From what I have seen it doesnt look too much different to the handling from WRC4 on the Ps2, not really sim like RBR but looks and feels like rallying. Movement of the incar hands isn't very nice though.

It's too bad the gameplay doesn't look that good in motion.

Those screenshots make it look fantastic, but the physics look awful in all the videos we've seen.

;)

I thought this also and my initial reaction when I found out milestone were involved was, 'damn, it's going to suck'. But the more I read from those that have had hands on experience the more hope I have.

Check this preview out from VVV, some very positive things come out of it.

That's the problem right there...

The handling looks far more like Colin Mcrae 3, in my opinion, but either way you shake it, that's bad news for a supposed "rally sim".

As has been mentioned, the cars seem to pivot on a central point (ala the Colin Mcrae series) instead of reacting to what's happening at all 4 corners (i.e individual suspension travel, tires against the road, etc...)

Don't get me wrong, I'll be in line to buy the game, just like most of you. I'm a diehard WRC/Rallying fan, so it's this or nothing.

"From struggling with understeer, suddenly it clicks, I'm really starting to feel the handling. If I was to compare it, I would say it reminds me of Colin McRae 1 and 2 releases in the late 90's"

Not a good sign. The physics in the first 2 CM titles was appalling.

That article seems to gloss over a lot of the faults, and even go so far as to glorify the physics... If the physics are anything like Colin Mcrae 1 and 2, then their reaction to them is a bit off to say the least.

From the still pictures above, particularly the one with the cockpit view, I'm saying 'wow'.
Not so sure about the motion blur though. To me, motion blur is used by developer's to hide graphical glitches or inperfections. That was a big issue with NFS Shift.
Hope they keep it as detailed in motion as they do when the car is stationary.

Its a bit different to Dirt though. What with it being based on the real WRC.

Im not gonna get this game not expectin a sim, cos its clearly not gonna be a fullu blown sim. I will buy it expecting a fun representation of this seasons WRC. Aside from the physics, it is shaping up to be very fun, the "Road to WRC" sounds excellent.

This looks good, I don't care if it's realistic or not... it has rally cars, I want. I'm going to buy this, it sounds good. I really like the idea of the career mode, I've always wanted to be able to make my own team and progress up through the ranks. It's looking good.

Blackbean had some booths at the Rally Deutschland, a few WRC drivers got to try it out, it is after all WRC license, so there is marketing ploys, id say, pay less attention to what they say, and more attention tho their faces and expressions.

WRC Drivers give WRC 2010 The Game a spin.

As with many of us true Rally fans, we have to get this, because there is just nothing else, nothing as dedicated at least.

GT5 is so broad it will have a hard time giving us the co-pilot assisted man vs mountain type feeling that WRC might give us. But physics wise and graphically GT5 stands superior.

Just as long as we never, ever get another game like Sega Rally. That game sucked, big time.

Why?, because it was too arcade-y?.

The console version was never meant to be a serious rally game either..

Blackbean do this very well in Sbk X, so i have no doubt it'll be implemented well in their WRC game

i'm not a big rally fan though, so i won't be getting the game

I gotta say it could be alot worse, but they have 78 stages in 13 countries, every stop of the WRC calendar (although the stages arent real world like WRC4) It has all the classes and career mode.

Graphics are alright for the budget and time theyt took to make it (about a year) its alright, nothing special.

The cockpit view really bugs me it looks like an unpscaled CMR2 cockpit, all the difference would be made if they used hi-res textures.

But the outsides of the car look good.

Ill be getting it anyway, because im not prepared to rely on GT for a WRC career mode. Id love to be surprised tho.

Hey guys, this review does not make it seem stellar but it sound very good to me when the physics are compared to GT5. I am also very impressed with the graphics in this video, considering they had a year to put it all together. Makes me wonder why it takes PD so much longer to develop/release.

The bigger fail is that it's coming out on release day which means the cars are probably already on the disc and you have to fork out more cash to unlock them. From the way it sounds they don't really add anything to the game, unless you can do a season with them or something.

Also, I noticed in the article they only had the euro cost, Is this game not coming out in the US anymore(thought they were aiming for a December date)?

I have to say, at first i was not impressed with graphics, but most were PC and they were running low to capture it. I saw PS3 footage and it is drastically better. The game is simply going to be for hardcore fans I think. One thing Im hoping for is reverse running of stages. This is a great come back for rally games until Dirt3 because Dirt2 was fun for a month or so, then lack of variety kicked in and those 12 stages got old haha

Oops, sorry. Should have been more specific. I meant the terrible current-gen version.
The original arcade/Saturn one developed by AM3 was for it's time brilliant, and I do have fond memories of playing it.
But that was then, and this is now. Arcadey racing games have no place these days.
Because, to be frank they are boring and s***t.

I agree with you there, the new rally cars and changes haven't done the series any favours. I was sad to hear the other day that one of my favourite pubs I sometimes go on holiday has swapped their old Sega Rally Machine for a new updated one.:(

Not everybody cares for simulation games, they simply just want to have fun racing, that's why games like GRID, DiRT2 etc. are so popular. Also, a lot of people think sims are boring and s**t so maybe we should get rid of those too. OH WAIT...

If you don't like arcadey games then don't buy them, just forget about how terrible they are and get something else, there's plenty of proper sims out there.
