Oil Changes

you should give it a virgin oil change before you race it... and then you should change it either when you think i t needs changing or when the light for an oil change goes on... basically if you go to the auto shop and your oil is black.... and its supposed to be green.... you should change it....

your power will drop as you add miles to you car... when you change oil it will rejuvinate some power... but after a certain number of miles it will no longer go to max power... has nothing to do with when you change oil tho... just if you feel that your car is slower change hte oil...

After about every 100kilometres would be a good change...I haven't actually seen a thread asking this question before...I would like to know how long a car can go before the oil reaches blank...(I know you can still continue, but what is the distance)

I always wait for the idiot light to come on. Unless I need help with more HP from a stock car for a stock race. I also change the oil in a new race car when I first get it. That should help ya.:D

Idiot light comes on at 189 miles (AKA 300km).

Oil begins going bad around 120 miles (varies with each car).

I'll point out that the "virgin oil change" trick that bengee mentioned adds 5% to the base stock horsepower number. Famine swears it varies, but in the NTSC version it is always 5% rounded to the nearest whole number.

And Dodge, there have been many threads on this subject before.

Hmmmm, I won a new F1 yesterday, with 0 miles/km on it, and the oil went bad at 200km, not 3. I believe it did start before that though, because the hp was down to 818 at 200km.

So it varies, I suppose, and yep I did give it the virgin change.

I made a thread that goes into excessive detail about this:

Everything you always wanted to know about HP, break in, and oil changes

It has been linked to the Look here before you ask! thread.

About oil changes in particular, your HP stays exactly the same for the first 200km (126mi), then you gradually lose power. After 300km (189mi) the oil light comes on. At that point you have exactly a 5.0% penalty for dirty oil. Continuing to drive with the oil light on will not make you lose any more power nor will it damage the engine.

The distance you can drive does not vary from one car to the next. It always starts to go at 126mi then the light comes on at 189mi. If there is any confusion, that's because there is also the issue of engine break-in and later the engine getting old.

Ah, but I only ever use Extra-Virgin olive oil... :D

BTW
Polyphony P002; 789hp. Multiply by 1.05 = 828.45 = 828hp
Polyphony P001; 790hp. Multiply by 1.05 = 829.50 = 830hp

Both cars have 829hp after oil change... :D

I would be extremely interested in seeing a screen-shot of an F1 car with 200km that had 818 HP, but I have a feeling you're just not being precise enough. The power drops very fast as soon as you hit 200km -- 1 HP every 2km in powerful cars.

If you change the oil at 0km, the breakdown for the F094/H, F094/S and Polyphony 001 is:

0 km (0 mi) = 829 HP
200km (126 mi) = 829 HP
220.27km (138.77 mi) = 818 HP
300km (189 mi) = 790 HP

The problem is that the base HP is not a whole number, and you don't actually know what it is without a little reverse-engineering.

Polyphony 001:
829.1 base HP (rounded to 829)
dirty oil = 829.1 / 1.05 = 789.6 HP (rounded to 790)

Polyphony 002:
828.8 base HP (rounded to 829)
dirty oil = 828.8 / 1.05 = 789.3 HP (rounded to 789)

Yeah, I was being evasive :D

Best way to calculate the base hp is to shove a massive power multiplier on. Power multiplier of 50 magnifies any "error" in the base hp calculation (by 50... :D).

So a base P001 with PM50 should be 39478-39482hp
