Hey, I searched and was unable to find this screen shot, and i was wondering if anyone had seen it ? I was racing a little while ago and accidentally hit the select button while my race was paused... result ? display of an on-screen steering wheel ! it rotates in unison with your wheel, and has a red line on it to indicate the top of the wheel. click the link for a screen shot ! http://img195.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img195&image=img13347ue.jpg sorry for the poor quality, my camera didnt handle a moving screen very well. later-

Does it work during replays/demos? It would be useful when checking how to tackle the gold licenses.

I'll try it in the Japanese GT4 demo later today.

I posted them in some old threads before, it can be set in the options

What is the point of this anyways? Letting your spectating friends see how much turn-in and countersteering you're applying when you drive? I suppose you could receive pointers as a result of having that on-screen.

for those with gt4P...
it also works in prologue... looks a little different tho, and as fas as I remember it only shows accellerator and brake.

It's clear that works in races, but it's possible activate for replays/demos?

(I encountered the option in Maskrider translations but It was only in race options)

ahh ! i thought i found something no one had seen ! haha, sorry about that then. I had never seen it myself... but i would think if one were able to mimic the exact motions of the wheel then you could use it to get golds every time without even looking at the track :-P. i haven't tried it in replay mode.. later today i will. later-

Yes, you have to set it on options to get it to display during replays and license test demonstrations, as you can't press start during a replay and turn it on.

Can anyone verify it works during replays? It's select, not start you press, btw.

Also, it doesn't work in the GT4 demo.

No, you have to press start THEN select during a race for it to appear. And yes, it appears in replays and license demonstrations if you turn it ON in the race options menu.

Can somebody w/ GT4 post a video showing the DFPro and the wheel on the screen moving? It would be nice to see the reaction time. Does it have any kind of delay? I would really appreciate!! Thanks.

It is very good and helpfull to see it when I view drift replays, Also you can see if they where in 200 or 900 degree mode

sadly, there is a SLIGHT delay. i was playing around with it and if you whip the wheel back and forth quickly the on screen wheel does not turn quite at quickly or as far as you do with your real wheel. I did hear somewhere that an assist is in place which keeps the wheel from taking direct impulses but makes small corrections and is abale to be turned off int he options menu. I am not sure if this could make a difference. I've found that i can't stand having an on screen wheel because a big moving thing distracts me from my driving. maybe i was just distracted by it because it was new, but i didn't like it. I haven't tried it on rally mode, maybe it will help so i can see how far the wheel has been turned already. later-

The other problem with this is that you lose the Rev counter display that you usually get with 1st person mode and are restricted to the 3rd person version.

yep i just saw those vids yesterday. in the drifting movie thread. very cool, and timely for them to show up right about now ! losing the speedo and tach were too much for me, and i had to stop using the wheel view  later-

well, GT3 also had the wheel displayed on the screen during replays. It was smaller and white. I'm just curious to know if the small delay is eliminated when assist is off... thanks.

i found it quite helpful initially when i was learning GT4 with my DFP..

just keep the red marker pointed to the direction u're going. once u learn counter-steering etc, u get the hang of the wheel quite quickly and easily..

anyone know what 'power assist' and 'active steering' do?

i always have power assist off and sometimes have active steering off aswell, but i couldnt really tell the difference between active steering on/off..
