Somewhere.
I was thumbing through the latest issue of Super Street (some ridiculous car mag in the US, for you guys in Europe & elsewhere) and there was an interview with Mr. Yamauchi. Sounds interesting, i thought, until i got to that part.

Retarded Super Street writer : "Now, to go in a different direction, many of the JGTC drivers we've spoken to- Keiitchi Tsuchiya, Manabu Orido, Nobuteru Taniguchi, etc...- say that as much as they like JGTC and road racing, they love drifting. So we're wondering, will we see any D1 GrandPrix-type events at circuits like Bihoku Highland?"

To which Mr. Yamauchi replied, unbelievably so: "Because we are continually seeking the real feel of the car, the physics engine has improved significantly. This will allow for the car to act naturally, thus you can drift more accurately in the game. Previously, we provided drift tires, drift mode-stuff like that. However, I'm comfortable saying that drifting will be more real in GT4 that it has been in the past. With that said, i am considering a variety of game modes, some of which i cannot share. One significant one- probably the one that you are most concerned about- is we will include a "Drift Contest" in the game. We may not name it D1, however we hope to provide that kind of experience to you."

Like i said, decreasing. I fail to see the importance of such a "mode" in a driving simulation, or any racing game whatsoever. This will suck, big time.

****, this is the last thing we need.

I expected that kind of retarded answer in here, but anyway, the point is, if i want to hit 100% in GT3, i don't need to go and drift my way around a racetrack. If i want to complete the next one, i'll have to do it, and i don't see the point in it.

Ah - it'll be good for a cheap laugh.

What??? The gods have smiled upon us when this feature was annouced! This completed the game!

oh getting nasty heh, have a bit of a cry because someone doesnt agree with you:rolleyes:

you want to start flaming wars??

BTW i dont like enduro's much but i dont care if they put them in GT4 again, ill do them to get 100% with no complaints, and i dont see the point in them just like you dont see the point in drifting

Endurance is racing, drifting is purely showing off.

Exactly. 👍

GT is Driving simulator not Racing simulator

It's Driving Simulator, not Showoff Simulator.

I can come up with weak-ass comments like that, too. You're one of those obsessed kids who won't see the light. You must be an IRL fan, too.

Ummm, I know. Drifting is a demonstration of driving skill and control. In some cases, depending on the driver and the turn, drifting is actually faster. You can deny it as much as you want but race me online in GT4 and I'll prove my claim. Actually, it's not a claim it's a fact. Keiichi Tsuchiya did it during a NASCAR race and won. For those who don't know who he is, he's the Drift King, or dorikin. Drifters all over the world recognize him as the best, no question, no challenge. He's also a professional race driver in the JGTC for the Arta team.
Another testimate to drifting is that fact that he raced an R32 GT-R in his personal drift car (AE86). The GT-R was gripping and he was drifting. Guess who won? The Drift King of course!

omg Punkrock and Cobraboy, everyone else don't mind them, they just like to try and get people to start flaming, they hate drifting because they're no good at it, so they're in denial by saying it's pointless and racing has more of a purpose, when in the end all you're doing is going from point A, around a couple of corners and BACK to point A, if that is meaningful then how come drifting is not. Honestly if you don't want GT4 because of it, don't buy it, but don't try and START a flame war because of your petty little arguments. Punkrock, you're right It's not a showoff simulator, and it's not a racing simulator, it's a DRIVING simulator, meaning it covers every aspect of driving, if someone wants to go around monaco at 20MPH they can do that, because it's driving, if someone wants to slide around every corner and control their car's skid, they can do thatm because it's driving. If you don't like it, then don't win any D1 cars when GT4 comes out and stop bi*ching

Oh please, let's not start saying that drifting takes skill. Sure, lots of people can't do it, and yes, it's a skill up until a certain point.

Drifting is not racing. It's purley for showing off and having fun. In car races, if you're trying to win, are you going to drift around a turn? Hell no. You'll drift around one if you win though. And why? To showoff.

Drifters suck!

Good god. This is turning into that thread that was about drag racing. I'll admit it. I dont like drifting. I wont care if its in GT4 as long as its not a requirement to get 100% in the game.

hey battle stage, do you have the clip of him drifting that skyline?

