After all this, 2 months later, the cages are full again from people dropping of birds. Sterling and his wife have moved their bedroom into the basement, and changed their master bedroom over to a large free flying small bird room.

after all that trouble, it's good to hear that there are new birds flying freely in an "ex-bedroom", would be really fun to see flying birds in a room:tup::dopey:

But I'm sorry too for you, although a bit late, we have FOUR(!!!) cats living here, and I can't think of the fact I might lose all:nervous: I know how simple pets can become REALLY fun to play with and stuff:D This is a sad story DA.......

Sorry to hear about all that DA.

Although it is good to hear that the Sanctuary is back to capacity.

Wow. that really sucks AO. I have a parrot. Stroppy jerk of a thing that is, I havent had the time, nor the patience to tame it yet and now I need to clip its wings so it can't try its arial attacks and maybe get some welding gloves to stop the major scarring. Shes an African or Indian ringneck, shes yellow and looks cool but is far from it at the moment, I'll tame her one day. Got any secrets?

Loads of patience, a towel, and lots of Sterile bandages. Patience for the both of you. Towel to wrap her up and carry her around in, and bandages for your fingers, face, or anything else that gets in her beak when she wiggles out of the towel.

Talk to her while shes in the cage. Bring her treats when you do. Be the one to feed her everyday. She'll accept after a while that you are the food bringer.

To be really honest, here in the US we don't have wild parrots being brought in as pets. The ones we have were born and raised here. With the exception of the ones that were smuggled in before it was banned. No live parrots can be brought into the US.

Hey, Alex, I hadn't forgotten about this story but I had wondered what was up. The parrot-owner circles sound a lot like the show-dog circles that a friend of ours runs in. What a friggin' idiot: as if anybody would kill parrots to help raise money to save more parrots. She should be fed Chilean grapes herself.

I'm sorry it's been such a blow that has hurt the ACPR's standing in the community. Best of luck to you folks!

Well again, I'm very sorry to hear that, since I'm a big bird fan too. On a happier note though, I'd like say that my pet dove's egg's hatched last sunday and those little baby birds are damn cute and are doing fine! Also, its quite amazing to see how much they grow in one day!

Are you sure they didn't come in a package Jeff? Did you have to soak them in water to see them grow in one day, Jeff? Hmmm? Are you sure that those "birds" weren't just...sponges?

Thought so.

Hmm....I thought I posted in here? I suppose not? :odd:
Anyways man I feel sorry for what happened. I am having one of these days today. :( I will be making a thread on Saturday explaining all the details but anyways I hope you feel better.

You know how cool that'd be?

Amazing how there will always be someone out there to think up crazy stories like that. It really is a shame that you guys had to go through all that on top of the loss of your birds. :( Nevertheless, I'm happy to hear that the next generation has already moved in at All Cape!
