This thread is dedicated to your favorite one-off cars based either on race cars, cars in movies, cars in magazines, cars based on game models, that sort of thing. For example, do you like a Signal Auto NSX that looks like a JGTC race car? Or maybe you like the Toyota GT-One's road car of quite possibly Japan's best weapon against European LM cars? One-offs and nothing less. Reply now.

here is one of my favs, the Holden HRT 427 monaro

I would have to agree with u on that one and u cant forgot the new sandman as well, it would be cool if holden did release the sandman again

Renault Espace F1 and the Audi Avus.

There's bound to be many more concept cars I could list, but I can't think of any right now.

This one got my attention as a car I might actually be interested in buying - five door Holden Commodore, so a big hatchback, running a 5.7 litre V8 and AWD (with three proper diffs).

Just can't justify a big V8 - especially with oil over $40 a barrel.

Espace F1. Its a real bad-ass one-off.

I think they made 5 but only sold 1 to the general public. I could be wrong on the total count, but I know there is only one customer car. The guitarist of grunge band Garbage bought a red one.

Same thing with the Tuscan R, only 1 customer car in existance.

Well, speaking of one-offs, many race categories require the cars to have road-legal counterparts, so that yields a whole barrel of cars. One of my faves:

I was pretty transfixed by the original of this when I saw it...

The Aztek with the 700hp motor in it, I've actually seen it in person and heard it fire up. Aside from almost going deaf the Aztek was sweet, I'll have to find the picture of it.

Here we go. These pictures were taken in Atlanta over spring break. I went to the FIRST Robotics National Competition with the robotics team I help. I was one of the luckey people to hear what it sounded like. The motors a 427 I know but other then that I really don't remember the stats to much.

Its an Aztek with a 700hp motor in it, definatly the coolest one-off I've seen.

I've talked to someone who works at the shop that made that beast.

Ah, yes, the XJ13.

In the couple of years before the Australian GP moved to Albert Park, they ran some lead-up events there which were predominantly historics and exotics, and one of the best replicas of the XJ13 was running. It is, quite simply, gorgeous. If you tidied up some of the detailing (glass house, rear wheel bulges) you could sell it new today.

Wow, a stock car for people who want to race Charlotte or Talladega but can't. Wow. Impressed. Anyhow...

I didn't know there is actually a one-off of the BMW M3 GTR. As the E3 pictures have shown, that same GTR road racer in EliseRacer's post will perhaps be in GT4. I've known the Prototype Technology Group (PTG) BMW a little longer than this one in EliseRacer's picture. It packed about 444 horsepower and took the fight to Alex Job and D. Barbour. Now that Porsche is now facing Ferrari and Morgan, nice to see this BMW M3 GTR again after a long while. The Porsche 911 GT1 is a nice one-off in my view. It may not be the 956, but it is a modern dream car that hasn't seen much action since their Le Mans win in 1998. Never heard of any factory efforts from Porsche to take the fight to the sportscars. But the 911 GT1 is perhaps the only Porsche that doesn't look Porsche. I mean, it's not really a stretched 911. It's alluring, unmistakable, and I think it's one of the coolest GT1 race cars of the late 1990s other than the Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR, Panoz Esperante GT1, and of course the Toyota GT-One.

It would be nice to see some one-off Toyota Supras from the GT500 class. While there are many aftermarket parts that, when the right combination is found, looks more like a streetcar version of the GT500 track monsters. For fanb... lovers of the Nissan Skyline, a GT500 Skyline one-off isn't bad at all. They'd have to come with modified versions of the engines, though. And oh yes, if they wanted to, the one-offs would come with 500-600 hp motors to scare off muscle cars or European exotics. But if they did that, they'd have to drop the weight a little more. I'm thinking of maybe an unreal 2300 or 2200 pound race cars. Maybe something along the lines of the Corvette C5-R's weight. Even then, a C5-R one-off would be cool as well. The C6's styling could have been based on the C5-R, but did Chevy think about this? No. It MAY kill the next Corvette in terms of styling. Other than that, look to GT/sportscar for some nice one-offs.

Let me end with a VERY strange idea: a one-off of the Audi R8 with a closed top. Any more one-offs you want to talk about?

The Pontiac Ultimate Aztek Concept that was a concept done by GM that features the 6.0L engine out of the Corvette C5-R as well as its transmission to make this Aztek rear wheel drive. 22 inch rims on Z-Rated tires. Side exhaust. 655hp and 625lb-ft of torque. Racing fuel cell carrying 100 octane fuel. 4 6-point harness racing seats.

So THAT'S the Aztec in question?

I'll tell you one thing, I'm not a fan of the Ass-tec, but it looks like it can be a serious performer. For one thing, it's an SUV, so horsepower is pretty big to begin with. The next order of business is tuning for horsepower. GM did just that, seemingly. Got the side exhaust like on V8 Supercars and NASCAR stock cars. But I know one thing, I'd bet the farm that at least one person calls this modified Ass... uh, Aztec, a "ricer." I'd bet someone on GTPlanet will talk about the machine using "rice" at least once in a forum post. Either "rice" or "ugly" or anything similar. Anyone want to prove John boy wrong?

The motor on the Aztek is a 427 so its not out of a Vette

Its the 427 and the C5 vette engine is NOT a 427, its a 350.

It's got the lowest horsepower of any six-cylinder midsize SUV on the market (tied with the Suzuki XL-7, which is also the worst new vehicle for sale - so it's in good company) at just 185. The good thing about the Aztek's V6 (it's spelled with a 'k', incidentally - God knows why) is that it's got a nice OHV V6, so that 185-horsepower is pulled from 3.4 liters. Even for OHV engines, that's weak.

The all-wheel drive Pontiac Aztek is actually a good vehicle. The design makes it so that cargo room is near class high, and standard features on the all-wheel drive model are unrivaled for the price. Even options prices are decent. If it had thirty or forty more horsepower, I'd recommend it over perennial 'class favourites' like the Pilot and Higlander. But, it doesn't. So, I don't.

What the bloody hell do you think is in a C5-R? Do you even know what a C5-R is? Notice the R.
