I've heard of this before. Using a small shot to get a car going while the big turbo takes time to spool. But there's a difference between low rpm use and partial throttle application. You don't want to hit it from idle, but you can still spray at 3000rpm so long as you're at WOT. The point is, you have to burn everything you put into the motor. If you don't, it will "pool" and ignite when you DON'T want it to.

Ah, that was a point I'd forgotten, the anti-lag system I was reading about only fires during WOT. Thanks for the explanation about why low-rpm applications are not advised - it makes sense but I hadn't thought of that.

Great. Can we take "NOS" out too, and put N2O?

Nothing irritates me more than the TF&TF's influence in that category. ;)

But... isnt the namebrand NOS actually in the game?

^Thats what I want to know aswell! but noone's online that can answer it (I don't think), also I wanted to know what sound the NOS made......

Once you buy a NOS bottle does it refill after each race or do you have to do a sort of oil change procedure and pay 50 or 100 credits to fill it up?

Its not necessarily a bad thing to add NOS to the GT series..only thing im worried about is to what extent does the A.I use NOS.
do they only use NOS when your car is equiped with it?
do they use NOS in specific races?
do they use NOS at all??.
to all those who already have gt4, it would be nice to have these questions answered,
thanks.

If things are done correctly ie your not forced to use it by the AI using it in the later stages I don't mind how often you can use it, in the XLink I'm sure you'll be able to tell people no NOS in this race or NOS is allowed ect so thats no big problem if someone cheats and uses it anyway you just don't let them race again.

why shouldn't NOS be allowed anyway? that's like saying "turbos are not allowed" or "superchargers are not allowed"

nistrous isn't something magical, it gives a considerable boost in performance, but for a very short time, in real life it's the cheapest way to boost your HP so dramaticly, so nothing wrong here, and don't tell me things like "but those aren't allowed in REAL races!"
Fact is formula CART had an overtake button for quite some time, wich wasn't nitrous, but the effects were similar.
think about it for a minute, if you had YOUR real car with nitrous and you were at a race with other street cars at the track or togue, wouldn't you use it?
Nitrous is just the means to an end, wich is more HP.
(as much as evryone who is intrested in "track days" i know this is unrealistic because of the risks involved... and not to mention, the money required, wich is a LOT.)
i really don't get what the big deal is, someone with nitrous wouldn't scare me one bit if i had spend my money in other tuning options instead of NOS...
if you wanted to make a fair race, you could ask your friends (assuming tuned cars were available in multiplayer, i don't know). to spend say... 30,000 bucks, including car and tuning options, and see who gets the winning combination.. on a small track with few straights, i assure you.. NOS would be a poor choice compared to investing the money on better tyres or a better suspension, etc.

👍

Agreed - N20 is a very legitimate tuning option, but all things considered, will be one of the last tuning parts I apply. I think I'd find more use in even a lighter flywheel...

I fully hope the AI uses it. If we can and they can't, that will suck hardcore. Also, anything that makes the AI more challenging to beat, I'm all for :D

i have not noticed the AI using it... and u can set it between 10 ~ 100 shot... u can use it at any time as far as i can tell, tho it does cut out for a moment during gear change (too low rpm? or just the change? - dont know)

i havent noticed the AI using it yet, but an opel speedster turbo keeping up with my nitrous boost on a straight during a 9 point battle makes me suspicious that they do.. but really, how are u gunna check if they are using nitrous or just motor?

yes indeed, you can't really check if they use it, do you feel like the impact of this nitro is small or do you use it all the time from now on just to make sure you can win?

hope the impact isn't big at all...

Would be right for them to use it, so there would be a possible explanation for that cheating catch-ups in games sometimes :D

What does that 8/9 point battle thing mean?

Please somebody correct me if I'm wrong, because I've only been playing the game for a couple of days.

The points x08 was talking about are the A-Spec points that you get awarded at the end of the race, I think you start off with 250 (that's the most I've won anyway?) and the bigger the advantage you have over the other cars the less points you get, so a 9 point race you should leave all the other cars in your dust.

First off, I apologize for bringing up an old thread.

I can't seem to get Nitrous to work. The button for nitrous is called "Special" in the button menu, right? I've gone into settings, and it says nitrous is equipped. I use a custom controller configuration where R1 changes views, L1 is the "behind you" view L2 does nothing (I use AT) And R2 is "Special." Any help would be appreciated. Sorry for the n00b13 question.

OK-I've done the search and looked through every nitro/NOS thread for the last hour. My friend and I ran into this problem over the weekend. Nitro was only available on controller 1. The "special" buttons were unavailable on controller 2 no matter if his mem card or my mem card was in. Any answers on this??

To the question if the AI uses N2O, i'm 100% sure it does. I was doing the Japanese 80's Festival race on Suzuka driving an '84 Skyline HT2000 RS-X Turbo beefed up to 230 HPs

I repeated the race numerous times and very often in lap 2, on the long straights, an MR2 1600 G-Limited SC'86 (stock ~130 HPs) showed up in my rear view mirror and shot past by me in just a few seconds.

Considering the fact that in the first lap of each race I was faster than ALL the competitors, and suddenly in lap 2 this MR2 gained such incredible speeds on the straights (compared to my car), I'm really sure I saw some N2O in action, triggered by an AI-driver.

Watch too much Fast and the Furious movies :dopey: ?

I've seen nitrous used a lot for low rpm applications. In cars, nitrous is not as volatile as you think, it's not that easy to blow your engine, unless you shoot too much.
I think he's thinking of nitro glycerine :dopey:

The AI uses nitrous even in the slower races. I was running the Daihatsu Midget II series the other day, and at Tsukuba, I came out of one turn right on my opponent's bumper, both of us going the same speed, and all of a sudden he just takes off and pulls away by about 8 car lengths on me down the short straight we were on. I catch up to him in the next corner, again come off the turn right on his bumper at the same speed, and this time I outrun him by a couple car lengths. He had to have been using nitrous on the previous straight, it was like he suddenly had 10-15 more horsepower than I did. All driving aids were off, and we came off both corners with nearly identical exit speeds, it wasn't until we were a little ways down the first straightaway that he suddenly began pulling away.

I never use nitrous myself. I prefer to beat the AI stock if possible, or with a few minor upgrades. Makes things more interesting... :D

ive had some things happen when i have a slightly better car (100ptrace) and a nother shoots past me like no 2moro, then u draft lol.

if u realy wanna know if the ai uses it, go into replay and inside cam.
when ur racing u cant hear it in 3rd person cam, but roof and bumper there is a signifigent hiss from the N2O poring in 👍

I have a new question for u guys...

Our driver in B-Spec Mode can use NOS or not?
I never bought NOS when I use a car for B-Spec because I don't know if he can use it...

no he cant ive bought it for every car its avaliable for and he never uses it on any enduro races or others. I'ts just us who can use it

ya.. name of this thread needs to change to something other than NOS

NOS and NX are BRAND NAMES.. they mean.. nothing!.. they just stand for something and are company names. NOS=Nitrous Oxide Systems NX=Nitrous eXpress

this thread needs to change to either N2O, or nitrous oxide..... or laughing gas :p

The bots don't use NOS and this is wrong:

How long does NOS last?
Approximately 30 seconds if used non-stop
It all depends on how you configure your NOS. You can set it up so you can use NOS for the whole damn race if you want, or set it for max power like I usually do so that I can do awesome burnouts and great accelerations on the straights which is the only place where I use NOS.
