i have been playing GT from the first one, always change the oil before driving, regardless of used or new. GT5 is no different, & you do get a HP increase for premium & standards.

I won a veyron, it had 955 bhp, I had an oil change and it went to 1007bhp. I did a race, it went to 1009bhp, I did another it went to 1014bhp etc. Now on 1020bhp. Lol

Does anyone have any idea why certain cars are well below their normal bhp? The Autobianchi A112 Abarth '79 i won had 67bhp, an oil change brought it up to 71bhp, but in comparison the the typical opponents page on european classics race the same car in their is 113bhp. I dont have the option of an engine rebuild etc.

Don't understand?

The typical opponents shows upgraded AI cars. 70bhp is right for the A112, 113bhp is definitely significantly upgraded.

The oil change trick also works for the CE collectors cars. I forgot to oil change the R8 V10 after a single race, quickly did the oil change and got 30+ HP up to 555 HP.

Oh i see. In the past i've played Forza where the AI always runs stock vehicles so this never occured to me. Well thats pretty cool actually, i like this answer :)

I saw a Veyron with under 700 hp in a typical opponents list. I guess the AI manages to remove hundreds of hp from their cars too.

The HP gain was due to the superior oil that is being put in the car. Better lube = less friction = more HP and longer engine life. A bit exagerated but that seems to be the concept. Also that oil change is $250 so must be some good oil going in there.
This is the case. The GT5 lube shop will replace standard oil with super race spec lube. Even on many new cars I've gained upto 30bhp with an oil change!

I just changed the oil on a BMW M3 04 (tuned to 421bhp now 446bhp) so it works ( I had the oil light on when i was racing this car so thought i would try it out) cheers for the reminder of this little bhp upgrade i had forgot about it.
