Just started the Like The Wind event in B-Spec.
All the cars in the field, including mine, are LMP road race cars...with the exception of a Suzuki Escudo Dirt Trial Car!
And the thing took the lead right away and was blowing the field away until it reached the long straight. Apparently it has a low top end, because it got dusted on the stretch.
What other cars have you seen the AI field in races that were oddly out of their class?
 
Much as I like the car, I thought it was a little odd to have the Jensen Interceptor in the Supercar Nostalgia Cup.

Likewise I wouldn't call a Mini or Beetle a "hot hatch" :)
 
I cant remember which cup it was i was racing, but all the cars were suprisingly slow for sure a high event (professional class I think) Im talking about Golfs, S2000s and that sort of thing. When i overtook what i thought was all of them i found i was a good 6-7 seconds behind the leading car which turned out to be a Ford GT :trouble:

Ironically enough, it never appears in the "Like the wind" series with the other Group C race cars.
 
It's an unfortunate staple of Gran Turismo.

I think the worst for me was in the FR championship. Most of the field was Mustangs, S2000's, and things of those nature. Then on the second lap, a Shelby Series one comes barreling down the main straight never to be seen again.
 
Classic Corvette in the Supercar race on Daytona, I lap him every time.

I think that's the Polyphony Digital Cup, great for building up cash and testing cars. And yeah that GT turns up in it a lot, and although usually leads the AI cars, is still too slow, another example of the "average speed" thing GT seems to do to all the opponents.
 
I just did an MR event and one of the cars i was against was a VW Nardo W12. I always thought it was 4wd, but it turns out some versions were 4wd and the newer models indeed were MR:dopey:

The Jensen Interceptor in the Supercar cup. Man, it was blown away by the F1 and Enzo and in the same race!

The Gillet Vertigo is one of the "I'm not a LMP" cars in LTW, he only blocks the other cars at the start :/ .

That bugger nearly ruined one of my B-Spec races, when all of a sudden on the last lap he slowed down a touch. "Pace up!", I said, and win I did. Just.

This was in my Like The Wind event. It got destroyed.
 
Actually, thinking about it, it's not altogether that strange. The number of times I've entered a race in completely the wrong car (for "better" or for worse) is shamefully high. I've even run back to do a quick race to build up cash to grab a car in the used dealership and forgot to change to an appropriate car! The worst was entering a standard (with oil change ;)) Honda S500 into an extreme event...

Maybe the AI is doing the same? :dopey:

did the world championship in expert, the one with sharte, nurburgring etc and pretty much every car is a race car and as the cars are scrolling across i see

i'm like, wait what? thought it was extra funny since im australian and a holden lover, to see a falcon getting lapped 3 times in each race lol.
 
The Toyota 7 on Deep Forest Raceway in the Classic expert race is a formidable opponent.

Me neither, but the Mercedes A 160 in the same championship is even worse.

I second the Jag XJR-9 in Dreamcar.
It's the ONLY LMP.
It's the only REAL car.

But I guess it's just like every other GT game - Ever.

I assume it was the SHO, cuz I don't think there's a base model in the game is there?

While it may be underpowered, it IS a "Musclecar" by the original use of the term. Powerful engine in an intermediate sized sedan.

I think that event has no restrictions, assume an error as PD seem to have generally fixed these issues (was a problem up til GT4 IIRC)

That said, I would argue some of the AI cars aren't quite right either, I wouldn't count a Mini or a new Beetle as a "hot hatch"? Though I admit I ended up using a Mini in B-Spec, Bob was finding the Eiger hard work!

The F1 Stealth I think does legitimately qualify as a British Lightweight, I noticed there are some cars you would expect to qualify but don't (I think the TVR Griffith was one) but that F1 was light already, and made lighter still for the Stealth Edition. Still makes for a pretty one sided race though! I found it fun to try the 87 Esprit, or the Caterham (though I think I struggled against Elises in the latter)
 
Oops was repeating myself about the hot hatches there!

Then was going to mention the Ford Falcon also, was woefully out of place but a nice car! Funny how some cars that go back a few GTs and didn't appeal so much back then, now seem a lot more interesting.
 
I remember a race with the Chapparal 2J, Pescarolo and Bentley LMP's, Blitz ER34 D1GP, my Mazda Furai, a Playstation Audi R8, and a Xanavi NISMO Z.

Can-Am vs. D1GP vs. LMP vs. SUPER GT vs. DTM vs. fake concept car? Doesn't add up to me.

800+ hp McLaren MP4-12C painted like a Subaru in the British Lightweights? :D
 
A Ford RS200 and a Focus in the European Cup, way out the context.
