Oh no gt5 is gone for me

Oh okay, I thought Sony had issued an update back when people were losing data when their PS3's broke so that you could switch HDD's out. I'd check to be sure though because I for some reason remember Sony addressing this issue.

No it doesn't let you... As soon as you put in a hard drive from another PS3 or a new hard drive, the system will automatically format the hard drive... Then you have to put in a usb flash drive with the latest PS3 UPDATE SOFTWARE on it and it will then begin to install it... Trust me i know...


Also just want to give a little info on some back-up tools... I have found some software for a "fat32 formatter" for external hard drives (Microsoft windows after i believe 2000 will no long let you format hard drives over 32GB to fat32) i have software that can do it... So if you get say a 500GB+ external hard drive want to be recognized on the PS3 (show up like a usb flash drive would)... Let me know i will send you a link to download it.

My apologies for not answering the question yes I backed up my data.

As for leaving out the full stop I apologise. All I see from your last statement is you starting something thats not relevant im not looking to have a argument with you nor did I ask for it.

Edit: also I had asked people to contribute to this thread where all you seem to be doing is jumping in and picking at things, im trying to work out why? Me not answering a question was a oversight on my part nothing else either contribute or simply dont post.

I was just wonderng if you backed up your save game data- you'd be surprised how many don't, and also because I hate it when people can't be bothered to type a post with reasonable grammar, punctuation, and capitalization!

I was also noticing a funny pattern between people who post like that and people how don't back up their save game data.

Read the AUP lately?

I'm not one to usually throw up the AUP, but horrible posts with no caps or periods or even gaps between sentences are inexcusable. At least I didn't just reports your post.. sheesh..

I probably wouldnt be so angry if you had.

Essentially it is difficult on my mobile to get it right.

As for the not answering the question it was a oversight on my part I didnt think I would be slammed for it.

Back on topic im done with discussing this.

So basically when I get my brothers ps3 I format it and restore my account and simply run the restore feature?

You don't have to.... If you want to have the PS3 basically be brand new... Just format it. If your brother doesn't want the account anymore and you want it, keep it.. But if he does want it.. I would DEACTIVATE!!!!! IT FIRST then delete (not yelling but it is important) it because like i said before, after the 4.00 update for the PS3 system its self you can only get 2 activations for a PSN account.

You have not added much to this thread aside from pulling me up on my posts which I might add is not your place to do so.

Bottom line is your place is to report me if you feel there is a need to but its a mods job to enforce the aup.

I agree.. He needed help with a PS3 problem... I really don't think there is a rule for not answering a question whether you didn't see it or didn't want to answer... Plus i am pretty sure everyone understood everything everyone said... Not sure where you get entitlement to basically go around threatening the AUP... I would understand your point if you saw people saying "i can't understand this person" but that wasn't the case... So basically your post was totally not on point... Nothing personal to you, but it just seemed like you just wanted to stir up something... So come on if you don't see a really good reason just don't even bother... Makes you look like you are trolling..
 
This actually started as me wanting to hear stories of peoples fat ps3 dying.

In the process I managed to get some advice I wasnt aware of so to the people who offered the help you people are why I like posting here.

Nice to see the grammar police out. Didn't know you were a mod.? How do you know that people with "bad grammar" don't save??
 
Looks like I am waiting a month now my brother wants to finish skyrim before handing it over lol.
 
Mine went last Christmas and i still remember the horror of a whole 6 weeks before a replacement. But at least i was able to reacquire my stealth cars and so i would assume any other dl
 
Dont you find it bad that the ps2 lasts beyond its life cycle but the ps3 barely makes half that

Well you got to remember though... The PS3 has a hard drive, blue ray player, processors and plus more... Produces a lot of heat and more parts means more to break

But remember there are more powerful machines out there with better cooling and more reliable.
 
When my ps3 fat one gone , i really thought i'm doomed , but then i founded not very expensive ps3 on net and took one ;))

Finally a update my brothers ps3 is finally mine now in the middle of updating.

Then on to the racing!!!!!!

That's good i was wondering when you were going to be able to get it ... Did you have any problems putting your accounts on there?
 
Nope all good just downloading updates.

I would have had the ps3 sooner and could of paid it off but my brother wanted to finish skyrim.

So all I did was change my password on my psn and signed up to a existing account and there were all my downloads ready to get back into it

Funniest thing is I now have 2 copies of skyrim and gt5 and it came with MW3. Looks like I will be busy. :-).

That's great.... All you have to do i guess is to finish the update and import your save data backup to the PS3 which i believe you said you had and make sure your cars and other GT5 stuff is still there
 
Yeah should be all good. Looks like a all nighter for the downloads.
