If you want to take your GTPartisans group off GTPlanet and onto an whole new website/forum, we can't (and wouldn't) stop you. But you have to take it off GTPlanet - you don't get to use us as a recruitment centre for your own forum. It's one or the other - or you have a site accompanying your GTPartisans group that does not require GTPartisans members to register (for fear of marginalisation if they do not). It's frankly not that complex.
That clears up a lot. I never said there would be marginalization, either. To be perfectly honest, using the group as a recruitment center would be a fairly stupid move anyway, since you're apparently allowed to advertise your website(s) in your GTP sig - I could just change the link, remove the "GT" part of the name, and keep getting approximately the same results as far as membership goes. No, there are other reasons I would want to have them both.
First, the group would serve as the public "face" of our organization, ensuring people remain aware of our presence and allowing us to present a united front if and when that were required. That way I won't have to convince everyone to give up their avatar or a line of sig space for the group, something that has proved difficult in the past.
Second, it would serve as a badge for members to wear. That way I won't have to convince everyone to give up their avatar or a line of precious sig space for the Partisans.
A better question would be why take it off GTP if you're devoted to fighting the Brony menace that's apparently on GTP...
The brony menace is everywhere. There is a strong presence here on GTP, but that's definitely not the only place.
Also, it might be just as important to create a strong anti-brony influence on forums that do not yet have a high brony population.
Either way, it would be easier to organize operations from an independent forum than from a social group here.
A better question still would be how it has "nearly taken over" this site. I know Jordan only owns and runs it and thirty-odd of us help him to do that as best we can, so we might have completely missed this apparent bloodless coup and an explanation of how, when and where it occurred would be awesome.[/color][/b]
It's mostly a figure of speech, but there are things here and there. I'd rather not revive these arguments in Site Support, so let's get this over with as quickly as possible.
-Starting with the Funny Pic Thread VI incedent.
-When the argument spilled over into the brony thread, well, I'd rather not get into specifics. Let's just say that a lot of hard (or, in some cases, just trollish) words were said by bronies, and they never seemed to suffer any consequence for it. Forgive me if there were infractions, as there was never any indication of such.
-They repeatedly invaded the old MLPRG, constantly asserting their right to be there. When Vandenal got tired of kicking them out, they just stayed until the group went down. They tried the same thing when I started the Partisans, hence why it's a moderated group. Guess what? No penalty...
Now, think for a second... if it had been me, or in the last case, the MLPRG, doing those things, I probably wouldn't have a GTP account anymore. So, maybe they aren't taking over the site, but they seem to be able to get away with somewhat more than normal members. Especially that last one, I never really got a good answer as to what was going on there.
I'm going against my own better judgment here, as well as the advice of my peers, but simply put, you need a life.
Seriously.
You're probably right. One of these days...

White and Nerdy, wouldn't you prefer to be looked upon as a productive, contributing and respectable member of the community, than just a laughing stock? It's not too late to change your mind.
Actually, that post provides a pretty good point. If anyone who opposes bronies becomes a laughing stock, what does that seem to indicate...
