I've got a video of 0-178 in 48 seconds if you want to see it.

Okay..... i mean your serious!!! Damn, must really feel stupid now :dunce: I thought only supercars or 1000HP+ drag cars could pull those times off, but man am i wrong.....Well if you have the video, why not post it here? But is it the same car as this one?

No. The video is a stock C6 Z06. Full on drag cars normally do 0-240 or so in a quarter mile.

I took it from my crappy digital camera. I just watched it for the first time since around May and it is actually 0-171 in 35-40 seconds of flat out acceleration. The video kicks in about a second from the launch because of the time delay in my camera :(. You can still clearly hear all five shifts though.

Is that sound desireable? I honestly don't like that sound.. it sounds like the car is dead

The beast is uncaged... but for how much?

I will remember that sound forever, when the driver hits (we're not talking squeeze, either) the throttle and the engine screams a high A note. Other than that, it still sounds like a muscle-car, with full throttle a muscle-car with testosterone added.

For those of you in here who are dismissing the car just because...

a) Its a rag-top convertible
b) Its not European or Japanese
c) Because its straight line acceleration at its finest--which...newsflash can be fun

...need an enema, quit using every Corvette/Camaro/Mustang/whateverotherAmericancar thread for your personal vendetta when posting. Either learn to appreciate it for what it is or don't bother posting. I'd rather not see ANOTHER damn American car bashing group of people ruin another thread. Instead of saying something like "why bother blah blah blah because its going in a straight line", why not be somewhat civilized and say something along the lines of "I'd like to see this on a track". See how much better the second phrase sounds?

Much agreed!

I'm British and even I can accept and understand the awesome power of this car. Yes, it can't take bends fantastically, but it's America! It's not like you're going on a rally stage. As for the sound of that engine, who says it's dead? You need your hearing checked, it's the sound of brute power to me and just by hearing that as it idles you know it's something extra ordinary.
It'd be a shame to see Euro/Japanese fanboys wreck this because it's not the same as they see every other day, they should atleast acknowledge that in it's field, it's a magnificent machine.

Someone always has to spoil it. I'm surprised it went 38 posts before it happened.

Thank you sir for getting it. You may not prefer straight-line acceleration over say a circuit but you DO appreciate power in its purist form. That makes you a true auto enthusiast. Sometimes everyone needs to cross the fence once and a while and praise something we wouldn't normally praise. Just like I've praised a Civic or two lately which is very unlike me.

Cheers mate. 👍
