Hey guys whats up, hows everything goin?

I have only slightly started messing around with drifting in GT4. GT drifting is not new to me and I am very very good at GT3 drifting.

My one main concern about GT4 drifting is the kick back. I have drifted in real life and definelty have not came across kick back as bad as it is in the game.

How have you guys over come this? Because every time I try to exit a corner, the rear of the car kicks and sends me outside, of the road....

*edit* btw - im using the DFPro

OK sounds good.. Ill try that when I get back to my apartment. Thanks.

Anyone got anymore tips cause this is what was really hurting me... I would go into a corner be fine, come to the exit and WAM!!, it kicks and shoot me of the outside.

So when I'm, smoothly and gradually straighting out, im gonna have to give it more gas then to still keep them from gripping and sending me outside. Correct?

It just kinda pisses me off casue these characteristics are no where close to GT3

Thanks Suzuki

- Sal

Indeed. Although suzuki does shoot down about 40% of all threads, hes damn good at this crap and knows what hes tlakin about. Its all about bein SMOOTH. it will seem imposible at first, especially with a ds2, its either to the right or left right? WRONG. the steering is very sensitive but over time you can use this to your advantage. go from countersteer to straight from apex to exit. Look at some of delphic reasons things on lsd, this can slightly improve your ability and understanding.

lol.
yeah, the reason its kicking back is most likely you have to much c/s while exiting.
just keep praticing and youll get it eventually.
i was once where you were EN, and it was very fustrating. but i just kept to it, and i have no prob with kickback now.

Hey there Sal... Been a while...

It just takes practice to get used to the differences between GT3, and GT4... You need to set up the car a bit different as well... When I get home I'll link you to my settings depot... There you can look at the differences, and see if there is something you are doing vastly different than everyone else, and adjust... BTW, feel free to stop by IDM and ask some questions there... The whole point of IDM is to help people drift..

;)

Also gradually decreasing your wheelspin to non-existense by lifting, up-shifting, or scrubbing the brake can help alot with cars that still kick back with smooth steering, and unwinding of c/s.

HEY E.NOTE .. REMEMBER ME THEHEHE .. ITS TOTALLY DIFFRENT FROM GT3 .. LOL ITS DAMAN HARD NOW EVEN GTR-34 CANT DRIFT HMM :( ... TRY WITH STOCK 1ST THEN IF U BECOME SUITABLE ADD ANY MODS .. FOR BEST TRY ARCADE MODE 1ST ... FOR BEGINNER I SUGGEST TRY BMW M3 .. GOOD FOR DRIFTING ... COMBINATION TIRE GETTING VERY WORST NOW UNLIKE GT3 LOL ...THE BEST TIRE TO USE N1 OR N2 .. GOOD LUCK

GLAD U R BACK CHEERS :p

Turn off your caps lock... When you have your caps lock on, it makes it look like you're yelling at everyone... Plus, it makes you look like a noob... You don't want that, I reckon...

opsss sry .. i saw your vids hmm .. its great btw did u know where is the cmd ??? i just want his gtr setting ( the one @ idm signature )

Reduce Couter Steer and lift off the gas or at least stop the wheels spinning, Even turing slighty against the kickback (say your countersteering to the left, just as the rearis nearing being straight turn a bit to the right this should stop the weight shifting and soften the kickback), mainly you just have to be really smooth and reduce the countersteering and wheelspin at your exits, it takes a bit to get used to but it shouldnt take you too long :p.

1: get into drift, get angle.
2: at exit, decrease half of the countersteer while the force feedback still pushes you INTO countersteering.
3: then, first millisec the force feedback disappears, quickly quit countersteering. I mostly do this in ONE BIG WHIP of the wheel, dont be affraid to do that, this final 3rd thing requires you to be VERY FAST!

PS. It's very difficult to explain feel, but I try to give most new GT4 drifters the feel in WORDS, wich is diffcult. And yeah, I think good GT3 drifters have had most problems with GT4 since they were used to GT3. New GT'ers weren't used to anything. +It took me a month to learn FR:sick:

+/-260BHP Honda S2000 gives good feel, BMW M3 can be good for learning, but IMO it's got a very bad sudden kickback, not on the S2000. + TELL ME THOSE DAMN DFP SETTINGS LOL, THERE's something you gotta change but I always forget it's name!!! LOLZ

A tough thing to get use to is the snap back.. Took me a awhile but once you get use to it everything else is easy. :D

Lol I must confess, I never had trouble with snap back, I just had trouble getting my countersteer up fast, get it to full lock for example. Snap back....>never had trouble with it, maybe a few times when I tried to push to hard, but not in my beginning of GT4 drifting.

I think Suzuki had a challenge a long time a ago and i just saw his video w/ a S13...

Im gonna try and get his settings for that and use them on my Sileighty.

Go for DR's settings. They really helped me a lot.

I countersteered so hard I broke my DFP >_< be sure to turn down the force feedback :p

Haha, I did that with my wheel. It now has 90 deg. of lock clockwise and 180 deg. anti-clickwise.

Dude, that's easy to fix. All you did was jump a few teeth on the lock limiter gear. The long, straight, white gear that is visible when you open your DFP. All you need to do to fix it is to remove the top metal brace, then remove the four screws that hold the plastic gear box (has the motor sticking out of it) to the DFP case. Then just center it (the long white gear) and put everything back together. Viola, good as new. I put mine off center once while tightening the gears in the gear box (gets rid of the banging noise when it shakes back and forth) and it is easy to fix. And don't worry about the DFP sensor getting out of whack, because that's what auto calibrate is for.

Practice.
That's all i can say.

When i first started, i was very upset with the physics of GT4.. But you get over it.

i use My analog to countersteer. it works pretty well if i just tap the analog little by little according to how much I need to countersteer. If u countersteer too hard ur car will spin out!

Word of warning if useing the analog, when counterstering(??) with the analog, make sure you switch direction at the first feel of leveling out,not to early,or youll end the drift, not to late or you'll spin for sure..
