Hi

I can´t find the option to activate tire wear/ fuel consumption/ damage when I'm trying a track in GT6 (offline).

So, is it there hidden in any place of the menu? or doesn´t it exist?

Cheers

It exists in races that require you to pit, but not before.

So just like in GT5.

Well, I've done a lot of Nürb (and other tracks) hot laps with tire wear/fuel consumption and damage activated in Practices session in GT5. It was quite simple in the first window while the track was charging. But that options are no longer there in GT6. Other settings are the same but not that ones.

This is the real driving simulator and everyone knows cars in real life don't suffer from tire wear or fuel consumption... ...PD logic fail. :banghead:

To solve that, I open an online race just for myself, just for practicing.

Same here, since 95% of my driving/racing is done online I do all of my practice/testing in my own private online room. It's actually smart to do it this way because it's so much easier to switch between tracks and cars. And occasionally a friend will drop in and drive/chat with me. 👍

Not good for people who play 100% offline. This is what kept the game alive for me in GT5. Arcade used to be a huge thing, but now they killed it by taking fuel/tire consumption out. Playing online is not an alternative since it's not nearly as fun (again for some, me included). You first have to look for a lobby, or make your own, you don't know what kind of people will be in that room, and almost always interacting with people isn't a pleasant experience. I prefer the dead A.I, even though it needs to be improved drastically.

Right now I'm waiting for an update that might bring this back and also fix the blind A.I. In the meantime, I'll try and find a reason why to keep playing, even though it's getting harder day by day. Thankfully I have other games to keep me entertained.

lol PD

Arcade mode is pretty much dead. In addition to the lack of tire wear and fuel consumption, the races are total garbage. The game will pair you up with cars that are faster and cars that are slower than your own, so you never get a close race. Plus, the leading car will always slow down on the last lap to give the human racer a chance. GT5 is better in all of these aspects.

It's frustrating. First, in GT5 we could take visual damage off in Arcade mode and we couldn't enable tire wear; whereas in Practice mode it was the opposite. Now in GT6, we can only take visual damage off in Arcade mode. :/

I thought they would have thought to "fix" these inconsistencies along with all of the locations that have weather and time change to have them for the multiple layouts and reverse layouts for that track or location. It's too simple to overlook. They did fix that to an extent, but Eiger Nordwand... still?

See, I do the same but it's frustrating because when you go online the physics change. I really prefer the offline physics but if I want to run with tire wear I have to put up with the online physics. :irked: Very frustrating.

I have yet to see GT6 matching you up with a perfect lineup of cars. And even if it does, no matter if you're in professional, with A.I aggressiveness to 10, they will run like in Sunday Cup. In GT5 there were a few tricks to get a great race against the A.I, like changing the tires before the race until you got the desired car lineup.

There were a few car combinations that ended up in races were most of the pack raced bumper to bumper, including you. It was so much fun. It kept me playing GT5 for almost a year before they announced GT6. All that is gone...

You are all right.
But the problem of ONLINE lobby testing is that you can't save your replay and use it as reference point of how a car compares in handling with another car. I found that quite useful in GT5 especially on figuring which car to use for my driving style. Only lap times sometimes won't work especially if you test a lot of cars and sometimes you have like 4-5 cars that clock almost identical lap times.

Yep...I'm waiting for an update so I can race in arcade mode with Fuel usage and tyre wear against AI too.

In GTR2 you can select 2x 4x or 6x which would be great in GT6 against the AI in arcade.. (I'm not interested in online play at all)

Maybe PD could implement this feature in the future but I doubt it with their history. After all these years of wishing for these type of improvements, I think It's given me an ulcer :-)
Maybe the PS3 can't do this kind of stuff for some reason.
I personally think the core of the game should be aimed at a strong offline mode first and then deal with online after that. That's why I still enjoy GTR2 now after all those years.

If you are referring to the offline features we lost in the move from GT5 to 6 I simply can't accept this answer/excuse from PD. If GT5 can do it then surely GT6 can as well or PD has made a very serious error in choosing slightly improved graphics over racing features.
