I'm still using an original sixaxis.

So I don't have the cash or the room for a wheel, is it worth upgrading to a DS3?

I've also noticed some comments about the HKS, but I'm not right sure about that one, since I use the right stick for throttle/brake (old skool)

I only have 1 DS3, so I have to use sixaxis sometimes. The only thing I miss with my DS3 is the weight and sticks. If you buy a new controller the sticks are "harder". The sixaxis is too light, and I don´t drive so good with it. DS3 is heavier = better. If you can afford one, go for it. And then you have another controller while the other is charging :)
I hope soe of this made sense

Well, besides it being heavier and, from what I noticed, having a longer battery life, the DS3 controller also has the dual rumble motors which, in turn, also increases the experience. The buttons on the DS3 controller are also pressure sensitive (I'm not sure about the six-axis controller). I use the L2 and R2 buttons as the throttle and brake, which gives me a lot more control, and the shifter is the right stick (up for shift up and down for shift down).

So all-in-all, I prefer the DS3 over th SA controller. I'm still trying to get a steering wheel for GT5, but due to financial difficulties, I have been unsuccessful, so far.

I also use the Sixaxis. It's had a good run but it's on it's last legs.

Due to domestic restrictions (aka girlfriend) my upgrade is limited to a DS3.

The SA certainly is pressure sensitive, but can anyone confirm for me if the pressure sensitivity of the DS3 is the same or better?

I have 2 sixaxis controllers.
One has a sticky left analog stick and the other's as good as new.
But even with that beeing said - they're still great and usable.
I won't recommend switching to DS3 if your sixaxis is doing fine. Just try and save for a wheel, if not - use your sixaxis 'till it dies.
I have a DS3 too, it's heavier and, well that's about it. I prefer sixaxis.

I have used the same two controllers that I got with my original PS3 4 years ago. I don't feel like I am missing out in GT5 because I am not using a wheel.

On the Sixaxis vs. DS3 side of things. I find the DS3 too heavy after so many years of the original controller. If the DS3 had been released with the console I am without doubt that the Sixaxis would be too light for me. I also find the game immersive enough without the need for the rumple pads.

I don´t notice the rumbling before I change back to SA. But I like DS3 best bacause of the weight. When playing with SA I usually connect my keypad to get more weight on it

I have the original 6A that came with my launch fatty PS3. It's on its very last legs with a -terrible- left stick. However, it has found one last use for auto-grinding 👍

DS3 is awesome. I have a buddy who still plays using the original Sixaxis and his only complaint when using my controller was that he didn't like how heavy it was. I actually prefer the added weight.
