNES. Big mistake there too. Now, I taught her how to play GT. She bumped into everything, and I do mean everything. She gave up after a couple of months. She still plays games, fighting, action/adventure, sci-fi, and the occasional military based games.

I can still kick her butt in GT though. :sly:

As for Mirage, :sighs: I'll beat him in my beetle one (I do mean) one day!