All ive seen him is from Best motoring and i want to see more.

he did nascar? can you send me the link?

i dont understand why these ppl are complaining about that feature in the game. like someone said before, it is all preference.

i also do not like enduro races either.
driving simulator or not.. this is a game. which is made to have fun. once your start learning how to drift properly it is actually quite fun.

why do you get so defensive???
you have a one way view and that view is YOUR WAY, and if anyone thinks different you flame them

so you must be one of those obsessed kids who has little hissy crying fits when someone thinks different to you

why do you want everyone to see your preposed light

I can come up with weak-ass comments like that
what do you call this

Endurance is racing, drifting is purely showing off.

i drift in real life, it is fun and you need skill to pull it off right
i drift only with a couple friends in relatively unknown placess where i dont get many spectators (i dont want spectators)

oh by the way i dont like rice ethier, my RPS13 drift car looks fairly standard no stupid body kits
and just because i dont like rice i also dont flame people that do!

I'd like to rip you a new one, but i just can't. You're the stupidest and most pathetic member on GTPlanet, congratulations.

You'll notice that WRC drivers, who are viewed by many to be some of the best drivers, drift a lot on loose surfaces (gravel, mud & snow, the fact that all four wheels are making traction helps a lot in these conditions, and often taking the best lines means taking them sideways), but they use "grip driving" (what a ****ing load of BS this term is) on tarmac. Gee, i wonder why...

My point is, Drift competitions have no place in GT. Buy Ridge Racer if you want to do that.

I do honestly want to see PunkRock or Cobraboy drift seemlessly, when they can show me they're good at it, then they have the right to say it takes no skill what so ever, and I don't mean in GT3 either.

You're doing the exact same thing here, because i'm telling you drifting is a bad idea.

so you must be one of those obsessed kids who has little hissy crying fits when someone thinks different to you

Far from it. I'm usually open to critiscism, when it makes sense at least.

why do you want everyone to see your preposed light

Why do you want everyone to believe drifting is a superior way of driving?

i drift in real life, it is fun and you need skill to pull it off right
i drift only with a couple friends in relatively unknown placess where i dont get many spectators (i dont want spectators)

With that grammar, i'd say you're too young to drive.

Who talked about rice? You refer to your 240SX as an "RPS13", which, by the way, it isn't. That's ricier than anything. I'm a ricer because i drive a Honda? Your way of thinking is pathetic.

I never said i could do it better. I said i didn't find interesting, and failed to see the point in it, in a game like GT. You're misreading everything, i never talked about real life drivers.

PunkRock, I actually used to think highly of you, like I could have an intelligent conversation with you about cars, but that statement had to be THE most pig headed thing i've ever read from you. With that maturity level, i'd say YOU'RE the one not old enough to drive.

Wow, the complete ingorance in this forum is amazing. I guess if it isn't F1 or NASCAR it isn't racing. Drifting takes a huge amount of skill. It's not about high horsepower and speed. It's about pushing your car beyonds it's limits and controlling it. That display of driver skill is what it's about. Drifting is highly respected in Japan whereas here in the US people talk trash and throw around their egos in all forms of racing. It disgusts me.

I'm sure you all will be surprised to hear that some of the best racers in Japan are also some of the best drifters in the world. Look at rally racers. They use drifting techniques to achieve better times even on tarmac courses. They've proven that it's a valid technique. If you're too dense to realize that then maybe you shouldn't be racing at all.

for starters my car is an RPS13 and a imported 180SX, and who are you to tell me my car isnt a RPS13

i never said drift is superior i just said i would like it in the game

and now your picking on my grammar because you have nothing else to say

I'm tired of arguiying with you kids, it seems whatever i say, you come back with an even dumber answer, and try to flame me.

So, i'll let the others interested in making fun of you do so, until a moderator close this thing whenever they want.

Viper GTS, and everyone who appreciates the skill it takes to drift, just ignore this thread, all of this criticizm is coming from the guy who thinks Ferrari's are POS's

NO i want know why my car which clearly says RPS13 on the ID plate is not a RPS13?

[PunkRock]Mommy Mommy! I don't like those poopy heads, make them go away! Drifters have coodies... ewwwww. [/PunkRock]
