This game cheats. Bigtime.

Was doing some special events earlier and had two really annoying incidents.

First one was in GT Rally - really short stage, by the first split, I was 3s ahead, by the end of the stage, I was 7s behind the leader. This wouldn't be so bad had I not kept up the pace I'd had in the first half of the stage and the total time for the stage was 1m. There's no way the the CPU outpaced me by 10s in a 30s section of the stage. This also meant I lost the rally by 2s.

The second one was on karting advanced - the 2nd place CPU kart got a sudden burst of speed and slammed into the back corner of my kart and flew off the course, but out-paced me while going sideways across the grass, depsite me going flat out at this point. Though the karts seem to cheat in general in advanced - they go round corners without slowing, where they really shouldn't be able to...

Sorry, just needed to vent...

Learn how to drive those karts and then the opposite will happen - you'll go around corners way faster than the AI karts.

Make sure your driving aids are off for the rally. You lose a lot of speed through the turns with traction control on.

As for the very last kart event in advanced I can't seem to get gold for the life of me.

I smashed through the first two levels of karting, it's only now I'm doing the highest level that the CPU karts suddenly seem to be on rails. Pobably is just lack of tallent on my part though...

The split times for rally, however, seem completely made up. There have been a couple of occasions where I've thought "that can't be right", but the example I gave above was just taking the mick!

I believed you that the AI were pulling away from you really fast.
And then only later you claim that you were taking the mick.

Ah right. No. The game was taking the mick. Tere was no way the CPU could have gained 10s in such a short distance - it would have been going 50% faster than me (if my maths are correct)

Oh right.
If you really do struggle, you can take the shortcut.
Skid Recovery Force...

On one of the snow stages in the GT Rally event I made the mistake of ovetaking all the AI cars. When I reached the end of the stage the other cars did not finish before the first result screen disappeared, so I was given a 10 second lead for the stage. On one of the stages where I only passed 2 AI cars I had over 20 seconds lead at the end so the game definitely cheated me out of my proper lead on that stage. Fortunately it did not matter as I had a big lead at the end anyway.

Also on that Rally some of the stages are so dark (no Driving Line on option to guide you) that you stand no chance of beating the AI cars.

The game does go out of its way to make life difficult for you...

Misleading rather than cheating, the Loeb Rally gives the impression you need to finish physcially ahead of the ghost. I gave up when I first attempted it as it went off into the distance and I could not catch it. I was a little unimpressed on retrying at a later date and got a Gold for finishing physically behind the AI.

The rally events are tougher than ever, that is until you ditch the driving aids and adjust the brakes, LSD and basically tune the car to suit the track. Without doing this I was struggling hard to get the first advanced trophy above even bronze level - then about half way through the next attempt I remembered to tune my car...I flew it and beat them by a total of over a minute in just four races.

The advanced karting can be done and it's hard but damn rewarding when you get there.

Rally was so frustrating. I think it's because my impreza I was using was just not tuned right. I think you need to adjust the LSD.

Just skip to the Sebastian Loeb challenge and use the awesome prize car you get there to dominate the Rally. You also learn about Rally from the Loeb challenge.

The Loeb challenge should really come BEFORE the Rally challenges. I'm not sure what PD was thinking there.

I was doing the final race in the NASCAR Series at Dytona, and was on the third lap going perfectly straight down the back straight, when one of the little sneaks spun me out! Ended up finishing last, but luckily I had won all the races before it, so I still got gold by 125 points.

Car choice seems to be important in the rally stages. I had no problem getting through all the rally stages, gold in all of them. Haven't seen other complaints here, so you obviously just aren't fast enough.

Your karting 'cheat' claim. That sudden burst of speed, that's called slipstreaming. The karts do it, yes, and do it quickly. AI crash into each other. It's not cheating, it's the human factor that they put into the AI. That means............that's right, AI can crash into you too. Unfortunately, they do it alot in braking zones. The kart tracks, you can go flat out in almost every corner thrown at you throughout the ENTIRE challenge (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). The kart races were the easiest of all the special challenges. Gold on each one first try, without even breaking a sweat.

Yeah you can get massive slipstreaming with the karts, a little unrealistic but the key with that final race is to keep plugging away, there often seem to be 2 or 3 that pull away out front but keep steady (and yes you can take most of the course flat) and you should hopefully get close enough to them to pick up their tow. From then on you can take them in the "usual" places (usually the first 2 or 3 corners for me)

Unlike the above poster, I found this one really hard but very rewarding. The other races were much much easier. Also found, oddly, that it was easier when i came back to it later, even though the karts have very different handling.

Oh and get a good start on that last kart race, you might get a few bumps but you can take quite a few on those first few corners

I've been pretty successful with the game generally but I find that last race really tricky, same with the hardest Jeff Gordon challenges. It seems impossible sometimes to keep up with the leaders, not helped by those banked corners at Daytona being really hard work with a DS3 (very hard to keep on the outside smoothly)

The rally special event makes up times for the final split off the top of its head. I was in an identical C4 WRC to the third placed car and had caught him up to the point that we went through the second last checkpoint together - that's a 12s advantage to me. We went through the finish together and he'd clawed back 7s of that in one sector somehow - and remember, we ran that sector together.

It's really noticeable on the advanced level. The AI cars are no faster in the final sector, but their times fall considerably.

I thought Karts were easy, But i race them in real life, just dont brake until its really necessary, and stay off lines where they can slipstream you, stops that, "I don't know how to overtake so I'll just ram you off the road" A.S. bot thing happening 👍

I had no trouble Gold-ing the Rally Events. After picking a suitable car I Golded them first time. On Loeb I took two attempts to Gold the Eiger one and Golded Chamonix when I was able to reach the end of the track. Karts was just a matter of keep trying.

I think the game must cheat somehow at the Loeb Chamonix event because I resorted to practicing (with the Citroen) in Arcade so that I could learn it sufficiently to reach the end of the course. On Arcade, with identical settings to the Challenge, I was able to finish 40 seconds quicker than my Gold time in the Challenge. The car felt much more natural in Arcade as well.

you can make a shortcut in the corners of Kart Races do make full Speed turns... just make your wide line and it's very easy... But now i am stuck in the Toscana Rally (in that Italian Thing that i hate -.-) I Just got Silver, but i am at 0.197 from Gold... i have everything turned off but i am with some dificulties...

I have a theory that the splits are measured against the car in last place rather than the leader. A bug, but a kinda logical one in that someone programmed it this way by mistake.

What Italian thing, don't you drive a Ford WRC?

This. In the rally events, the game measures the gap to the car behind you, not the first-placed car.

There isn't a car behind you. There's three cars ahead of you.

However, there's no possible way for the situation I described to be true without "massaging" of the times. I set off 12 seconds behind the car directly ahead of me. I passed through the third and fourth splits level with him - that's a 12s advantage - and finished only 5s ahead of him.

you can check the replay and see if they cheat, no?

Someone said that the split times are between you and the last place(last podium spot?) car while when you finish the race, they compare your times to the 1st place car.

all you described is "Gold" for me (so its possible, and Im no super human) not having any problems ( well some ) but I say one word "Practise".
PS. In Rally have to try different cars, so you can find your perfect one.

I overtook two cars and was right behind the 1st car at the finish and i finished only 1 second in front of it.

AI cheats on FGT monza. I did a race in the rain. They kept catching me up rediculously fast then pitting. On the 19th lap i tried to block the AI on the first chicane so it just went straight across the green bit. It didn't even hit something, just drove straight over it!
